"I may have the stubborn attitude of a bull..."
"..but I have the strength to match..."

Alephonze The Protector KaidoUser Image

Alephonze looked to her as she spoke Ophelia was always so much more hopeful towards the world. Alephonze was very envious of that fact. As he looked to her he laughed just slightly and ran the fingers of his bare right hand through his hair. His eyes closed. As he looked into Ophelia's blue eyes. He knew. Despite his intentions his sacrifice would be necessary for Cael, but the approach that she had to it was slightly different than what he or what he assumed Cael would ever think. While it was true that some of the Shengxiao were stronger than any single Scion, Cael and Alephonze made a combo that was near unbeatable. Maybe their weakness really lay in the fact that they both were battle minded. Cael focusing on saving all of the Scion. Alephonze on making sure he could do so by saving him. For some reason it hadn't dawned on him until this moment, but couldn't it just be that they would need to fight together as they had done back when they originally became friends.

Alephonze extended his left armored hand, the armor itself slightly adjusting with a small clank as he did so. A smile coming across his face, his head leaning slightly to the right with his eyes closed, a true honest smile from Alephonze.

"I think I give you just the right amount of credit, Ophelia. I think you don't give yourself enough. I promise I will not allow Cael to sacrifice himself, and I promise that we will protect everyone and come back together. Most importantly we won't do this to return as victors...we will do it to restore everything back to the way it was with everyone happy and when we do, we will all celebrate together like we used to. Promise me you'll wait for that day, and you have my word, Ophelia..."

Alephonze's hand remained outstretched among the cold frosted environment made of Ophelia's feelings and somewhere within himself Alephonze wished for this to maybe make it a bit easier for her to return to her normal self and return the domain to it's normal oasis like glory.

"...So watch it"

Ophelia returned her gaze to the cold pond and listened silently while Alephonze spoke again. She smiled when he said that he would protect Cael and the others. As along as everyone was okay, Ophelia was satisfied, and knowing this calmed her down a little. She looked at the hand he extended and placed her own, a small smile on her face.
"I'll hold you to it," Ophelia stated.
Suddenly, all of the ice melted and the sound of water filled the air once again.

As the warmth returned Alephonze basked in it. Lifting his face to the newly arranged sunlight for her domain. With that Alephonze turned and placed his hands in the pockets of his tan hakama pants and began walking towards the gateway. As he neared it, the gate opening, he turned to Ophelia and with a smile stated.

"Once this is all over, we'll take a trip to Earth and get the ingredients for me to make ice cream again."

Alephonze exited the Aquarian domain entirely unsure of who that little talk helped out more. As he reentered the main area He found a cozy spot just far enough from the main courtyard to be in earshot, but not too far to where he wouldn't be able to see what was going on. He lay down on the grass allowing the gentle breeze to flow over, him He placed his hands behind his head, his elbows jutted out he bent his right knee at an angle and let his other leg stretch out closing his eyes and allowing the remainder of the conversation to be carried out.

Leith §The Diplomat§ Pisces

Leith smiled back at Cael, though the negative feelings in that little group were enough to make him almost wish that he hadn't come out to the courtyard in the first place. The tension eased as both Ophelia and Alephonze left but he felt bad for not even being able to speak with them. No matter, he would visit them later. "I see. You've gone and made Ophelia run off. Have you no shame dear friend?" He kept his tone light and teasing, never one to show his own emotions at all. If he were to be truthful, he would have to say that he was highly stressed but that would have done Cael no good at all. "Oh, things aren't looking so bad I suppose. Though I believe that another trip to speak with some of the Shēngxiào wouldn't hurt if you would allow it. Some of them are getting restless as I'm sure you know. Nothing that I can't handle though I believe." Really, he wasn't sure if he could handle it this time.. Such hostility and bloodlust could only he soothed for so long by words alone and he had been helping to keep the fragile peace for years now. His words seemed to be falling short.. A sharp stab of panic and worry hit him suddenly though he hid it expertly to the point where even someone like Ophelia would have trouble sensing it. Yet another perk that came with being such a strong empathist. "How are things on your end?"

