[ Izzy : Kokiri Forest ]
"I'm not sure, but I'm willing to bet it's not nearly as bad as those ruffians are making it out to be," Izzy said to Felin, trying to reassure himself just as much as her. He turned to Nado and whispered something to her quickly, before turning around and running straight for the meadow.
"H-hey!" Haelo exclaimed, realizing that he was leaving her behind. "Iz, don't leave without me!" She turned around and waved her arm at the others and say, "Come on, you guys, let's go!", and then she was off after her Kokiri.

[ Luke and Aroma : Keuredet Village : Bakery ]
Before he went to get his sister, Luke decided to return to his room on the second floor. It wasn't anything special, just a simple bedroom with a twin mattress lying on the floor and lots of junk lying around. The only noteworthy things were the walls. Three of them were plainly painted a blue-green color, but one of them, the one his bed was closest to, was almost completely covered in photos.
There were hardly any photos of himself, and most of those had someone else in them, or were group pictures with his family or friends. The majority of the pictures were scenery shots and random candid photos of the villagers. His favorite was a photo of him and his best friend Izzy, with the slightly hyperactive faery Haelo sitting on his shoulder. This photo had been taken in their secret hideout last year, but this whole photo collection stretched back as far as five years ago.
He grabbed his wooden pole and left the room, being sure to close it, then walked down the short hallway toward his sister's room.
"Hey Aroma, mom wants us to go to the Square. You ready?"
His sister, who had been setting up a bunch of her figurines on a shelf, gasped and turned to him. "Really? I get to go with you?" She set down the figurine that had been in her hand - a knight with colorful armor and a sword - and ran toward her older brother.
"Unfortunately, yes. Now come on, grab your coat."
The 10-year-old rushed to her pink coat hanging on the wall, then ran downstairs with her brother as he helped her put it on. "It's gonna be a fun day, bubba!"
Luke sighed. "It's going to be a long day..."

[Felin : Kokiri Forest]
Felin picked her feet up as Izzy and Haelo rushed into the meadow. She had no idea what she was doing, so her head was somewhere else, and didn't see the Deku Baba lurking around one of the bends as it popped up all of a sudden. Felin screamed, falling on her butt, and scuttling away from the plant monster. She had never seen anything like it before, but she now had an idea where Deku Sticks came from. The beast lunged, trying to eat her, but its roots prevented it from achieving its goal. Felin simply stared, as it retracted and tried again. I think I got it... Feeling brave, the next time it lunged, she kicked it with her boot, having no weapons on hand to physically deal with it. "Take that!" she shouted. It let out a noise, before shaking its head. Her boot apparently didn't phase it, but she didn't know what else to do. "Izzy..." she called to him, obviously in need of assistance.

[ Izzy : Kokiri Forest ]
Upon hearing Felin calling his name, Izzy stopped running rather abruptly and spun around on his heel. "A Deku Baba?" he thought out loud as he ran back to where she was. He had only seen a few of them before, and never had to fight one. But it looked like he was about to. He pulled a Deku Seed from his bag and, after aiming carefully for a second, let it fly.
It hit right on target, and the carnivorous plant monster straightened up, its mouth pointed toward the sky. "What...is it doing, Haelo?" he asked. A bizarre picture entered his mind, of the monster shooting straight out of the ground and flying toward him. Not a pleasant thought!
"It's stunned!" Haelo said, bouncing up and down in the air. "This is the best time to cut it down!"
Great, thought Izzy, that would work excellently if I actually had a sword or something!
Before he could even finish his thoughts, the Baba snapped out of its vulnerable state, and started snapping at the two Kokiri again.

