Silas snorted in surprise. "Your mother was alright with that," he asked, tone slightly colored in disbelief. It wasn't just that he'd grown up with a very protective mother, but that he really couldn't picture any mother letting her children jump off cliffs to go gliding on devices that might potentially fail, with nothing to stop them from plunging to death or at least serious injury.
Maybe his imagination was just taking things too far. There were other ways to glide without jumping off cliffs, after all!

Cad chuckled. It was obvious his new friend had thought too much into this. "She worried.. But realized there was less troublesome things than a foal rolling rolly polly style down a hill side than had I been risking worse things and jumping off cliffs. I took care not to do anything too dangerous till I was certain the contraption could hold the weight and work. By then my mother had gotten use to the idea that I was going to do things like this. I think she accepted the fact that I was brilliant when I was younger.. Not that she's an imbecile mind you.. It's just not every day that your foal starts etching out mathematical equations in the dust and building things I suppose."

Silas laughed. "My mother is the overprotective type. Not overbearing or anything, but she always got a bit nervous if we weren't nearby. I guess it seems strange to picture a mom who'd be cool with stuff that's a bit out there."
