"NICE TO MEET YOU TOO," Reine said, wiggling Mister Cuddles' paws and attempting a manly voice that sounded like it was supposed to be a Caelius impression, only much more friendly and more high-pitched. Bear was so cute! SO CUTE.

"W..what did you have in mind for dresses?" She looked at Eva suspiciously. No way was Reine going to wear something pink and frilly or lacy. Or rainbow and frilly and lacy. Making a face, she held the bear closer to her, and looked around at the shops thoughtfully. It was true, she had to try to look presentable at least, since it was a fancy party. Even if she didn't have a date... speakig of which, did Eva have one?

"About the party, though, um, are you going with anyone?" She was a little embarrassed to ask. "If you aren't, mind if I tag along?"

Eva wasn't sure how to feel about the voice...or the bear in general. So she smiled, though it was a much more nervous and wary smile than usual. Clearly she was feeling a little...uneasy around Mister Cuddles, but she certainly wasn't going to tell Reine this. It was clear that she liked the bear so...sigh. She would cast aside her discomfort. For her.

Humming thoughtfully at Reine's question, Eva linked her arm with the girl's and began to drag her towards the dress shop again. "For you? Maybe something...blue?" Reine liked blue, didn't she? The color seemed to suit her, at least. "And nope, I'm not going with anyone! I'd love to hang out with you!" But uh...just Reine, and not any other...guests.

Her eyes slid towards Mister Cuddles at this thought, and then away.

Pulling her into the dress shop, Eva turned to look at Reine up and down. "Let's see, you look like a size..." She head towards the racks, gesturing towards the blue dresses. "So! How do you want to do this? Just...dive in and search?"

"Blueeee?" Reine was about as clueless as a panda with a pancake, and she let Eva lead her into the shop. It was terrifyingly frilly, and the girl contented herself with trying to keep out of the way of other, more fervent patrons who were pulling dresses off practically every rack. She clung a little tighter to Eva when her friend said yes to the party- at least she wouldn't be all alone there!

"I'm not a very good swimmer," Reine admitted, going with Eva's metaphor. "How about I just sit on the beach and tan a little or something?"

Except now she wasn't sure where that particular metaphor was headed anymore...

Even if Reine didn't know where she was going with the metaphor, Eva seemed to understand as she laughed, pulling the girl forward. "Nope, sorry, we're going swimming. I'll teach you so that you don't drown."

Turning back to the racks, she hummed thoughtfully as she sifted through the blue dresses. "Lesson number one: ...um. Dive into the pool?" Reine seemed uncertain with the idea of picking out a dress, but Eva couldn't do it for her either--the most important thing was that the wearer liked it, after all. It would help if they narrowed down the options, though...

She grabbed two dresses that were polar opposites and held them up. "Do you like shorter dresses, which usually have some ribbons and ruffles," She held up the dress in her left hand, "Or longer dresses, which give off a more mature feel?" Up went the gown in her right hand.

Drown. Reine gulped, clinging to Eva as the girl dragged her around. It sounded so ominous, and she imagined being sucked into a whirlpool of silk and tulle chiffon and ricotta.. wait, was the last one actually a type of cloth?

"Isn't there... um." Reine looked at both of the dresses suspiciously. She jabbed at them sharply, as if attempting to intimidate them into doing something or the other, but they felt surprisingly nice and soft.

Still, she wasn't quite fond of either of the two.

"Something in the middle?" While the plainer, longer dresses did look nicer, she did prefer shorter dresses.. they looked so much easier to move in. At least she looked a little less terrified, even moving around the store and touching the dresses.

Eva nodded approvingly at Reine's answer. "Very good! You've passed the first test!" ...Test? What test? They were having a test?

She made a face as she looked between the two dresses that she held. "These are kind of the...the extremes, if you will. One is too boring," She looked to the long one, "And the other is..." She stared at the shiny, ruffly, and ribbony monstrosity that she was holding, shuddered, and shoved it back onto the rack. The long dress followed shortly after.

As Reine began to walk around and investigate on her own, Eva--with a grin on her face--turned to sift through some of the dresses to see if she could help find anything that would suit her friend. She was also hoping that she'd run over something that she would like herself. Something...purple, maybe? Something purple, short, and maybe kind of ruffly...

The next dress that she pulled out was lime green and had tacky rhinestones glued along the bodice. Eva wondered who designed these things.

"Did I get an A?" Reine turned back to look at Eva, and winked. "They're extremes, all right," she grimaced. "But how about you- what're you looking for?" Reine wouldn't trust herself to pick something out, considering she was mentally comparing the dresses to see which looked most like a nice comfy t-shirt and would go okay with jeans, but she was sure that if Eva listed a couple (or triple) of descriptors, she'd be able to help her friend find something.

Wandering over to another couple of racks, she suddenly realised that it was almost like.. looking for two needles in a haystack. Without even knowing if the needles existed in the first place.

"Alriiiiiiiiight." Reine rolled her sleeves up, and glared at the rack immediately in front of her. "Challenge accepted."

"A+!" Eva chirped cheerfully, her gaze momentarily flickering away from the dresses to fall on her friend, "And I'm looking for...maybe a shorter dress. And something purple to match Chara, I guess!" The bright purple was a litttttle blinding at first, but Eva found that she had gradually gotten used to it.

...And now she actually kind of liked it, bright or not.