And we wake up in the breakdown
With the things we never thought we could be

Endellion took a glace at the clock on the wall before neatly jotting down a final figure and setting down her pen. Carefully, she lined up the thick stack of papers, setting a black polished stone atop them to keep them in place. Cael had to be back with news of the Shengxiao by now. Listening a moment, she could hear the sound of voices from outside her room. There were books stacked on the desk in piles, each containing different information about the Shengxiao, and wars that their predecessors had waged against them- as soon as she had heard that things were amiss once more, she had started researching, seeking all the information that could be found about their potential enemies and meticulously compiling and organizing it. Informed plans were the best kind- no good strategy had ever been born of poor information, and if it never came to war, having the data on hand could harm no one.

Checking to make sure that her hair was still in place, and glasses straight, she headed for the door, opening it partially to look out. In the main area, some of the others stood together- Iustitia, she noted prudently, so no lies would be spoken when she asked questions, and, as she had hoped, Cael. Leith too, she noted, glad of his presence- the Diplomat always smoothed things out, and he might know more about the current situation. She slipped past the door and shut it carefully behind her, walking over to the other three, shooting Leith a quick friendly smile at the greeting.
"Hello, Leith. Any news?" She asked, diverted for a moment despite herself by his light attitude, eyes going immediately to Cael after. He looked grim- always a bad sign from the calm Guardian.

She gave Alephonze a small nod, a wave and a small smile as she passed by where he lay in the grass before stepping forward to the others.
"Iustitia, Alephonze." She greeted them, glancing at each for but a short moment before turning to look directly at Cael once more.

"I would have joined you sooner, if I knew you were back. I was at work, gathering information on the Shengxiao . . . should we come to blows, I will not see us go in without sufficient knowledge of them. Will we need it?" She asked, brows drawing slightly, also glancing at Leith. His input would be good, but as diplomat, he was always hopeful of peace. Here, Cael's more direct answers would better suit her needs.

Endellion did not like war particularly, despite the slight allure of the challenges it presented. It hardly mattered though- war was to be averted at all costs, but if it came, it came, and they would be ready. She waited for the answer, ignoring the unease in the pit of her stomach. She knew that Leo, Taurus and Scorpio would give their all to protect all the Scions, as Aquarius would heal the wounded. So it had always been, for when war came, all the Scions took up their duties in arms. Her memories of that last war, so long ago, were not complete, but she could remember the stone walls she had surrounded them with, and attending meetings late into the night. Finding safe paths for retreat, or for sneak attacks.

'The sooner we know their intentions, the sooner we can start planning' she thought, pushing her glasses up slightly on her nose. 'I need to be ready . . . if I fail, the others could get hurt...No. That isn't an option. Her lips puckered, but she dissmissed the thought immediately, shoving it to the back of her head. There was no time to worry about it. Worrying helped no one. She would do all she could- there was no more to be done than that..

Leith §The Diplomat§ Pisces

"Ah, miss Endellion. Good to see you! You should really come out and get away from your studies and work more often. Talking of things other than war can be beneficial at times you know." The words were out before he could stop them, a tiny sign of his worry. Normally, he wouldn't have said anything about her dutiful studies and work that she did, though it did bother him sometimes, he just never really said anything about it. And then saying that talk of war was unhelpful? He wanted to slap himself for his stupidity. It was, after all, her job as the Pathfinder and Cael's job as the Guardian to speak of war in times such as those. "I was just telling Cael that I think I should speak with the Shēngxiào again." Stupid Leith, stupid.., he berated himself silently. Never show your own feelings or anything else that could hurt the others. It was sort of like his second job to be a counselor if needed or wanted by any of the Scions that he had taken upon himself. And what kind of counselor put his own worries on the ones which he was trying to help?

Endellion stiffened at Leith's remarks, but waited for him to finish speaking. She nodded at the second statement. "Certainly. . . Keeping communications open can only help." She said, to both him and Cael. She would leave the descision to those better informed, but to her mind, the more they spoke to the Shengxiao, the better.

