Rain pondered what a weird place this haunted house really was when the two Fu Dogs began to move. It was odd that they were able to speak to them, or perhaps it was just odd that she was able to understand them. They seemed friendly enough. No sign of an impending fight or aggression.

The question they asked really confused her though. It also didn't help that they admitted the next trial would be a difficult one and her decision would decide what happens next, but that's how it's been so far and she did pretty well with just her dumb luck and zombie intuition. Of course, she didn't want to become separated from her group but she knew that she couldn't choose an answer just because they did. She had to answer it honestly for herself.

How did one know? How could one possibly know?

Could fate be prewritten? Could her entire unlife already be mapped out for her, mapped out for everyone she knew? Were they all part of someone or something's greater plan? How could someone or something even possibly factor in all the creatures in Halloweentown? That would fry one's brain, surely. She didn't like the idea of being at someone's whim. To have all her decisions predetermined. She was a loose cannon. She made it her goal to break all the stereotypes of her race. To prove that she was someone special. Could even that be.. the work of someone else?

She was imperfect. Not very bright. She always followed her own heart and made up her own mind, no matter how decayed or damaged her organs may be. She was not your typical zombie. She liked sports, she wasn't slow on her feet. She tried out for fearleading and even became the student council president for one term. Her! A zombie! Surely that was because of her own decisions. Her own work. Everything that happened to her, from detention to school trips, they were all her decisions. Her choices. That's what unlife was. That's what everything was. A series of choices that you make. The most fate could do is throw you a ball but it was up to you whether you go for a homerun, hit a foul ball, make it to first or get struck out. Life was the game and while it could choose the players, it could not choose how the game was played. She felt this was true. She felt this was right.

"Fate is written by me," she finally replied. "I'm a player in its game, but only I determine how I play, how hard I try or work towards victory. We may have boundaries, guidelines, even coaches, but in the end, how we play is how we choose to play. I am responsible for myself. My choices decide my future."

The dragon's tail flicked with a snap, eyes narrowed as he folded his arms across his chest. Just what they needed, more talking statues, he was getting tired of these games. Why couldn't they have a field trip WITHOUT someone trying to kill them, destroy them, turn them into weapons, whatever? Was it really too much to ask? Never again was he going on another field trip, ever, and this time he meant it.

"What is the point of your ramblings?"

There was a bite of irritation in his voice. Jack damned statues, stop speaking nonsense and get to the point.

Fate, hmph, as if there were any such thing. There was no great force in this world, no higher purpose. Life was a series of reactions, shaped by events and actions that had happened before. Science and logic, there was no place for 'fate' in the world.

"There is no such thing as fate, I write my own path."

Circe was caught off guard by the appearance of the two statues that now stood before them. It reminded her of the room they had just come from and it made her feel less then comfortable about what was to come. She knew either path was not necessarily one she really wanted to choose. But after hearing what both Sheridan and Rain said she found herself wondering. Was fate already written or could she change it as she went along? Thinking back the rooms and how they got to where they were it was not fate in which got them there, it was their own choices. Circe looked to her team mates for a brief moment. Her decision making was terrible, but if she chose wrong it could very well be the end of her. "I choose my own fate." Circe said hesitantly. "Or else I would have never made it this far. If fate had chosen for us then we wouldn't have had the choice to come here." Circe said with a smile to her team mates. "Cause we rule." She winked at her group with a large grin.
