Lark waved a dismissive hand.
"Said ferget it, Ket. Jest bad timin' is all. I gotta remember that .. y'know, she's always gonna be on yer mind. All friendly-like." The emphasis that she placed on those two words made it clear that Lark hadn't bought the whole 'we're gonna be friends' thing.
Ben remained silent throughout all this, though he watched the interaction closely.
"Don't matter. What you want t'eat, mugwump?"

You know what?
Kettil just stood behind her and just hugged onto her trying to pin her arms down to her sides with just a simple straight expression on his face, "Look, Lar. Out of the entire time we been here I tried to keep her out of our conversations because for whatever reason...It gets under your skin. I noticed it. Okay? I get it. You don't like what is happening. All I did was try to spread good news. I didn't just start on a entire texting tirade with her and ignore you."
His forehead moved to press against the back of her head and essentially a bit of her head, "This is supposed to be about us today. Okay? Don't be all pissy, please."
Endy had landed next to Ben her eyes pretty much blank at the moment.

Lark's face twisted as he wrapped his arms around her and pressed his forehead to the back of her head. His movement shoved her hat forward which was probably a good thing because her expression was a mixture of many different things. Lark wasn't prepared to deal with any of them.
She wanted to snap at him about this being their day and yet here he was texting Freya. She didn't. Lark hated it when she upset him, so for now she would just zip her lips and deal with it.
Lark grunted loudly and bumped her head against his, moving away and straightening her hat.
"M'hungry." Typical Lark. Abrupt change of topic meant that she wouldn't have to deal with how she was feeling.

His initial reaction was to want to cling more tightly to her just so he was sure the message got through to her to make sure she realized his words but he let her pull away after she bumped her head against his. When she spoke again he let out a deep sigh.
So frustrating and yet he could never just bring himself to walk away or snap at her. He had a lot of patience it seemed. At least enough to where things like this he was able to let go for now.
"..Alright." He was oddly not hungry anymore but he still moved to follow her.

Temper, temper.
Lark stopped in her tracks and dropped her head. She paused, gave a shake of her head, and turned back to face her best friend. Bright green eyes sought his out. Her mouth wrenched and Lark just took a long minute to stare at him. He was just so... infuriatingly calm. He had no idea. None whatsoever.
For her own sanity, it was better that way. Best friends forever.
"Look, mate. Jest been you n'me fer a long damn time, yeah? I jest.. gotta learn how t'share, I guess. 'specially now that we're in school. Yer gonna be makin' friends," her mouth twisted once more as she forced herself to say that word, "an' I'ma be makin' 'em too." She offered a smile. A tense one, but it was a smile.

When she turned back toward him again he stopped when she sought his eyes she found them easily enough staring right back into her eyes. His expression was oddly neutral for now as if he was trying to just pack away the odd emotion or two that felt out of place along thoughts that circled a memory of recent things that he had no intention of telling Lark things that happened before he came to school.
Eventually a smile appeared though it was almost as tense as hers. He reached up and tugged down at the brim of her hat, "Yeah...I hear ya."
He suddenly felt like a hypocrite because her words reminded him of a friend she'd made while at school that he felt jealous of.

"Good, then." Lark gently poked her finger at the tip of his nose, narrowing her eyes before she smiled. It was a genuine smile, nothing faked or farcical about it.
Lark cleared her throat and turned around, intent on making her way to the maul. It wasn't their first little spat, and it wouldn't be their last. It was just... weird, now. Different. She wasn't sure that she liked it, having him here. There was no doubt in her mind that it had been different when he was back home and she was at the Academy. It'd been easier to forget things. Feelings.
It was frustrating, but it wasn't Kettil's fault. She was such a coward, terrified of ruining things.
"C'mon. I'ma letcha buy me lunch, Ket."

Outside the theatre, brightly glittering snow is falling, a barrier has gone up, Christmas creatures are attacking the school, mayhem ensues, and the smell of peppermint continues to linger in the air.

Kettil'd been about to reply to Lark now that the tension seemed mostly gone between them but then s**t went down and the air smelt of peppermint and suddenly his friend was being attacked! The Reaper let out a loud, "HEY!" and then went to hit the little beast.
...It went not as planned.
Kettil's fist went way overhead the little creature and he just spun in place. Endzela let out a screech of anger.

Lark was too busy screeching fretfully to do anything productive.
"Hit it! Owww, jackdammit! That thing just got me!"
Cowering behind Ben, it would take a moment for the ghoul to regroup.

"I'll show you happy, leave my Lark alone!" He said rather suddenly. The urge to defend his friend in a time of chaos was pretty much spurring him on as he lifted up a leg and kicked the creature that was before him.
Words were just words right now.
