Lucas didn't say anything. Oh how happy he'd been just an hour ago! He slumped back down onto the grass.
"He's a lot of things, but he's not a liar." Lucas said with a heavy sigh. "At least, I don't think so."
He looked over at Fionna, now holding the letter. It was like her finding out she was a werewolf. He'd longed for it, for her to know. He longed to know what the letter said. But then, when the moment came, he realized it wasn't what he expected. Now that the moment was here, he didn't want to read that letter. He knew it would only contain horrible news for him. So Caiden hadn't cheated, then. Just the letter was good enough, he wouldn't have provided it, if it hadn't been true.
"He must want you back, really badly, Fionna." Lucas said, hardly above a whisper. He didn't cry. He wasn't angry. All the fight had just been drained out of him. Why had he blown up like that? Regret showed all over his face.
"I'm sorry I got so angry. I suppose I was just carried away." He looked over at her with a weak smile. "You tend to do that to guys, in case you haven't noticed. Anyways..." He stood up and stretched his back a bit. "I guess I'll just...leave you to your letter...and choice...and I'm sorry...and...well, I'll...I'll just...go..."
Lucas walked away and didn't notice Caiden leaning against one of the walls. He muttered to himself as he walked down the hall, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.
He should've known. He always should know that nothing will work out, that nothing can really be perfect. But he kept striving for perfection, to be with Fionna. Did he really think he'd have a happy ending? Yep. Fooled again.

She wanted to see that letter, but what if it was true and she had been wrong all this time? What was she going to do? She just couldn't ignore her feelings and relationship with Lucas. She would hate herself if she had put Caiden through this misery while he had been truthful the entire time.
She put her face in her hands wanting to cry, but refrained from it. After a few seconds she looked back up to see Caiden walking away. Lucas was standing there with arms crossed watching him, but Caiden turned back around and made a retort before continuing on his way.
FIonna didn't want to have to decide. She just wanted things to be less complicated again. Things had been going so well. She had managed to be friends with Caiden and forgive Lucas. Then she had found out about him and understood and was now dating him. The past few days had been great. She didn't want to have to choose! Why, why why.
Caiden came back before she could manage to say something to Lucas and he had something with him. The letter that he had told her about. His proof. It was the thing that would most likely decide if she had been wrong this whole time. She slowly reached out and took it as Caiden held it out to her. Fionna was so confused and vulnerable right now. She nodded at Lucas, but didn't say anything. She just stared at the envelope she had been given.
Fionna averted her eyes from the thing when she heard Lucas' voice. Not a liar. Those were the words she dreaded right now. They meant Fionna had been wrong. She had hurt Caiden under false pretenses and she had no idea how to fix that. Of course he wanted her back. They had been in love. They had understood each other and they still knew each other so well. Again the urge to cry came over Fionna, but she didn't want to do it in front of anybody. She said to Lucas, "It's alright. It was a natural way to react." It was said slowly as if her mind was elsewhere. Which it was. It was wondering what the letter contained. "Bye Lucas..." She said as he walked away from her.
The tears came then as Lucas turned his back on her. They were silent but heavy. Fionna took the letter and smoothed it out a bit before beginning to read it. As she read on the tears came faster. She bit her lip as she read it, taking everything in. Why hadn't she seen this letter? Why hadn't this been the one on his desk! She wanted t crawl into a corner and never be bothered again.
She knew this must mean that he had not been lying. There was no way this could have been forged. It was clearly the same writing as the other letter she had read. The one that was still imprinted in her head. She let the letter fall onto the Lucas jacket that she was sitting on. He had forgotten it, AGAIN! She didn't think about that though. All she was thinking about was what to do. She held her head in her hands and shook it trying to think.