[Nado : Kokiri Forest]
Nado really didn't think it was any business of Mido's to go bossing everybody around like that, but there was nothing she could do about it. Once Izzy had whispered to her to go back to the hideout and wait for "the giant", as she liked to call him, she had nodded and went on her way with a sigh. But that was before she noticed the danger that Felin was in.
She ran across the village as fast as she could, unsheathing her knife and praying for her feet not to fail her. Izzy was standing there dumbstruck while the plant monster was wide open, and she wondered why he wasn't attacking again. Not everything needs to be completely analyzed, Iz, she said in her thoughts, not wanting to waste valuable energy talking. She got there just in time, as the monster was once again lunging at the two.
Nado yelled a syllabic battle cry as she bolted to the rescue. The stalk was left wide open while it tried to attack Felin, so she gave it a good horizontal slash, chopping it clean open. The monster faded in a quick, colorful flame and puff of black smoke, leaving behind three Deku Nuts.
"Seriously, can't I leave you two alone for a minute?" she said with a wide grin. She then noticed the nuts on the ground. "Ahh, the spoils of war. Hey, there's one for each of us. I'd say that's a sign of a lucky day."

[Felin : Kokiri Forest]
Felin saw the Baba flinch and straighten up when Izzy had shot it with a seed. However, that didn't seem enough to stop or kill the beast. "Oh, great, now what?" As if answering a prayer, Nado suddenly burst in and swiftly sliced the beast at the root, to which it left behind some Deku Nuts. Felin just stared, unsure of all the commotion. She blinked a few times before coming back to reality. "Well that was...sudden. If the Deku Tree wants to give me a heart attack, he's doing a great job at it." she said sarcastically. "Just be thankful it wasn't something that could actually kill you without being restricted to the ground." Akin said, quite abruptly, though his point rang true. Felin stood up, turning to Nado. "I guess I owe you one." she turned to Izzy. "You too." She then picked up one of the nuts and stuffed it in a pocket. Lucky, more like hairy, she thought. Akin sat on her head, crossing his arms. "So, you think you'll be scared of any others that show up?" "Not as much now that I've encountered one." she looked at Izzy. "Well, shall we continue?"

[ Izzy : Kokiri Forest : Village ---> Deku Tree's Meadow]
"No problem," Izzy said as he picked up the last deku nut. "You know, there have been more and more monsters popping up lately. We didn't have any of them whatsoever before. I wonder what's happening...?" He was mostly thinking out loud; he suddenly shrugged.
"Yes, we should hurry up and get to the meadow before we have any more run-ins with the Deku Squad." Here he turned to Nado. "Thanks for the help, Nado. I'll see you soon." He then turned and continued along the path to their destination, trusting Felin to follow.
When he stepped out into the meadow, he could see the Great Deku Tree in the center. He wasn't quite as tall as the Old Tree, a deceased Deku Tree from ages past, which could be seen behind him, but not many of the other trees in the forest reached his height. There were many young faeries flying around the meadow, as they tended to do all over the forest; but their graceful, flowing movements around the Great Tree made him look even more majestic.
"Wow..." was all Izzy could manage to say. He had never been to see the Deku Tree; the sight of him in his meadow was truly something to behold.

[ Luke and Aroma : Keuredet Village ]
Luke whistled a happy song as he walked around the village, holding his sister's hand in his and guiding her along, mostly ignoring her pleas to visit "that shop" and "this place" and "oooh, I've never gone inside there, what's that?".
"That's the library, sis. That's where people go to get books."
"Oh, nevermind, I don't wanna go there. I read too much books."
"It's 'too many', not 'too much'. And there's no such thing as too many books."
"But I do read too mu....um...MANY, I read books 'bout food, 'cause I hafta be a baker when I grow up." Upon hearing this, Luke stopped walking, and gave his sister a puzzled look. She was staring up at him, obviously expecting a reason to why they had stopped. He began slowly.
"...Who told you that you have to be a baker when you grow up?"
"Mama and daddy," she said, quite matter-of-factly. Luke knelt down on the grass next to her and looked her in the eyes.
"Aroma, listen to me. When you get older, you can be whatever you want to be, okay? You don't have to be a baker. You can be a knight, or a tailor, or an alchemist for all I care. Just make sure that whatever you do, you're doing what you love to do. Okay?"
Aroma seemed to greatly ponder this for a moment, then gasped and said "Can I be a horse when I grow up?!"
Luke laughed as he got back to his feet. "I think, if you talk to Emily and Amy, they can do that for you. Now come on, let's go to the Square and get this job over with so I can get my camera."