"Leith, meaning no disrespect to your work, not all of us can do our job by socializing. If we are to fight the Shengxiao, there is no mistaking that it will be a dangerous war! By all means, optimism is good, and we ought do our best, all of us, to avoid war, but if we fail in that and war does come, being unprepared is a danger to us all! Knowledge of the enemy could be the difference between victory and defeat . . . I cannot do any less than get as much information as is available, to help protect everyone. To go into battle uninformed is to heighten the risk of injury . . . . I cannot allow that." She told him, gesturing around at all the Scions present, indicating those she served, adamant, but not completely without tact. Leith meant well, she knew, but now was hardly the time to tell everyone to lighten up! He was doing his duty, as Cael and Alephonze no doubt did theirs. How could he stand there and tell her to work less, on the brink of war? Arms crossed, she frowned at him, worried eyes wondering how he could misunderstand.

Talking of nice things was all well and good, but someone had to take care of these things. It was good to be happy, but practically speaking, she could not afford to relax. Work was work, and she could not neglect doing her part when the others were at risk. They couldn't afford to fight amongst themselves now, but this was a point on which she refused to cede.

As Alephonze left, a small smile appeared on Ophelia's face.
"Thank you Alephonze," she said before looking back at the water's surface.
Despite the waterfalls, the surface was completely still and reflective. She stared into the mirror like surface, to find her blue eyes staring abck at her. Ophelia brought her hand to the surface and ran her hand across it, changing the image. Slowly, the image became that of the courtyard where all the scions were. It seemed that Endellion and Leith had arrived, yet the others were still nowhere to be seen. Ophelia sighed when she saw their concerned expressions so she stood up and walked away from that pond and headed deeper into her domain to the clearest pull of all.

Iustitia silently watched Alephonze and Ophelia leave. She turned back to Cael. "So, what is the situation?" She asked agian, this time she expected a real answer. "I'm going to find out eventually, so I don't see why you try to hide it from me. It's not going to help anyone." She tried to keep her voice even. Lately, she'd been finding herself getting more frustrated at the other Scion, mostly Alephonze and Cael. It's the war, she thought, sighing.

Endellion's approach distracted her momentary. She nodded to her in greeting. She was about to ask her about the war when Leith walked up. She wasn't surprised at all when the argument started. "Is this really the time to have this disscussion?" She asked. Hopefully, they would stop arguing.

I hear their silence

Cael watched the people around him without saying anything, lost in his thoughts. He didn't notice what was really happening around him, until Iustitia said something. "Yes, she's right. Now is not a time for inner conflict. We need to stand together against the Shengxiao, and we will get nowhere if we are all infighting!" He was getting a little irritated now, with the threat of war looming large over his shoulder and all of the Scions disagreeing.

He took a step back, and regained his calm. "Please, we need to get together and actually prepare for war."

xxxx"Aaaalliiiiistaaaiiirrr~" A young voice whined as it echoed throughout the open mountainous region. "Stop playing with those stupid old cards and teach me that game you learned in the mortal world! ... What was it again ... sackor...?" The young voice - coming from a small young ram with a pink fleece - begged, jumping on top of the his summoner's head. The young familiar, much like his friend, had never been one to stay in doors for long periods, but when the male played with his "stupid old cards," the young lamb was stuck in doors for a period that even he could not see the end of. Even if the Aries' personal area was at the peak of a mountain, there wasn't very much he could do to play. He had to admit, though, it was a lot better than being trapped in their "quaint" room, as Alistair liked to call it.

xxxx"Hush now, Blaire... This is serious. We'll go play after I'm done. I have something important I need to look for..." The tall, silver haired male murmured. Holding the index and middle finger of his left hand together, he gently pressed them to his right temple. Suddenly, his eyes shot wide open, his once sea-foam irises became clouded, shrouded in white, and soon, his pupils were enveloped in the same white mist.

xxxxAs quickly as the vision came, it vanished, leaving a fearful expression to the Aries' face, and a milky white his already pale skin.

