"Worried? Kind of." Mot murmured, eyeing the partition carefully since Roch seemed to be suspecting something. He lifted his head, smiling wryly. "I'm being selfish, I think. I want her all to myself. But she's free to have friends other than me." Mot shook his head, sliding out of his chair.
"Yeah, I shouldn't be here."

"...Oh? But...you never seem bothered when I'm with Hel." Though she was looking at him with what seemed like wide-eyed curiosity, the baku was really just trying to guide Mot in a certain direction. If she was mistaken and he didn't have those feelings, then fine. But if he did, then perhaps all he needed was that little nudge.
But if he didn't seem to understand--or didn't want to understand--then she certainly wasn't going to push him.
Rising to her feet as well, Xiu gave a little nod. "If you want to leave, we can just go now."

“Uh…no…?” But now that Roch brought it up, Hel was looking around as well, just because it was brought up.
Her dual toned gaze settled on the stage as well, and she blinked before giving a short chuckle. “But challenges are meant to be entertaining…and fun.” The reaper probably wasn’t helping him out at the moment, encouraging him like that. Her attention then shifted to the hot wings once they arrived, and then back to Roch. “…Ah, yes…I believe this is all I will have…” She grabbed a few and placed them on her plate, idly moving them about with her fingers. “…That bet…and the upcoming battle with Mot…it…” She didn’t want to say…’bothers’…or ‘concerns’ but…”…It has me feeling unlike myself.”

"Hmmm," Roch said, leaning back and munching on a wing. "How about this," he said. "If Mot confesses to Lizzy, you know, if you win, and she says yes--" He gave her a little grin. "Then you and me, what do you say, we start dating for real? It might be an entertaining way to get over s**t."

"That's true.." Mot didn't really care if Hel hung out with other ghouls. Then again, he didn't personally know many boils. Not as many as he did ghouls, anyway.
As he got up, he heard bits and pieces of Hel and Roch's conversation.
That bet... with Mot.. feeling unlike myself.
What do you say we start dating for real.
He didn't want to know. Hed just pretend it didn't bother him. It was ridiculous how badly it bothered him. Mot nodded to Xiu, and shifted his way out of the cafe by hiding behind many tables and bigger fellows until he was back on the street.

When she caught what was pretty much the same scraps of conversation that Mot did, even Xiu's eyes widened. Seriously, Roch? In front of Mot--right, he didn't know they were there. One look at the cowboil's face and Xiu knew that they should leave. She followed after him, using her small size to weave around all the other customers and tables until they were both finally outside. She emitted a sigh of relief, and then turned to look at Mot, her voice growing softer.
"Are you okay? ...What do you say we head back to school?" She would have asked if he wanted to talk about it, but doing so here--in the middle of a street while Hel and Roch were close-by--didn't seem like the idea place.

The reaper tore the bits of meat off of the chicken wing, glancing up at Roch curiously, until she choked, hearing his words. The ghoul made a fist, and pounded it against her chest, until she managed to swallow the food she had eaten. “What?” She asked, completely flaberghasted. “No offense friend, but that is a terrible idea! I don’t have those kinds of feelings for you at al—“
Hel paused, catching sight of two beings out of the corner of her eyed. She turned her head, staring at their retreating forms for a long moment. How weird. They kind of reminded her of Mot and Xiu…but dressed differently. Her brows furrowed more, and she couldn’t seem to keep her eyes off of them, and it was made harder by the other beings walking around them, until she recalled she was in the middle of a conversation. The valkyrie tore her gaze away from them, and back to the punk reaper. “…and don’t you need those kinds of feelings to date someone?”

"Those feelings suck," Roch said, turning and following her line of sight. He didn't... wait, was that a LACK of surprise on his face? What? "I'd much rather date someone just to have a good time, no drama necessary."

Mot nodded. "Yeah, let's just head back." Mot didn't seem happy. Not at all. He just couldn't figure out why, but his heart felt heavy, and his mind went sluggish.
He looked completely depressed.
The reaper led the way down the road toward Amity.

Poor Mot. Ears drooping, Xiu reached out to give the cowboil a quick, comforting squeeze. She wasn't sure when or how...but she definitely hoped that this issue would be solved soon. Perhaps if Mot and Hel had a private chat...
But not now. The baku was silent as she followed after her friend on the path back to school.

Hel was half-blonde, so it shouldn’t have come as a surprise that she failed to recognize Mot and Xiu at the moment. Besides, it was hard to make the connection when the boil across from you was saying they should date. Hel just looked at Roch with a lost expression.
“…Uh…but it is because I have those feelings…for him that I…” Her brows furrowed. “…But the way you and I are now, that is good, right? I still have fun, and we enjoy each other’s company, yes? Ah…I do apologize friend…but at this point in time…the only being I would even want to…you know…” She pulled some meat off of the hot wing. “You know.”

He gave her a crooked grin, grabbing a wing as well. "Yeah, I know," he said, turning to watch for a few seconds longer as they disappeared from sight. "But... y'know, I'm startin' to think that sometimes knowin' and doin' are two different things entirely."
Then he let the subject drop, not nearly as bothered by this rejection as he'd been by his others. At least he had seen this one coming.

Regardless, Hel gave Roch a grateful smile. He did know, and that really did help her out. She popped the piece of meat into her mouth, letting out a satisfied hum. Yes, this was really good. She also gave a nod of her head. “…You know…I can agree friend…that I can agree with.” She was silent for a moment longer, thoughtful.
“…Thank you, Roch. I really do appreciate it. You are a good friend.”