Chuckling at the seriousness in which Reine was regarding the dresses, Eva went ahead and followed suit, rolling up her own sleeves. "We can do it between the both of us! There has to be some treasures among all of this...uh..." She pulled out another hideous dress, gave it a once-over, and then promptly shoved it back.

"....SO, Reine. Going to dance with anyone?"

"Yes!!" Fistpump. Reine winked at Eva, then twirled away to examine more dresses on the racks. There had to be something somewhere, something... and if Eva was looking for bright purple, it couldn't be hard to miss! She was sure she didn't want something too bright for herself, though. What colour...

Blue to match Ally, probably, if Eva was wearing purple for Chara. So they would match, in a sense.

"How about this one?" Reine pulled out a dress somewhat hesitantly, then breathed a sigh of relief when it wasn't immediately horrendous; in fact, it actually did look sort of nice. Frilly, but not overly so, and though the purple was bright, it wasn't gaudy.

"... Wait, dance?" Her eyes darted from one thing to another, nervously. "I can't... um, dance." She had never been expected to, nor had she taken much of an interest in dancing throughout her life. The most she had planned for the party was chilling with friends, and probably enjoying the refreshments. What else did you do at parties?

Reine hadn't the slightest idea..

Eva stared at the dress that Reine pulled out, giving it a quick look-over. And then again. And then one more time. Finally, her lips began to spread into a wide grin. "Reine, has anyone ever told you that you have a great eye for dresses?" Honestly, that dress looked perfect! And when she compared it to Chara's color...

Yup, that would do nicely.

She reached out to take the dress from Reine as to free her friend's hands, draping it over one arm as she continued to search among the dresses. After all, she might have had her dress (which she would probably have to try on briefly just to make sure that it fit correctly), but Reine still needed hers. She continued to sift through the blue dresses when she suddenly looked up in surprise.

"You don't...oh! Well, if it's a matter of not knowing, that's not a big idea--I'm not that great either. Just let the other person lead." At least, that's what she did, and it seemed to have worked fine for her after all this time (not that she had danced very much, or with many people). "And, I mean, despite all the fancy clothes, I think it'll be a pretty casual get-together."

Tapping her lip, Eva eyed the rack of blue dresses thoughtfully...and then suddenly pulled at least 8 or 9 out. "Any of these?"

"I do?" Reine looked at Eva slightly dubiously. And then, a little hopefully- "You like this one?" It seemed the girl, if she didn't actually have a great eye for dresses, could at least follow instructions; it was so much easier when Eva actually knew what she wanted.

Letting Eva take the dress, Reine couldn't help but smile a little at her success, though she was still at square one herself..

"Let them lead.." she mused. "I guess I can do that, but honestly? I'm not that interested in dancing, so I'd just rather not." A far cry from her usual do-all-the-things attitude, you had to wonder if maybe she'd had some traumatic experience in the past with dancing. Frowning, she shuffled past a few more dresses, then looked up again when Eva called her.

"Uuuummm." Number five caught her eye straight away. There was a sort of elegance to it, as simple as it was, and the ruffles weren't overly poofy, plus it had a pretty blue-purple gradient. "That one," she said, more decisively than she had intended.

"Evie, you're a lifesaver!"
PostPosted: Thu Jan 26, 2012 3:02 pm

"I do! And it matches Chara, which is a huge bonus." Maybe Eva was just picky, but now that she had Chara with her all the time...well, it kind of just bothered her if she wore something that didn't match her weapon's bright shade of purple. Considering how her usual outfit consisted of black, white, and purple anyways though, it wasn't all that difficult.

Eva didn't push the topic of dancing--God knows that she had been terrified of the idea of dancing with boys when she had been a little younger--and it wasn't that big of a deal anyways. After all, they could have just as much fun hanging around and being silly, right?

The girl beamed brightly as it seemed that Reine took to one of the dresses that she had grabbed. Glancing towards the dresses that she held, she picked out the one indicated and shoved the rest back onto the rack. "I think you'll look great in this dress," She grinned, holding it out for the girl to take, "Let's just try these one real quick and then pay for them if we like them."

So Eva literally went to the dressing rooms to do a quick try-on before determining that yes, this was the dress for her.

"Pfffft. Flattery won't get you anywhere, Eva." Winking at her friend, she disappeared into the next cubicle, and tried the dress on.

Flattery won't get you anywhere, Alynthe parroted, but Reine was far too happy that the dress fit and didn't slip right off her to take much offense

Dress shopping, check! Changing back into her clothes, she exited the dressing room, and raised her palm to Eva for a high-five.

This made the last thing on their list. Even if it wasn't, Reine was carrying too many bags and too much teddy bear to be able to keep shopping any longer. They queued up to pay, both thankful for the Christmas buy-one-get-half-off-the-second promotion the shop offered, and then exited, still chattering to each other.

"Productive day, huh? I don't look forward to wrapping all these, seriously." Even the thought of going back to Deus couldn't get her down, not after a fun day out with Eva.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 26, 2012 7:44 pm

That was that! Grinning, Eva returned the high-five enthusiastically before they went to pay. Man, that had taken a while! It really was hard to figure out gifts for everyone...but hopefully they would like what she had gotten them (and what she intended on making them too).

"Really productive! And I don't look forward to making all of these." Laughing, Eva lifted one of the yarn ball-filled bags before sighing. It would take some work, but hey, there was still plenty of time until Christmas. She was sure that she would be able to finish everything by the time the day rolled by.

With their mission complete and their wallets empty, the two girls headed back to the portal.