xxxx"What did you see, Alistair?!" The young lamb exclaimed, hopping back onto the male's head. With an expression like that... something was wrong and he could feel it. Alistair never had such a worried look upon his face when he used his left hand. "... Alistair, what was it? What did you see?!" Only a single statement left the Aries' mouth.

xxxx"War is upon us."

xxxxThe lamb went slack-jawed. "But we just had a war not too long ago! I thought we were done with war?!" Blaire exclaimed, gripping tightly onto clumps of Alistair's silver locks, bracing himself for a sudden change in speed as the boy headed for the door.

xxxx"I thought so too... but my visions was clear... on the path we are all on now... war is certain to happen. I'm sure the others already know, but I have to tell them, anyways. Maybe there's a way to change it, nothing is set in stone... and this is one vision I do not want to happen!" Alistair said, answering the lamb's questions yet filling his own mind with a thousand more.

xxxxAlistair raced down the rugged path that spiraled around his mountain and wound its way down to the entrance of his domain. He phased through a transparent, ruby wall that sealed his domain to only himself, and entered the courtyard. As he quickly spotted so many of the other Scions in the courtyard, other than just Cael as he was hoping, his facial expression changed magnificently. A bright smile beamed across his face.

xxxx"Morning everyone! Why do you all look as if you found a worm in your apple... or something I'm not sure how the mortals use that phrase." He asked, his tone light an airy as he tried to keep unwanted information from spilling out. What if they didn't already know? He didn't need to cause an unwanted uproar... His stomach dropped when he spotted Iustitia... he had to word his sentences carefully, even if he wasn't the best of liars, he could normally get away when hiding important information from everyone - everyone except her.

xxxxHe quickly pulled an orange lollipop from the depths of his ebony yukata, unwrapped it, and began lapping at it gently with his tongue. If anything could keep him from blurting out information, it was his stash of sweet.

Leith §The Diplomat§ Pisces

Leith shrank back a little at Endellion's sudden outburst and he hung his head, bitting his lip. "I.. I'm sorry. I hadn't meant to start anything of the sort.. I was just trying to get miss Endellion out a little more. For her own good you know?.." The argument sounded a little weak but that was truly all he had been doing. He had misread the amount of tension and said the wrong thing.. This was certainly not the time to be slipping up in his words! And then to top it off he had only made everyone there upset.. "I'm sorry.." he muttered again. Why couldn't he think of what to say!? He took the cord of his earphones between two fingers and fiddled with it nervously, something he almost never did. He knew why he couldn't think of the right thing to say, he just didnt want to admit it. He was afraid. Fear scrambled his thoughts as his own fear of failure at stopping the upcoming war mixed with all of Tye tensions and fears of the other Scions. He took a deep breath and tried to get his feelings back under control. Partially succeeding, he looked back up with a slightly pained expression.

All of these feelings were beginning to make him hurt physically; one of the many drawbacks to being an empath. "Pardon me miss Endellion for insulting you. I know that you are only doing your job. It just makes me so sad to think that you miss out in so much else. But what must be done must be done, especially in these times. So I'm sorry for what I said." It was the best apology that he could think of right then though he felt it didn't quite justify what he did..

He was glad to see another Scion, Alistair, come walking up. That is until he caught his feelings.. It seemed this day was only going to continue getting worse.. "I'm afraid that's partially my fault.. Or.. perhaps mostly..." he said, his voice trailing off in shame.

"I may have the stubborn attitude of a bull..."
"..but I have the strength to match..."

Alephonze The Protector KaidoUser Image

"Please everyone...silence yourselves"

Finally spoke up Alephonze. He remained in his laying position not so much as opening an eye as he spoke. His voice was just assertive and loud enough to attract the attention of the other Scion in the courtyard, but he kept that same voice refrained enough to ensure that he did not come off as if he were yelling at any particular person. He didn't want to make anyone seem as if they were in the wrong, however in this current situation with all the chatter it was most obvious that there was much worry among the Scion and this was understandable.

