"Am I? I already delivered his message, so ...isn't he in my debt?" He wondered what the big deal was. "It's not like he's going to hurt me or do anything bad. He'd supposed to protect me. He hasn't even done that yet." Calder huffed, wanting to slip from under Barth's caring touch to squeeze the pillow.
"Why does it bother you? Christof has contracts with other demons." Riley being the top one. It was still sorta sweet that Barth didn't like any other demon mark on him. It was like he was wanting to keep him all to himself, and Calder certainly liked that thought.

"Depending on how West chooses to interpret the Contract. ...You think Christof's other Contracts don't bother me? They're his business, not mine. If I expect our business arrangement to be respected, I must respect his other arrangements. But like them?"
Barth shook his head, once.
"...I don't want other demons to mark you. Is that...is that alright of me? To ask?"

"Oh....well, that's okay. There's no reason for me to get a mark anyways. Not from other demons. It was just...something I did. I won't do it again if it bothers you." There really wasn't any reason to. Calder had wanted to make a mark with a demon only to have company. Now he had a demon who was here with him that didn't need to be forced or tied down by a contract.
"I'll...talk to West about the mark to see about the contract if it upsets you." He didn't want Barth to be bothered by it by seeing it on him.

"It does. Upset me. But this one's err, this one's alright for now," Barth said. West was a friend. And it was something like his first Contract. It still irked him to see, to think about the other demon's mark buried in Calder's skin. "...just get it taken care of soon. And no further ones."

"Okay." He said, glad the matter was being resolved, and leaning in to smile at the demon. "...but only because you asked nicely, and I don't want to upset you." He leaned in a little more. "I don't need marked when I have you."

Barth kissed him this time.
"Good," he said.
He wondered if the clan Calder grew up in had been peaceful. Calder seemed oblivious to danger. Barth had tried to explain it before, about the marks, but Calder only thought they were no big deal. They were for minor errands and small tasks, how demons made friends.
Barth knew better. It was how demons made a living. How they made merchandise. ...And sometimes, how they made their meals. It was like trying to explain the weaponization chamber. But he worried. That if Calder...well, got fed up with him being slovenly, or found someone...statuesque, with more energy, he might make the wrong sort of deal with the wrong sort of demon. Would it matter to Barth, then?
They would have time to talk about it.
They might even have time to see the wrong deal happen to someone else. But for now...
"We should err, we should probably tell Christof."

Calder grinned at the kiss, but it was soured with the mention of breaking the news to Christof. "We? Why does it have to be 'we'? He punches you less than he punches me. I'm still healing." He pointed out. He felt the new coming from Barth would work out with less fist throwing then if Calder went up and told the boil he was dating his master. It just seemed like a strange, dangerous area to trespass on and he wasn't sure how the Igor would handle it.

"Well err, I suppose...I could- I just didn't know if you wanted to err- since you're friends, and everything..." Barth hadn't expected the frown. "I don't think he's particularly less physical with me. But I don't see why he would be in this case- I don't mind doing it."

"Really? Oh thank you. I just think he'd take the news better from you than having me say it. I don't know, but he's rather possessive of you. I don't know how he'd react if I told him...well, that we're together. I feel like he'd blame me for going after you." He had been worried about the Igor's reaction for some time when he just been crushing on the demon.

Barth looked awkward. "He does get a bit, err-" violent. Very violent. Around anyone Barth was dating or mildly interested in, "but he knows you. You're important to him too, you know."

Calder leaned in and sighed. "Yeah, but you're MORE important to him. You always will be. Your his master. That's why it's better if you tell him. He values what you tell him more than what I say."

"I'm his...his friend too," Barth said, almost quietly.

Calder smiled apologetically, reaching out to pat the demon on the head. "Yes, you are. I'm glad that unlike someone else, you are a friend to him, but he is still going to see you as a master too. You also have a good way of calming him down if he gets upset. I only calm him down when he's sad, not when he's angry. I tend to just make it worse actually." He had tried, but Christof tended to ignore his words when he went off the handle and started hitting things. While Barth could stop him with a firm word, Calder usually could try screaming at the top of his lungs and have no affect on the Igor.

"I'll take care of it," Barth said, arranging himself as comfortably as he could. He could not, he reflected, wait for both of them to be something besides sore to the touch.

"Thank you, henny." He told the boil, smiling as he slowly made his way back up. He was still recovering, and he knew that he had to go back to retrieve his own medicine and rest again. "I'll have to reward you later." He said with a smile, giddy at the very idea that he had a boilfriend and now could do all the dates and things couples did that he always daydreamed about. Oh, he certainly was going to sleep better tonight with thoughts of dating in his head aside from nightmares about hunters and funerals.
