She was so dramatic, Roch thought with a bewildered little smile. "Not serious. Just serious about me," he said, shrugging. "I got turned down," he added. "But I'm alright with that. And I clearly need to work harder," he said as he headed for the door that led to the stairwell. Then he paused, looking up at the moon for a moment before looking at her.
"Hey," he said. "If you believe in me, I can't screw up too badly, right?"

"...Oh!" Okay, that made more sense in her head. "I'm sorry you got turned down, but...I'm also sorry, I don't really understand that stuff..." She said with a shrug, scratching the back of her neck. "But...I guess if she still likes you, keep trying...? Just, I think it'd be silly to keep trying if she doesn't like you?" With this subject, Amrita was all question marks; you could practically see them radiating off of her.
"Yes! And if you do screw up, it's my fault 'cause I wasn't believing hard enough!" THIS she knew about, though! Yay! She shuffled closer, her hands clasping behind her back while offering him a big smile; one that stretched further on one side, thanks to her bare skull's grin.

He laughed. "No it ain't," he told her. "All the things that happen because of what I've done are nobody's fault but my own. Never, ever forget that, Amrita. If I wind up screwing up--if I wind up caught by boogies, even--it's all because I deserve it." He held out his hand. "C'mon. Let's go back to school."
He never called it home. At least not his. He probably never would.

Again, all Amrita could do in response at first was to shake her head slowly. "I believe you'll do the right thing." She murmured, moving forward to grasp his hand again. As she turned her attention towards the moon, she spotted the horizon and just how high they were off the ground; with a squeak she hopped closer to him, half hiding behind him, but never letting go of his hand.

........... He almost fell over with that innocent statement. SO wrong. "So... wait, who's to say your idea of what the right thing is and MY idea of what the right thing is aren't different?" he asked. "I'm ninety nine percent sure they are, honestly."

Don't look at the horizon, Amrita. Don't look down, Amrita. Don't look anywhere, Amrita. Why are you still looking everywhere, Amrita?! STOP THAT STOP THAT STOP THAT STO---Oh! Roch's face made a good focal point! Yes, lets stare at Roch instead! Hmm, he was saying something. What was he saying? Something important, she was sure. About...differences?
"Mmm...Oh well?" She shrugged after looking thoughtful...and then looked troubled. "...What...do you think is right, then?"

He grinned at her. "See, now you're questioning if I'll do the right thing, aren't you?" he teased. "Didn't you just say you believed I would do the right thing?"

"I AM NOT!" Roch's tease was met with an epic, half-mouthed pout. "It's not that I...or you...just...but there's...aaaaa." She whined, lifting her free hand to worry at her curlier hair. Oh Jack, she didn't want to look bad! She really did believe in him, she was just curious! Her mind whirled and somewhere in her wiring a breaker busted, leaving her to incoherent arguments and baffled noises.

He started laughing. "I swear I'll never knowingly do something that could hurt one of my friends," he told her honestly. "Mentally, physically, or emotionally. But everybody makes mistakes Amrita. Me especially. That's all I can offer you, y'know?"

"THERE SEE I KNEW YOU'D DO THE RIGHT THING!" Someone flipped the breakers, all systems went back to normal functioning, and Amrita responded way louder than she intended. "I know everyone makes mistakes, Roch. I'm exhibit A." She wasn't pouting anymore, but she still looked rather stubborn. "I..uh..." Then, suddenly, her stubborn look deflated and she looked up at the Reaper, her expression almost pleading. "Umm, Roch...?"

"Canwegetofftheroofnowwe'reveryhighup." She squeaked out in one quick, long breath. No matter what she did she kept looking where she could see how high they were, and it was uncomfortable. Her feet longed to be on the ground, and Amrita longed to be there too.
