Riley... had just done very nearly the same thing it had done. Except her attack had struck true. Caught somewhere between envy and admiration, the plague doctor flinched forward as its own feathers dissipated and returned to their homes on its wings, stinging a bit as they sullenly re-connected.
The first one had vanished upon death? Damn.
"Be a good sample and stay, now," Malodore said with a sigh, flinging one last scalpel at the remaining elf's heart. Or where it supposed an elf heart to be, anyway.

The elf sniffled and made a "yurk!" sound as the scalpel stabbed him in the heart. He clutched at it, stared at the plague doctor, and fell . . . only to dissipate into snowflakes. U mad, doc? ElfHP: DED

Riley let out a sigh of relief when the slide of Malodore's blade sunk into the crying elf, making it explode in her face. Her eyes had closed just in time, but the rest of her was now covered in snowflakes.
Ugh, She groaned, flopping back on the dragon and rubbing her face into the scales wipe the snow off. Sorry Jericho.

"Why do they vanish?" Malodore paced for a moment, brow furrowing under its bone mask. "Is it because of the incursion of FEAR? How maddening... and yet... the large one did not vanish... more samples will be needed..."

Riley picked herself up slightly, just to lie on her side and reach her hand out for Malodore. Next time, I promise we'll try and capture one alive. Just for you.
She hadn't meant to hit them so hard, truly she hadn't. Perhaps JOY just made her feel a little .. jumpy. Prone to throwing chairs and skewering ballerinas. She could not tell for sure.

Shuddering from the snow covering him now, Jericho resisted the urge to shake himself. Thankfully stray flakes tended to melt upon contact with his body. With the JOY threat gone, he looked over at Malodore. "I don't remember the JOY things dissipating like that in their own land," he mused. In any case, he decided it was prime time to try some of the things he learned in Cricket's class. He didn't have any cookies or anything with him so... snow would have to do. Carefully, he bunched some up in his claws before doing what he needed to do to make it a healing snowball. A part of him wondered if he could throw it at someone to heal them a bit. He didn't this time. Instead he just ate it. It felt good. HP: 36 Damage: Healed for 4 Status: Post battle healing with a magic snowball

"Ah! A magnificent idea," Malodore said, highly approving. "That was masterfully done, Jericho. A satisfactory poultice for any occasion. Now... I shall do the same for you, mia cara." Had its voice just turned highly bashful?
Gently, the plague doctor spread its hands over Riley's form, trying to blend what it had learned from Cricket along with what it had from its own childhood. Its FEAR was a little erratic as old instinct warred with fresh knowledge, but a bit of that warm, healthful glow made it through.

Riley was in a terrible position to have any idea what Jericho was doing, so she didn't get to see him eat a healing snowball. If she had, it would have been pretty impressive. When Malodore complimented him, she craned her neck to try and get a glimpse of what was going on, but Malodore's tickling Fear-healing made her lie back down and let out a chuckle.
Mmm. That feels nice. She purred. They were sort of an unstoppable team, she wagered to herself. They took care of each other so very well, both offensively and defensively. Christmastown's invasion was.. not an acknowledgeable threat. Not like hunters.
She looked up into the sky, and her eyebrows furrowed. Something seems amiss. Is there something other than this little infestation afoot?

Feeling a bit better after that, Jericho looked to see that Mal was helping out Riley in a similar manner. Grinning toothily, he paused for the moment at Riley's words.
"Good question.. .Wait. Did you hear that?" he asked while looking back towards the theater. He could have sworn he just heard something inside.
"Don't suppose rat king is waking up now, do you?"

It opened its beak in a wide smile. "Shall we, amici?"

She heard it, but didn't feel like sitting up just yet. Oh, delightful. I do hope we don't run out of chairs.
She pointed back at the theater. Onward, to perform another extermination.

"Maybe this time we can finish it for good," Jericho nodded before stepping closer to the theater and replacing his pin. He still had Riley on his back, and he carried her piggy back style now.
"Let's go!" he shouted before making his way inside.