[Nado : Kokiri Forest]
She nodded at the two, then, clutching the Deku Nut in one hand and her knife in the other, she turned around and ran back through the village. She turned left and ran up the hill upon which rested the Training Grounds, as well as the house in which Izzy lived with his cousins, the Know-It-All Brothers. She jumped over the yellow fences in the Training Grounds, bypassing a few other kokiri who were practicing their backflips.
With a smile, she turned on her heel and leaped into the air, turning a backflip over one of the boys. She flipped two more times before arriving at the forest wall, then gave a short bow as the younger boys and girls clapped their hands. Once they all went back to their training, Nado turned to face the wall and knelt down; there was a small tunnel here that any kokiri could crawl through, although very few of them ever did: the Hole of Z. This was the entrance to the Snapdragon hideout of the same name, and this was where she would be waiting. She started crawling through the tunnel, mumbling to herself about how unfair her orders were.

[Felin : Kokiri Forest]
Felin's jaw dropped when she saw the great Deku Tree. He was just...so huge! Never in her life had she seen such forestry grow to such a size. But bigger than the current guardian was, what she assumed as, his predecessor, dead and rotting. She wondered what happened to it... She didn't know if they should proceed forward, even slightly. She decided to wait unil the Deku Tree said something. Breaking the silence and the moment of awe was Akin. "Hey Great Deku tree, we got your message! Felin put a hand on her face, sighing. Why can't this fairy enjoy the moment? she thought. "Akin, will you shut up?" she whispered harshly to him. The fairy boy looked to the Kokiri girl and shrugged, sitting back on her head. "Just thought I'd bring it up." he said innocently.

"Ah, they have arrived," the Deku Tree said slowly, as if he himself were just waking up. "Come closer, my children, so that I may speak with you. We have much to discuss." Strangely, the Deku Squad were nowhere to be seen.

[Felin : Kokiri Forest : Deku Tree's Meadow]
Felin was a little shocked. It could talk? Well this was a new one on her. Nevertheless, she looked over at Izzy before heeding the Deku Tree's words. Slowly, she walked forward, each step nervous and slightly unstable. She didn't know what to make of his last line. 'we have much o discuss'. Either they were really in trouble, or he was going to give some kind of lecture. Though both were plausible, they were the only explanations that popped into her head at that moment.

Once the Deku Tree spoke, he nodded to Felin and walked with her down the hill towards the great forest guardian. Haelo flew back under his cap, and he smiled weakly as he felt her sit down on the top of his head.
What happened to "I'm sure it'll be fine"? he thought to himself, not bothering to tease his faery friend out loud.

[ Great Deku Tree : Kokiri Forest : Deku Tree's Meadow ]
"Thank you, children, and welcome. Do sit down. Now, as you know, there have been many dark beasts appearing upon our land. I do not doubt that it has troubled you and all your brethren, for until just recently, these monsters had reduced in number and fled into the shadowy corners of the land, leaving us in peace for many years. Some even dared to say they never existed at all. But as we have all seen, they are very much real. The world - even outside the forest - is changing slowly. There is something vile in the air, spreading over this world in a deadly grip. It strengthens the monsters, and pollutes the minds of living beings. Even we, in the sanctity of our blessed forest, have begun to feel it, and to witness its effects on our lives."
Here he paused, and stared hard at them, perhaps thinking of how he was to phrase what he had to say next.

[ Felin : Kokiri orest : Deku Tree Meadow ]
Felin pondered the words of the Deku Tree. Could this "vile pollution" be what caused the Deku Baba to attack her? Then again, she never saw one, so she didn't exactly know. It was plausible, the way it lunged at her. She shuddered, remembering how easily it scared her. And if something like that scared her, there was bound to be worse out in the world, waiting. If only I had some kind of weapon, she thought. then I'd be able to fend for myself.
