Natalia waved a hand in LW's direction, a half smile forming on her pale lips. It was more a gesture of habit and completely unintentional, nerves and fright boiling the blood beneath her skin, making every inch of her swell with goosebumps...and although the ghoul tried to make the grin seem genuine, especially after she realized she had made one--she was certain the werewolf would see through the facade.
...in fact, anyone who looked at the awkward expression would be able to see through it.
"Yeah...!" She turned her attention to Whisper, hoping LW hadn't caught the look and would be equally distracted by the hellhounds reassuring words. For another moment she held her breath, as she had with nearly every other step their group had taken, only to move forward with her own when no one seemed to have taken another beating.
...perhaps she should have considered moving to her left or right, watching as a tile went flying into the air a few spaces from her.
Natalia fanned herself once the tile she chose was firmly beneath her feet, blowing cool air against what skin was exposed at the top of her suit. Man it sure was getting hot in there...

"M'fine, m'fiiiiiiine," Mortimer insisted when the ghouls asked after him. To prove this point, he picked himself off the tile and brushed off the hot water on his bodysuit like it was nothing - even though it was quite the opposite of nothing for him.
"See?" And to further prove his point, the zombie moved onward to the square before him with the bravado of one braver than himself.
Oddly, though, no jet was set off this time! 8DDD; Well looks like they had a small chance to not worry about it after all!
"Halfway!" Mort called out, pushing his glasses back up. It really was starting to get hot . . .

She wasn't fooled in the slightest by Natalia, but definitely didn't want to say anything about it. Really, the she-wolf felt similar and sympathized with her fellow were. LW was just riding on the adrenaline that was pumping through her veins with every tile each of them gained. And Whisper was right! They were doing good. Hopefully it stayed that way.
LW was glad that Mort was alright. She really didn't want to see him or any of the rest of them being launched up into the ceiling.
Which meant she had to take a deep breath to calm her racing heart before mastering up more courage to move another tile forward. Oh Jack please don't let it shoot up! Pleeeease. Ren would kill her. Sliding her foot onto the tile in front of her, LW closed her eyes partially in preparation for what could happen. Or the chance that the tile next to her would erupt, as was turning into something usual now. When nothing immediate happened, LW let out a breath. Good, good. She was doing good.
"Almost there, guys. We can do this!"

Whisper was right. A few bumps and bruises never hurt anyone--at least not that much. They could make it through this--they would make it through this. Mei was not going to give up so easily. No..she wanted to go all the way on this trip. She made a promise to Bul after all: to get through this thing alive.

The closer they got to the other side, the hotter the room was beginning to feel; or at least this was what the monster was gathering. Whether it was literally because of a temperature change or simply due to the nervousness and frustration she felt--All Natalia knew for sure was that it was hot. Damn hot. And the suit she had giggled and chirped over excitedly was starting to feel more and more like an incubator for her body. Just another regret to add to the stack.
She took that next step forward, trying to exude a confidence that really was not there...

Tail swishing behind her, the she-wolf didn't hesitate (much) in moving to the next tile in front of her. It helped having your team remain upbeat about everything. Even if a couple of them had been hurt already. Jackdamnit! Hopefully (that was already asking too much right there) things would continue to go smoothly? A werewolf could dream, right?
Feeling a mixture of adrenaline, fear, and anxiety, LW stood on her newly gained tile-ground. She quickly glanced around her to see if any tiles were erupting near her or if her own tile was about to go. But so far so good...

Maybe . . . Maybe it wasn't going to be so bad. Sure, he and Mei had taken a quick trip to the ceiling, but a little smush didn't bother them right? Ironic, being that they were the ones least bothered by the fact of possibly dying of the group.
But besides the ghouls' own morale-boosting words, when Mort shambled to the next tile, yet again nothing was set off. Perhaps it really was keep spirits high that let them beat this puzzle! Thus, the zombie begin to ponder over other things that might continue this surge of optimism, lest the room have yet another puzzle for them . . .
Hmmmm. Would . . . singing also work? He pondered some more.

Glancing to her teammates, Mei waited until most have them moved on before taking another step herself. She was the farthest behind, and she needed to catch up. She wanted to get out of this damn room, and onto the next! Their progress was slow, but so far, they only had two incidents. She only hoped it would stay that way..Mei knew that they would need every bit of strength for things that lay ahead.

Natalia's eyes followed LW's next step, watching the ghoul near the end of the grid steadily...it was only a matter of time before some serpent came barreling through the walls eager for a fight! "Keep it up..." the ghoul thrummed over the thought, in between what gaps of time no tiles were bothered. Another step was taken, another hurdle crossed...they were all inching forward; slowly but surely.
And when nothing happened, the monster's brows lifted excitedly. Turning about with her tail gripped firmly in hand, Natalia waved to the others...settling her orange eyes on Whisper's tiny frame. "Careful now! You are almost here!" They were almost out of that blasted room!

The others were moving so fast, but Whisper was trying to be careful. Yes, the tiles were random, but that didn't mean she should throw caution to the wind. She looked around to see if anything else had happened in the room, nothing had really changed, which was both a good...and bad thing. She really couldn't put off moving any longer. Whisper stepped forward once more. "Almost there...almost there..."

Another step, another lack of steam-jetted tiles. Was he doing something right or just lucky? Either way, Mort let out a cheer as he reached the lip of the other side of the room, now level with LW. Maybe this trip wasn't so bad! He really should stop overreacting so quickly.
Once on the next step, he turned and waved to Mei and Whisper, the two who still had a bit more to go than the rest. "Will wait!" he proclaimed.

As soon as Natalia, Mort and Whisper moved on safely, Mei followed after. They were so close now--the whole team was almost across! They could do this! "Just a few more steps guys, and we're home free!" She cheered them on, glancing back as a tile further back exploded into the air. Well, at least it was to far back for her team to get hit.

So close, so freakin close. Just a couple more tiles, and for the most part they were all in one piece. This room was far more psychological then it originally seemed. Paranoia was way worse then physical damage, as it wares out the mind. Whisper rubbed her face and took a tep forward, perhaps a little cocky that none of her tiles had gone off. She kept whispering to herself "All in the mind...yup, all in the mind."

This was it---the last step. The last tile before they were done with this damn room and free of anymore flights to the ceiling. Carefully, she took a step forward, and regretted it the moment she did. Watching in horror, she watched as Natalia was sent flying into the ceiling. "Ah! Natalia! I'm so sorry!"
