"... Thanks," Roch said, looking at Amrita. "You wanted to see if they had new failfish, right?" he asked her gently. "C'mon, let's go look," he went on, gently tugging her towards the rest of the fish tanks. He seemed shockingly calm, at least, until they got out of view of the shop owner.
"Jackin' Grandad stole my fish!" he complained. "That jacktard! That was MY fish!"

Roch was...remarkably calm. Scarily calm. She wasn't entirely convinced that he wasn't going to bolt, but she did get suspiciously hopeful that he was actually going to be alright. "Um...Y-yes, if you...don't mind?" A sidelong glance was taken at the shop keep before she stepped away with the Reaper, each step to the rest of the tanks just adding a little more hope to the pile, until---
Whelp, he certainly wasn't calm about it anymore!
"Oh Roch...I'm so sorry." She said again, giving his hand a squeeze. "But...it's your Grandad, Right?! M-maybe if you just ask for it, he'll...?" There it was again, that annoyingly optimistic hope of hers.

 The look he shot her wasn't exactly... reassuring. But it was rather evil, which meant he wasn't too traumatized, right? "Yeah," he said. "I'll just have to... ask him to give it back," he said agreeably. "We're family, after all. What's his is mine." Or it would be, soon enough, he thought wickedly. But not yet. No, there were way too many boogies around the campus for him to pull something like that off. But soon. Soon he'd get his fish back. "Come on, let's find you some more fish," he told her, looking remarkably more cheerful.

She wasn't sure that she liked the expression on his face. At all. Or the way he spoke. Or the way he suddenly turned chipper. Everything about the entire situation sent warning shivers through her entire undead self. All she could do was smile slightly, and then shake her head slowly.
"Roch...don't do anything stupid, okay...?" Amrita said softly, before going on with the whole shopping business.

By the time they returned to campus, both of them were fishless and it was night-time dark out. There had been little conversation after that aside from fairly jovial things, which was always nice. When it seemed that Roch was trying to herd her back towards her own dorms, the Vetala stopped walking entirely, suddenly hit with a wall of dread.
"No." She murmured unhappily, staring at the path that would take her to her home and latching on to the Reaper's hand all the tighter.

He blinked at that, wondering if something had made her stiff again. She'd seemed to be moving better, but-- "What?" he asked her. "You alright?"
He didn't know how to deal with ghouls, he decided abruptly. They were weird. It was bedtime, and he hadn't ran around this much in a couple of days. He figured he might be able to sleep decently--even if he did pull a few cuts open again.

"Oh, um, yes, I'm fine..." Squaring her shoulders, she tried to summon the will power to let go of him and to walk home on her own. Come on Amrita, it should be easy. Just let go of his hand, and put one heel in front of the other! So easy, and yet for all her efforts...she remained standing where she was, just latching on to her friend.
"No...No I'm not fine. I don't want to go home, Roch." She whimpered, the thought of being alone still hitting her. "I don't...I don't want to be alone again." The ghoul was shaking now, as though the idea was starting to being pain. "Can I...can I stay with you? Please? Just for one night? ...Please?"

He blinked. "Amrita... y'know... uh... I'm a boil?" he said, backing up a step. "And you're a ghoul, and we're both... over... you know, 13, and--" So freakin' awkward, especially with that pleading look on her face, and--
He gulped.

The pleading panic on her face was briefly overcome by confusion, but it was short lived. "So? You're a Reaper and I'm mostly-a-Zombie it doesn't matter!" She was missing the point, but she was at least relentless to the point of taking half a step to match the full step he'd backed up to. "Just, Please! I promise I'll be good!" Not that she was aware she had ever done anything bad on purpose, but it seemed like the proper thing to say.

He thought. He thought quickly. "... Okay, but ONLY if you promise to stay in the main room while I sleep in the karaoke booth, okay? I can leave the door open and all, but two different rooms."
Thank Jack for the karaoke booth, he thought silently. He wouldn't be doing something TOO bad if they did it like that!

"No." She said flat out, pouting unhappily and twisting some of the sling's fabric with her injured fingers. "That'll mean I'm still alone!" The ghoul whined, mostly to herself though it was relevant to her companion still. "Please, Roch?" Amrita tried again, apparently content to stare at him like this:

"No." Relentless. Completely relentless. She let go of his hand for real this time, instead pinching some of the fabric of his shirt between her fingers. All in all the gesture made her look more like a child, pouting up at her big brother.

"Why don't... why don't I take you over to Hel's? Or Xiu's? Or another one of the ghouls?" he offered a bit desperately. "You'd like that, right? They can do ghouly things, like fix your hair and stuff?"

"No." If she had any sort of feline or canine ears, they would have lowered pathetically. In it's place she just lowered her head, only lifting her eye to look at him. "Ghouly things are boring. Please, Roch? What are you afraid of?" More like; Why hasn't he agreed yet?

"It's just--it's not--" He gave in, sighing. He'd stayed awake full nights before, he could stay awake this one. "Okay, fine. We'll watch movies or something." But he definitely couldn't SLEEP with her, even if it was perfectly innocent type of sleeping.