She had made up her mind. She stuck her things back in her bag and pulled Lucas' jacket over her shoulders. She would return it to him next she saw him, but she breathed in his familiar scent.
Fionna started walking back towards the castle. She was surprised when she turned to see Caiden sitting against one of the walls. She stood still for a moment before deciding to approach him. She walked up and said, "Caiden. I'm truly sorry for thinking you would cheat on me and lie to me about it. I just wouldn't believe you and you were being truthful the entire time." Fionna paused for a moment trying to figure out how to say this. "I know you hope that this would perhaps fix everything and we could start dating again, but I just don't see that as a possibility."
Fionna had come to a realization. This didn't change everything. She still loved Lucas. It just meant that she was wrong about Caiden and that things could have gone different, but her feelings were still too strong to ignore for Lucas. Caiden was really great, but things just couldn't be the same. So much had happened that her feelings weren't as strong as she remembered. "It is just that I love Lucas. I still love you too, but it has diminished a bit and it just isn't the same. If you understand what I'm trying to say." She told him. Her thoughts weren't very clear coming out, but he figured he probably understood.
She held out the letter and envelope to him and said, "Did you want this back?" She didn't really want it herself. It was a reminder of how wrong she had been. How she had jumped to conclusions and her stubbornness wouldn't allow her to consider any other possibilities, but Caiden might not want it either in which case she would keep it. Maybe she needed a reminder of how she isn't always right and needs to allow some leeway in her opinions.

It had taken Sparrow quite some time to read through the letter, and he gave up on waiting for her and wondering, so he began to think about himself and what Sparrow had done for him. It was a long process, and it took him through the great memories he had created with her, the love he had felt, and the way she changed him. It hurt him to think about it all, but he had no choice. He knew that one way or another, she would find a way to take him on that journey, and it just happened to be tonight. He remembered the first time he saw her, walking into a classroom for his first time being the new student. The memory actually made him laugh, smile just a little bit. He had been so cocky, so absurd about the whole thing that he had made a fool of himself. But it was something he had learned to come over, and he let the experience change who he was. Taking her out on the field and showing off his tricks, trying to impress her, and then letting himself fall so deeply under her spell that he just couldn't pull away after that. He had been so lost when she told him about her brothers dying and her father as well, that he almost had no advice for her. He had just lost someone so close to him that he couldn't possibly have given her advice, but he let her find the answer on her own.
He watched the ground carefully, his eyes laying on a shadow approaching, and he stood up very quickly. Sparrow appeared, looking as if she had made a decision. "Caiden. I'm truly sorry for thinking you would cheat on me and lie to me about it. I just wouldn't believe you and you were being truthful the entire time." Caiden heard what she said, and he took it with a grain of salt, knowing that the conversation could still go anywhere. He took that opportunity to say something to her. "I know what you are feeling, Sparrow. I haven't ever held you accountable for this situation. I've held myself accountable for not telling you." When he finished speaking, she seemed to have formulated her thoughts a little more clearly. This kind of scared him, his heart rate picked up its pace exceptionally to the thought.
"I know you hope that this would perhaps fix everything and we could start dating again, but I just don't see that as a possibility." Those words felt like ice on his heart, and he swallowed his next words very hard, not finding the strength to speak. After all that she put him through, after how he treated her and how much he cared for her, this was the result? He looked away, very distraught about the situation. He was so lost for words that he almost forgot how to speak completely. Looking back up at her, he started to speak again, not exactly sure what he was saying. "But I love you. I still love you. I always will love you. I haven't stopped, don't you see?"
He was freaking out in his mind and all over on the inside. How could he possibly move on from this? He was feeling a loss inside himself. He couldn't let his happen. Caiden turned his body away, not even sure about what he had been feeling. There were so many things he had been feeling: anger, sadness, lost, confused. He was feeling so many things. For a moment, he even felt happy, thinking that it was all over. But that feeling passed so quickly. He turned to look at her just when she began to speak again. "It is just that I love Lucas. I still love you too, but it has diminished a bit and it just isn't the same. If you understand what I'm trying to say." The thing was that he didn't understand what she was trying to say. He couldn't let this happen. "Did you want this back?" Caiden shook his head. He looked at her, watching her so carefully, feeling so many things.
One more split second passed, and he couldn't help himself any longer. Caiden stepped forward, put his hand on the base of her neck, and pulled her too him. She kissed her so deeply, so passionately, and so powerfully, that it felt like he had brought himself back to the day before he lost her to his lost self. He felt alive when he did so, not wanting it to end. But when those few seconds had ended, he stopped, and pulled himself away from her, feeling so guilty for what he had done. Caiden began to walk away, not looking behind him. When he did look, though, he couldn't help but say in a voice so scared "I still love you...And... I won't stop..."★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ [o o c: Oooooooh... ]

