"Nah, but Desiree is both a regular electric and a bass electric, so in a way I play two instruments in one," he said. "Flute... flute... Oh, Xiu plays a bamboo flute, but I don't know if that's what you're aiming at. We got a handful of guitarists, two ghouls that can play piano, one who can also play the violin, a snare drummer, a drummer drummer, a singer, but I'm not thinking of any flute players that I know of. At least not in the FMC," he told her, frowning slightly.

"I would say... to ask the guy that teaches music, but I really hate the b*****d," Roch said honestly. "We could probably find you a teacher somewhere, maybe post on groanspring or something?"

His face went blank. "Really," he said. "So you'll believe the news before asking the guys that went, huh?" he asked. "Seriously a dangerous thing to do when you're one of us now," he told her quietly. He glanced around, seeing where the boogies were, watching to see if they were listening. "She did go a bit nuts, but there was a reason for it. And she died--not retired--DIED trying to save a lot of my friends. She died a hero. I don't give a jack what people that weren't there say on the matter."

Then he gave her a crooked grin. "And I only hate Blue because I'm a freakin' music fanatic and dislike how he teaches. Nothin' to do with how crazy he is, or anything like what you said. I just can't agree with a music lesson that doesn't TEACH you anything."

His voice went lower. "We went on a field trip to the human world. It was a boogeyman training facility that we were supposed to go through in groups. But we weren't alone. There were these bastards in white coats that attacked us--kidnapped us. And Red... well, I ain't sure exactly how it happened, since I was fighting someone else at the time, but she turned into a monster. She wound up dying there. As in DEAD dead, not just dissipated. They tell you she was forced to retire? Well in a way she was. Permanently. She saved a lot of students, even if she was insane, and the hunters left..."

He was so quiet that they had to listen closely just to hear it all. "They're out there. They see us, they know our names. But all the boogies are doing is covering it up by saying she was insane and hurt us. I don't carry a scar from Red, I carry a scar from them."

He unzipped his vest, turning so his back was to her and revealing the shockingly white scar that crossed the upper part of his back. It was healed, but still vicious looking. "Pretty sure Red didn't use a whip, she was a werewolf, not a reaper," he said calmly. He shrugged the vest back up, zipping it with a casual move, as if he hadn't just flashed his back at the ghoul. "Besides, she wasn't even there when I got this."

"They are NOT reapers," he said firmly. "You're a reaper. I'm a reaper. Neither of us trap innocent students and shove them in cages like animals. They are hunters, bastards that take some sort of sick pleasure out of beating on us, killing us, and trapping us. They're humans," he snarled. "And they look like us, and they talk like us, but they are not, nor will they ever BE us."

He took a breath, forcing himself to calm. "You're right. You weren't there, I can't expect you to believe me," he said quietly. "Believe what you want, if you stay in this school long enough you'll find out sooner or later."

Then he started for the amp, walking away from her.
