Nodding quietly to Lark, Shun soon took a moment to think of how long he had been at the school exactly.
"It has been about seven months for me. Less than a year and yet much has happened within that time," he replied before raising an eyebrow at the next question she tossed at him.
"I'm almost always up for spar. Though, as forewarning, I don't hold back, regardless of who I'm up against," he said. Even if he was up against a first year student, he didn't see much of a reason to go easy on them. Their enemies certainly won't be doing that much.
"I'll keep an eye out for other challengers as well. If you're looking for a fight, I hear there's a Fright club starting up. It may be worth looking into."

"If y'could point anyone out that'd be willin' t'fight, I'd appreciate it," Lark mumbled, crossing her arms over her chest. "N'I wouldn't expect y'ta take it easy on me, mate. " She shook her head, peering down at the birds that were near her feet. "Way I look at it, y'might be able t'show me th'ropes when it comes t'fightin' someone stronger'n me."
Lark lifted her gaze back to meet Shun's.
"Fright club, y'say?" She nodded thoughtfully. "Gonna keep m'eyes open fer that, then. I jest... don't want t'be a failure, y'know?"

That was a mindset he could respect, especially about not wanting to go easy. There was likely more she could learn if he went all out, rather than holding back.
"Yes. Not much is known of it right now so keep an eye out for it. My guess is that it would be helpful in gaining battle experience," he said quietly. Around then, Shun paused as he heard a twig snapping from somewhere nearby. Narrowing his eyes, he looked to the side to try and see what had caused that.
His gaze shifted to Lark briefly as well, to see if she had heard it.

Lark was usually pretty attuned to her surroundings, and this would prove to be no exception. She snapped her head around to peer in the direction of the noise, and Ben followed suit. Lark held up a hand to indicate that Shun should stay quiet. With remarkable stealth for one wearing steel-toed boots, Lark crept forward towards the sound. She froze in place and moved to a crouch as another twig snapped. This time it was closer.
Lark turned back to peer at Shun. She shrugged silently and gestured for him to move forward.

She had heard it too. Nodding to the other Reaper and her kangaroo, he held his hand out to the birds, motioning to them to stay put. Once Lark waved him over, he crouched down and began to move rather stealthily as well. Whatever was around could be a number of things. A minipet. A gnome. Another student. Or even a Hunter.
All he knew was that it was a bit of a noisy walker, as he heard a bit of a rustle this time around.
In any case, he kept his daggers at hand, preparing for the worst cast scenario.

Lark was half-expecting a minipet to come zipping out of the bush -- she'd been catching a lot of dustbunnies lately (admittedly, they weren't in the fields).
She would be very disappointed, or perhaps enthralled by what shot out of the bush.
"KIIIYAAHHHHH!" It was a portly little fellow, a gnome about two feet high, and in his hand he clutched a butterfly net. With the handle of the net clutched in his hands, the gnome did a flying leap and thwapped the mouth of the net against Ben's flank.
Repeatedly. "Hah! Hah! Hah! Hah!"
Surprised, Ben turned around to peer at the harmless gnome and his equally harmless net. "G'day?"

Shun wasn't really sure what to expect. He certainly did not expect it to be a gnome with a net. Trying to catch Ben. The Reaper stared at the little guy with a rather flat expression.
"..."
It certainly didn't look like the kangaroo was too concerned with this... development.
"The ******** you trying to do?" he frowned at the gnome. He wondered if he should just kick the guy away.

The gnome paused in his attack on Ben.
"This is the scarefari. What's it look like I'm doin', kid? I'm catchin' me a ... a ..."
The gnome's hands clenched into fists and he went a bit bug-eyed as he screeched at the top of his lungs.
"MIIIIIIIN-NEEEEEE-PEEEEEETTTT!!"
Lark nudged the little thing with a toe as she stared down at him. Ben used his tail to thwap the gnome aside -- gently. Kind of.
The gnome screeched again.

Shun cringed at the screech the gnome gave out before narrowing his eyes sharply. Ben might have slapped him aside, but that only made him screech again.
"Jack dammit you little b*****d. Does he look like a minipet to you?" the Reaper hissed in annoyance, contemplating kicking the little guy far off from where they were.
He glanced over at Lark and Ben briefly, not that he was worried about their welfare. The idea that the gnome with the tiny net had actually harmed the kangaroo was laughable.

Lark stifled a chuckle, sent Ben a glance and received a nod in return before she desummoned him completely. Ben had kind of a low tolerance for all things small and stupid (which was probably why he didn't get along with Lark's own minipets for the most part) but Ben especially disliked gnomes. Long story.
"He hates gnomes," Lark explained in an aside to Shun before she glanced down at the gnome.
"Y'better watch out before y'get eat'n by some kinda horrible minipet out here, guy."
The gnome looked outraged that Ben had been desummoned and he immediately turned to Shun.
"This is YOUR fault!"

"Many people do," Shun said a little flatly before staring down at the pint sized tamer wannabe.
"Yes. Of course. It is always my fault," he murmured. "Now get the Jack out of here if you know what's good for you. Can your little brain comprehend that much?"