She had refused to listen to him and she didn't even respond to the owls he wrote her after she fled from his house. Why had she been so stupid? She had had no faith in Caiden. She hadn't believed in him, and she had ruined everything between them. She wanted to tell him that, but it would just rouse an argument that neither side could win on. Fionna decided to best accept his idea for now, but she knew it was her fault.
Fionna knew this had been coming. She knew Caiden still loved her. She had seen the struggle it was for him to just be friends. To not be able to hug her and hold her hand. She should have foreseen all of this. Caiden had probably thought he had been on his way to mending the relationship, and then he had burst when he saw her with Lucas. "I do Caiden. I just would not be able to love you as equally. My heart yearns for another soul now. I know it's hard for you to hear, but it's the truth." She wanted Caiden to understand. To be able to have both her boys. One as a friend, the other as a boyfriend. Why couldn't she have that? Why?
Fionna had not seen what happened next in any possible outcomes of this encounter. She had not thought that Caiden would kiss her. It had been so long since she felt his lips upon hers. She enjoyed it, but deep down she knew something was off. The spark wasn't as big anymore. Her emotions didn't peak and her heart didn't drum rapidly in her chest. Yes, she knew for sure now that her heart had changed courses. She also realized that she had kissed three different boys in the past week. What was up with her? Granted, Ziggy had been totally unexpected and hadn't even really been a kiss, but still she felt guilty about that.
When Caiden turned to go, Fionna wanted so badly to say something, but all she could do was step back and lean against the wall. His voice made her flinch in guilt. Caiden sounded so scared and lonely. She knew he meant what he said, but she could do nothing to comfort him. She watched him walk away, head swirling, before she turned and ran inside to go to the common room. The tears started before she was even heading up the stairs.

Rose skipped into the open courtyard and smiled. It was so nice and quiet. She just needed some time to herself after the whole "Rhi" thing. It really scared her when she was at court. That girl never changed did she? She was still as mean and nasty as ever. And how did she land that hot piece of man candy Austin. Not that she still wasn't hopelessly in love with her boyfriend. She missed him actually. She hadn't talked to him in AGES. Gee. With all of this Rhi stuff she forgot to talk to Ghaleon. Oh the horror!!! He social life was plumbmiting to an all time low. She sat down in the grass with her legs crossed wondering what became of her popularity.

Not only speak, but think of the devil and she shall appear. Rhiannon, blue-lipped, teeth-chattering and black-eye socket Rhi was walking across the courtyard to the sweet, preppy Rose.
"Rose." Rhi said in a raspy voice, making it a little more raspy just for the fun of it.
"I got you a present on Monday from my hometown."
Rhiannon gave a smile as best she could so she almost looked human. She let her teeth chatter loudly and her lips turn as blue as possible. She coughed a few times, great hacking, wheezing coughs. She really did feel horrible, but right now, she wanted to look as weak as possible. Of course, Rose wouldn't know what Rhi had in her pocket, but she'd soon find out.
Just to add to the drama she said, "It took me a lot of effort to get it."
Hahah Rose had no idea. It took waiting in the woods for hours with a whining baby girl and then strangling and blinding a white horse with a horn. Really, it was worth the taste of that beast's blood. She'd do it again in a hearbeat.

Rose turned her head and looked at her hated enemy. Through gritted teeth she said. "What do you want Rhi?"She asked, her eyes growing in anger. I have a present for you? What was that supposed to mean? Was this some kind of joke? A present from Rhianon, the biggest jerk face on the planet!? There was a catch. There HAD to be a catch. She wouldn't give Rose a present unless it caused her some kind of pain or hurt. She looked skeptical with her one eyebrow raised. "What;s the catch, Unicorn killer?" She asked, saying it out loud since no one was around.