"Iustitia, The situation is as it was leading into the last war, The Shengxiao are attempting to devise a strategy that will allow this war to have a more favorable outcome than last time. They would rather bring the fight here this time being as last time in the Earth territory places them at a disadvantage, and their own world is too fragile to support war. Strategically we hold the advantage in this territory as well, so most likely they will depend on their overwhelming strength and warriors to overpower us and overrun the world of us Scion."

Alephonze finally open his eyes and stood, his right hand scratched at the back of his head and his left fell upon the waist of his hakama pants as he walked into the courtyard standing towards the center near Cael. Alephonze looked to each of the Scion as he spoke, he was truly out of his comfort zone at the moment but he felt Cael was too deep in thought to portray it, and out of a sense of friendship he stepped up to portray the information that they knew thus far being honest and hitting each person's concerns one by one might clear things up, however silently he was yelling to Cael Feel free to step in at any time! which he portrayed only though a glance between himself and Cael.

"The Shenxiao are at their strongest at, of course, the Chinese new Year. This is most likely when they will choose to attack. Leith has done his best in pursuit of diplomacy but for any of us that were around to deal with them, we know that that can't always succeed. If it comes to a way, then Endellion's distinct knowledge of them will be one of the major factors that decide our victory or defeat, for that we do thank you, getting some air is never a bad thing though. we can't have you becoming overwhelmed and shutting down on us. We need to focus and each one of us, use our own strengths to make sure that if this does happen...We are ready."

Alephonse knew, if the war came to Scion he had devised strategies as the protector, on how to defend this place. Of course, he would need to run them by Endellion being that she had the most information but at the moment it seemed the entire courtyard was too occupied for him to be able to run over such things. He did pick up a certain sense from Alistair that he needed to mention however.

"Alistair, you look like you've seen a ghost...tell me, did I die this time?"

Alephonze jumped to the what could be one of the worst outcomes, but said it with more of a humorous tone attempting to take away some of the nervousness that he showed. Of course his predictions didn't always come true, but he figured having some kind of idea of what was seen couldn't hurt

xxxxAlistair folded his arms into his yukata as he listened to the Taurus speak. He sometimes wondered why he wasn't the diplomat of the group, instead of Leith, but knew it was better not to ask. Letih did his well, and they wouldn't have had peace as long as they did without him.

Alistair's head turned to face the Taurus as he was spoken too. A small smirk flashed across his lips and quickly faded. Even if his visions didn't always come true, he had always taken them seriously.

"From what I could see... none of us had died... yet. The war began after our two groups were called to a meeting. Someone said something... out of line, which angered the others. Short vision even shorter, I only saw the beginning of the fighting..." He stated, staring at the ground. He decided to leave a few key aspects of the vision out. At least he wasn't lying.

He swirled the orange candy in his mouth, from cheek to cheek as he thought. Like the rest of his brethren, he dreaded the possible thought of war, but from what he could tell... it was almost certain. Several of their companions were lost in the last war, as did several of the Shēngxiào.

He turned from Alephonze to Cael and spoke softly.
"So, what are our plans? Should we try to work things out, Cael? I can't stand the thought of losing anymore of our kind."

Cael reached out, putting a hand on Leith's shoulder. "You did your best, Leith, and you did well on keeping the peace this long. Do not feel bad for not doing the impossible." He turned to the rest of the group assembled. Alephonze had pretty much covered, and cael signaled that by a single nod at his friend. "It's true. We need to prepare here, and make sure we are ready for the fight to be brought to us- because it will be. If you do not have the location of your key, I suggest you make an agreement to stay with someone who does. Welll, if you do not wish to fight, that is." He again shot a glance at Alephonze- who would definately want to fight with him.

He turned to Alastair and Leith. "If the war starts after a meeting gone wrong, then let's make sure we are preapred. Leith, I know you don't generally like taking anyone with on diplomacy meetings if at all possible, but from now on, please let me or Alephonze accompany you. I don't want a war, but... Let us prepare for all possiblities. I don't want to be caught unawares simply because no one wants a war."
