Hel gritted her teeth as the lycan managed to dodge her strike.
She more or less shrugged off the next swipe she received, though she noted that her fear shield was starting to get weak. Not good. The reaper let out a loud battle cry as she pulled her spear back and then swiped at the ghoul as hard as she could.

The swipe of her claws had been nothing to what Hel had retaliated with. The spear hit her dead on, making a clean cut across her upper chest. Mitsu staggered back from the blow a little unsteady on her feet all of a sudden.
The anger was still boiling over and despite the fact she could feel the end creeping up on her she lunged forward to attack, claws swinging and jaws snapping. She was ready to take a piece of whatever she could grab whether it was by tooth or nail.

They were getting so close to the end…this battle almost felt like a sudden death match.
After delivering a rather successful hit to Mitsu, Hel wasn’t flying away anymore, no, she was coming at the Lycan head on. Her spear was outsretched, aiming to lance the ghoul as she in turn reached out for her. Hel let out a snarl as Mitsu’s claws dug into her fabric and flesh, feeling her Fear shield about to give…

Hel no longer trying to take her time and strike and instead coming in a full force caught the lycan off guard. So much so that when she tried to retaliate it completely missed.

They really seemed to be in their latch ditch efforts now. Hel was slowing down considerably. She lashed out at the Lycan, though the strike was no where near as strong as it had been.

Mitsu could feel herself wearing down now, as with Hel her strikes weren't as efficient. She was starting to come back to her senses, shaking her head after a short again like she was waking up from a dream. HP: 3 - 1 = 2 Damage: 1

This was…utterly ridiculous.
Hel struck out at the Lycan once more, still hanging on, fighting tooth and nail to see this through to the end.

Mitsu was terribly sluggish now and couldn't bring herself to move and defend nor attack like she should have as Hel came in to nick her arm. The lycan wavered in place feeling her fear shield at its brink.

Hel was able to muster the strength for one last decent strike.
She struck the Lycan with her spear and then leapt away from her, staring her down intently as she held that position for a long moment. Then, she dismissed her spear. She was pretty certain she had just broken Mitsu’s fear shield…and as far as she knew, that meant the battle was over.
The ghoul placed her hands on her hips, straightening her posture despite how tired she now felt. “…You fought well, Mitsu.”

The last strike had done Mitsu in. Her fear shield had shattered and she felt the full effects, for the first time, of the spear head slicing skin. While her shield had been up she had been fairly numb to the pain only feeling a hint of it here and there.
For a moment it looked like Mitsu might try to attack again. She was still in something that resembled a stance though she was woozy. Teetering this way and then that the lycan stood staring at Hel before she finally fell forward landing on her hands and knees. Her strength had given out and she felt beyond exhausted.
As she shook her head again trying to clear away the dizzy feeling creeping up as black spots peppered her vision, she finally realized what had happened. What she had done. Or tried to do. "I....I still lost." In a way losing only strengthened what Hel had told her. If she had been stronger....Shun wouldn't have gotten hurt.
Tears started to sting her eyes again as she pushed herself up unsteadily on her feet. "Y...you were right...If I had been stronger....Shun wouldn't have been hurt." The tears started to fall then as the self blame took full force. "And he wouldn't have been so hurt if I hadn't carelessly charged in. He was there to watch my back and I couldn't even do the same." Her words were muffled as she tried to fight back crying and nearly losing that battle as well.
The lycan backed up from the reaper then, edging slowly toward the door. The fight was over now, right? Mitsu had lost so she could go back to her room?

Once again, Mitsu would find that she wasn’t allowed to leave. At least this time, it wasn’t because Hel wanted to battle her. The reaper rested her hand firmly on top of the Lycan’s head, looking down at her with a look of understanding. “It’s not just you, Mitsu.” Hel murmured. “We all should have been stronger.”
The valkyrie then wrapped her arms around the ghoul, pulling her into a tight hug. “But now that we know what needs to be done, there are no excuses. We need to become stronger. Together.”

Seeing the hand come toward her Mitsu hunkered for a moment, her ears falling back before she realized Hel was just patting her head. Her eyes opened as she stared up at the reaper with a rather pitiful look. There was nothing but silence that followed as the reaper pulled her into a hug, the Valkyrie's previous words still buzzing about her mind like a fly that wouldn't go away. " O..okay." Mitsu said softly, bringing up a hand between them to wipe at her eyes.

Hel squeezed her for a moment before releasing her, and instead placed a hand on her shoulder. “Come on friend, let’s go get you patched and cleaned up.” Never mind that Hel probably needed to get patched and cleaned up as well. She lead the way back out of the gym then, returning Mitsu to her room and helping to tend to her wounds before returning to her own dorm.
She had a feeling she was going to be in trouble…