Rhiannon laughed a laugh colder than ice water.
"You know, it's really funny that you should mention that." She said at the name Unicorn Killer. It was just too easy. She took out the unicorn horn from her pocket and pressed it into Rose's hand.
"I killed it on monday. It put up a fight but see that bit of flesh hanging on the end there? See, that's because I didn't have a wand until today, so I couldn't make it all clean. So I just had to yank it out of the beast's head. See, I strangled it with my handcuffs and I blinded it with the earrings. But it put up one heck of a fight. I used a baby girl as bait to lure it out and catch it. You know, it's not as hard as people say. Kinda pathetic to be honest. Delicious though, Rose. Quite a delicacy, unicorn blood."
Rhiannon licked her lips for effect and just stared at Rose with her wicked grin in place. If Rose wanted to punch her, so be it. If she wanted to strangle her, let her try. Slap her? Go ahead. Rhiannon had done the real damage here and she knew it. Killing a unicorn was like an unforgivable curse times a few thousand. It scarred you for life in the sense that it basically made you immortal at the price of a cursed life. Still, so worth it...according to Rhiannon.

Rose raised her eyebrow higher. "And why is that?"She asked when she said "It's funny you said that." Rose looked away and sudden;y her heart was shattered into a million different pieces. She looked at what was in her hand. She would know it anywhere. A unicorn horn....it even had some flesh hanging off of it. She stood there mortified as she tried to find words. She said she killed it monday. So much pent up rage was inside Rose and suddenly it burst like a bubble.
She exploded when rage.You....-t-t-t-terrible monster!! I HOPE YOU DIE A PITIFUL DEATH!!! Your heart is a black hole that doesn't deserve ANYTHING. I-I-I I HOPE YOUR HAPPY!? Happy now? Happy youve hurt something who did NOTHING TO YOU? Happy that you decided to be this wicked beast?! Happy that you have made me and most of the student's lives here a living hell!? Happy that NO ONE WILL EVER LOVE YOU?! ARE YOU HAPPY NOW? NOW B*TH!?!? ARE YOU HAPPY!? She said in a horribly obnoxious way that showed how furious she was.
Rose spun out of control and went all of the rage she had inside put it into her hand. Her hand at light speed collided with Rhianon's face. A b*th slap. A nice hard one. She then rocked in place and began to hypervantalate. She went into crying and denial. "No this isn't happening, I did not just slap her and the unicorn is NOT dead." She said in denial her face covered in tears. "OH WHO AM I KIDDING! It's dead....She rocked in sadness her eyes getting red and puffy. She stood up and gave one more look at Rhiannon and THUD. The stress and confusion caused her to faint/pass out. Why did Rhi always do this to her!?!?

Rhiannon didn't even flinch when Rose yelled or slapped her. All her yelling was stupid nonsense because she was angry. And, honestly, it didn't even hurt. Yes, it was all Rose's strength in that slap. But Rose, a little wimp, didn't do much. Heck, the drama of it all made her pass out. She tended to have that effect on Rose.
Well, it was interesting. She didn't torture Rose while she was asleep, didn't even roll her into the lake like she should've done. She just smiled and beamed as Rose fell. Hmmm...she should take Rose's wand and she kinda wanted to horn back, but she could always get another and considering the strength Rose had when slapping her, she doubted Rose would ever get one on her own. Ha, not to mention that she loved the stupid animals. I mean, Rhi had just gotten out of Azkaban and she'd managed to kill it. Showed how strong and powerful Rose was. Right, not at all. She was such a wimp. And it was great.
“Pathetic creatures.” Rhiannon said, prodding Rose's limp face with her toe. She then turned away on her heel and left.

