This time, Shadow managed to dodge the beam. The noise still irked her, but at least it didn't cause her any pain.
"Nice job!" Zinnia shouted with a grin. "Use Drain Punch!
Shadow dove at Shimmer again, drawing back her paw for another punch.

The Lapras cried out in pain as she was struck hard once more, feeling the life being drained from her into the Mew. She continued firing the beam desperately, more out of sheer determination than anything else.

Feeling her strength return, Shadow was able to pick up the speed and avoid the annoying bug sirens. She let out a sigh of relief when she managed to avoid any damage; the fight was nearly over.
"Give her one last Drain Punch, and make it count!" Zinnia commanded. She was grinning, feeling confident-- even cocky-- that she now had the upper hand. She still had Zyk up her sleeve, after all!
Shadow Mew threw what she hoped would be her last punch before a very nice, long rest.

"Oh no..." Chloe recalled Shimmer and tossed out her Ultraball containing Bandit again, "Give it your best shot, Bandit." She didn't sound hopeful.
Bandit burst forth and to his surprise was still up against the dark Mew. He jumped and began to spark again, shooting lightning wildly and hoping to hit her.

Shadow Mew shuddered as the thunder bolt hit her, but she remained in the air.
"Okay, that's enough! Shadow, use U-Turn!"
Shadow Mew darted at Bandit, making a sharp U-turn and returning to her pokeball next to Zinnia. She was glad to be able to take a break.
"Zyk, it's your turn!" she said, releasing her other pokemon.
"Zuuu!" Zyk squeaked, quickly assessing the situation using sonar. He was relieved to find that Zinnia was unhurt. In fact, it seemed like the battle was almost over. Well, he wouldn't let Zinnia down!

Well, at least she knew what this trainer's other pokemon was. Just a zubat, wait... Why were all the pokemon she had grey? It probably didn't matter much at the moment. "Thunderbolt, Bandit!"
Bandit panted and was barely able to keep standing on his wobbly legs, but he sparked and launched the attack nonetheless, very much hoping that this would end soon.

Zyk winced as the super effective move hit, but with a defiant squeak, he kept flapping his wings to remain in the air. He would prove how strong he was to Zinnia.
"Bite, Zyk!" Zinnia called out.
Zyk winged his way toward Bandit, fangs at the ready.

Even as Bandit was beginning to crumple to the ground from the hit, Chloe recalled him to his pokeball, her expression grim. "I have to be going." Her tone was icy, and she immediately turned and started heading back towards town. For a few seconds there, her cheerful, innocent cover-identity fell off of her and she showed her true self.
"See you around." She offered with a poor attempt at a smile as she left, trying to put her happy face back on if only to avoid some sort of accident or blowing her cover.

Zyk proudly landed on Zinnia's shoulder, ready to get his pets and praises for a job well done. His acute ears definitely picked up on the ice in Chloe's tone, though, and he brandished his sharp, venomous fangs at the retreating trainer, though Chloe probably would not see it. He puffed himself up huffily. No one hurt Zin while he was around!
Zinnia, however, either did not pick up on Chloe's sudden change in personality, or she decided not to dwell on it. Her smile was bright and genuine, and she lifted one hand to wave as Chloe left. "Yeah, see you again! Let's battle again sometime!" She watched Chloe go for a while longer, then realized that she had to get back to town, too, to find a pokecenter. She walked quickly after Chloe, but the other trainer was already so far ahead that Zinnia decided to let her go. Perhaps they would bump into each other again in town.
