"Ah yes, cloth. Thank you Sister. Come let us work." Lattice smiled to her Twin some excitement showing through before it was quashed in favor of needing to focus.
Once everything and everyone was settled she selected the needle, the ink, and then she murmured a small prayer to herself and as she leaned forward she only stated, "Please, no matter what do not squirm while I work." Some people couldn't take the pain no matter how focused they are some felt they needed to move and fidget around and she wasn't sure if Roch was one of them and so it was best that she stated this now as suddenly the needle in her hand began to pierce his arm and bleed ink into his skin.
Lattice worked at his arm and would give him very little rest in between once she was focused upon her task and when she did pause it was only to ask her Sister for a rag to wipe away some of the blood so she could resume work.
There was no question she was enjoying this though it was probably uncertain which part of the process she was actually enjoying - the pain, the art, or just the feeling and smell of the ink. It was probably all of the above.

It hurt. Roch just gritted his teeth and bore with it. He hurt in a lot of ways recently, it had gotten to where he was just ignoring it--almost forgetting a time when he didn't have pain. In fact, it was almost a relief, this pain. It took his mind off of the pain of his back. This was a self inflicted pain, one that would result in something beautiful. Something lasting.
He kept his eyes closed, and focused on the music. That this was done by ghosts--no, he thought with a little twitch of his lips. This was done by Lattice. Lattice who had gone through way too jackin' much, ghost or not.
He would trust her. He decided to and he would stick to it.

Needle was a good helper; she might not have been the one putting needle to flesh, but the rest of it was just as good. The smell of the ink, the coppery smell of blood, the way Roch's arm lit up gradually in that special vision of theirs; it was all beautiful. As far as she could tell the only thing that would have made this better - excluding her picking up the inking needle herself - was if he'd make more noise. There was always something fun in drawing out sounds of pain, but that was probably because she enjoyed doing it too much.
The blue clad engraver sat on the opposite side of Roch, leaning over him carefully to avoid adding another boil to their list of pincushions, brushing aside excess blood and ink when she needed to. This was...really coming out beautifully! What a facinating thought to hold on to, she thought as she leaned down, pressing a hand against his shoulder in a reassuring manner.
It was habit, not out of actual concern.

Lattice's hand movements were firm and unforgiving not letting up until she was certain that the ink went into the skin. Stopping letting Needle clean away blood while she got more ink onto her tool before she went back in again.
Time passed and soon she was done wiping away the last of the excess blood and ink with an extra rag she had resting upon her lap and then turned toward her sister, "I apologize. I was greedy. The next one is yours," she murmured softly to her Twin as if she had simply eaten an entire cake all by herself. Despite Needle assisting her she still felt guilty after her earlier words of letting her have a hand in it beyond assisting.
Lattice had simply gotten so into her task that before she knew it she was done.
"Roch, does your marking please you?" She asked as she set the needle aside.

Roch's eyes opened and he looked around with a bit of confusion. It disappeared quickly, but it did make you wonder what he'd been doing... He glanced down at his arm, his eyes widening.
"Jack," he said quietly. "That looks awesome." Then he stared at it longer, turning his arm and ignoring how sore it was so he could see as much of the tattoo as he could. He looked at the sisters, grinning. "Thanks!!"

"There is nothing to forgive." Needle assured her with a smile. She would have done the same had there been a tool in her hand. Besides, the next one? Totally hers. She had leaned back to allow Roch a free range of motion, and after a moment she reached down to pick up a few bandages from the pile of items she had acquired to help Lattice.
"It looks fantastic! You have done a wonderful job!" There was something in the way she said it that brought praise to both of them; Lattice for engraving it, and Roch for the feelings that brought it life. Oooh Tattoos, so beautiful! Needle heaved a wistful sigh. Still, on to business!
"Turn towards me." She instructed sweetly, setting the bandages momentarily on her lap to bring up a damp wash cloth, gently patting away any futher excess of fluids. "Infections are still possible, please do not itch or peel the skin." The ghoul instructed, gingerly drying the area now. "If it begins to burn, come to see us again." It sounded like what she was saying had been said before; like a record, but a happily playing one. A well kept tattoo was a successful tattoo.
"Please keep it bandaged for a day or so to aid in the setting process." Now she took up the bandages again, not asking for permission before wrapping it around his arm.

Lattice blushed very lightly at the praise from both her Sister and from Roch as well. She was pleased that they were both so pleased, "It was nothing, it wouldn't be on your skin if it wasn't for your focus and emotion," she said quietly to Roch, "it is how we work when we tattoo. The ink draws from your focus and emotion and inspires us to put them to your skin."
It seemed to be the best way to explain it for the moment as she let her Sister go over the process of care and bandages, "I will give you a special salve to help you with the healing process, be sure to apply it each day, usually at least once or twice a day is good."
When she went to put things away she got a small jar from a shelf where she kept all of her inks and tools and brought it over to Roch and offered it to his free hand, "There you are, Roch."

"Thanks," he said, still grinning. "I really appreciate it. And I definitely won't cover it, either, except, you know, the bandages for a few days."
He stood, slipping the jar into one of his huge pockets. "I'm gonna take my year two exam and go home for a bit, but when I get back I owe you both a personal concert, okay?"

While Lattice took over the instructions, Needle took her turn to clean up, tossing the bloody, inky rags to see if they could be salvaged later.
"Good--" Needle paused, staring in his general direction. Concert. He just said concert...right? "A concert? ...As in, music?" The hesitation was in her voice, but she sounded a little on the excited side. "...Is it music one could dance to?" That, she felt, was an important question.

Lattice blinked behind her mask part of her wanted to argue that he didn't owe them anything but another part just told that part of her to shut up as she wanted to hear him play his music again, "Oh! Yes, please. We would love that very much."
Did Lattice sound a little excited just then? Why yes. Yes she did.
"Oh Sister! Roch plays the most wonderful music, I am sure he knows some that one could dance to," She said to her Twin and then looked toward Roch, "My Sister loves to dance, so if you know any music that you could play that would allow her to dance that would be the best."
She enjoyed watching her Sister dance. Maybe with enough cajoling she might join her Sister but for now she mostly planned to watch.
..Like a creeper.
"Best of luck to you on your Exam, I hope you make it through alright," Lattice said in a quiet but sincere tone.

"I'll be fine," he said calmly, shrugging only to wince slightly. "A little sore, hope it's not like that survivor game, but I'll be fine," he repeated. "Then... I'll see you two when I get back," he decided, giving them a little wave before he headed out the door.
Time to get out of the ghost dorm. Quickly. His brain was practically exploding with the knowledge of how many were here now that he was letting himself think.

Music, how wonderful! She hadn't danced yet, and she was sorely missing it. Then again, she was sore for several reasons. Once the goodbyes had been said and the boil was out the door, Needle turned towards her sister with a smile that was nearing to a grin by their standards.
"I like him, he's fun. We should bring him over more often." Did she realize he had been somewhat uncomfortable? Probably.

"Good bye for now Roch," Lattice said as he left, it was wonderful seeing him again and she was glad he made it ... mostly safe from the field trip.
Lattice uttered a small giggle as she approached her Sister and took her by the hands, "Yes, we shall invite him over more often," she confirmed. "Come I have made some inks and bought new tools for you to celebrate your new needle. We shall look them over together, yes?" It wasn't unusual for the Twins to celebrate each other's accomplishments with new things.
With a gentle tug she led her sister over toward her basket of goodies so she could show everything off.
All-in-all it had been a rather fine day.