Gryffindor 5th Year ███████ ▌▌██████████████████ Tierra wandered over to the courtyard when she had finished getting her library book. She strolled around and smiled when she thought of the help she had gotten there. That Caiden guy. He was so nice to her. Quite helpful too. Without him she would have been trapped there for forever looking in the History section. She didn't feel the smartest. Then again she wasn't the best with English. Bonta`! That boy was--so carino. Such a nice smile. She looked at the cover of her book: Getting to know your Potions by Matilda Hithersnide. Hithersnide? What a strange name? There weren't names like that in Italy, that's for sure. Potions was always her best subject, She was a potions expert of some sort. It was her mother's best subject too. She liked to think she was like her in that way.
She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw a girl. She was just lying there in the dirt looking dead? She rushed over there and started to get worried. " 'Allo? Miss!!!!" She said in a very concerned tone as she watched the girl's distressed expression. She stood over her perring down at her. She began to get worried. She looked at the shiny pin on the girl's front. Perfect. Ravenclaw. She was a Ravenclaw perfect. Oh mio dio...Was she hurt...or dead!? "Ragazza sul pavimento!!! Girl on the ground! Wake up!! Oh please wake up!! Wake up!! It is not assonnato time! Not bed time!!" She said as she yelled as loud as she could still the girl would budge. Her face began to look pale and her lips dry. She was scared beyond hell.
She crouched down next to her in the grassy dirt and looked sorry ." Mi dispiace Miss. I am sorry...this might hurt." She looked at her hand and slapped the girl's cheek with it harshly. The girl did not move. She got up and paced a bit. She needed a nurse! That was it she needed a nurse. She lowered her self and again and felt her wrist. She felt a pulse, a heart beat. Thank the lord she was alive. "I am going to get you to a doctor, Miss."She said and with all of her might tried to carry the girl. She was heavier then she thought but she carried her even though her arms burned, taking a small break before heading towards the nurse's office. ██████████████████ ▌▌███████ ( ooc: || If anyone asks Tierra is a VERY strong girl and can support the weight of the girl. She wasn't too afraid of encountering somebody else. Most people were asleep by now and she could talk her way out of trouble most likely. There was no need for that though because it was Lucas. She smiled at him and her necklace changed from a diamond to the pink crystal as her eyes settled on him.
She allowed him to pull her towards the courtyard and she rubbed her eyes again to keep herself awake. "Hey Lucas." She said smiling. She nodded at him understanding that he needed to talk. Sh figured he would need to after everything. Maybe Fionna would get a chance to tell Lucas about her animagus lessons if she remembered to. The full moon was coming up soon and she didn't want it sprung on him last minute. "It's alright. I do make exceptions in rare cases." She said to him.
Fionna walked with him waiting for him to speak. She would wait till he was done and content until she told him about her animagus stuff. "I had something I wanted to tell you, but it can wait until later." She added so that if she forgot perhaps he would remind her. She was extremely tired and she was forgetful whilst tired.

"Okay." He said, nodding. He'd of course let her talk, he just needed to get this off his chest. He couldn't help but give her a weak smile when the pink crystal sparkled in the moonlight. She was so beautiful.
He squeezed her hand gently.
"Rhiannon told me everything. And I don't know what to make of it, really. I don't expect you to know, either. I just felt like I had to tell someone who'd listen. She dragged me out of the depths of the woods to the edge of it, even when bone was visible underneath torn skin. I had no idea what to say to her. I had to beg for her to tell me, and yet...yet..."
The words weren't coming easy.
"She apologized. She said she was sorry she couldn't save any of the others. For not being strong enough to carry my friends." He paused, wanting to assure Fionna in some way that he knew full well that he didn't like her, he just didn't know what to make of this.
"I still hate her for what she did to you, for how her family ruined six years of my life. It was Greyback, by the way." He said stiffly. "It was Greyback who bit me after all. But she did save me and I feel like I owe her. I've heard of magical bonds where, when a wizard or witch saves another wizard or witch's life, they end up doing something in return. There's a connection formed. I don't want that with Rhiannon, she's horrible. This doesn't excuse what she's done but if anything, it's taught me how life, just being alive, is such a chance. She could've just as easily dragged someone else out. I just happened to have a good chance."
He let his hand rest on the back of his neck where the deepest scar was. Then he felt a lump rising in his throat and his face feeling hot. It wasn't tears, it was that he realized how childish he could be. He sounded so cheesy, not to mention so stupid. He'd assumed the worst of her all along and yet she'd saved him. His life had been in her hands and he'd never known...

He was struggling to get out his words and he seemed quite shaken. She just listened to him. Didn't intervene and waited through the pauses as he continued. She was shocked that Rhi had apologized for anything.
Fionna wrapped her arm around Lucas and squeezed him slightly. "You don't owe her anything. She is a different person now. When she drank that unicorn blood she changed drastically." Fionna said not really sure what to say to him. He just needed to talk, but she couldn't just stand there and listen. Could she? "Luck was on your side that night. You got saved. We can't dwell in the past. Only look forward and hope for the best." Fionna said and then got silent not sure if she was helping him any.
