Anddd now she was standing next to him, after having moved away from him.

Ghouls were very strange creatures.

Sparrow's eyes flitted downwards, eying Wren's shadow. "Stop that," he told it, very clearly, his face flushing as bright as the peryton's. "That's not very polite, you know."

He had the distinct feeling that the ghoul did not have any control over her little "friend," especially when she glared at it stubbornly. It still did nothing, instead waving its hand in a dismissive gesture as it pranced in circles around her, connected below her feet.

"You like steak?" Sparrow said, pulling out a few packages from the fridge and setting them on the counter. "Good; it's my favorite too."

He smiled at her, and within a few minutes had the meat sizzling in a pan on the stove, the scent of cooking meat rising in the air. Sparrow was attempting to not turn around and see what Wren was doing (his face was still a little red), but after a moment she asked him a question, and he looked over his shoulder at her, the peryton sitting on the counter top.

"No, that's not necessary," he said. "It'll be ready soon."

It only took a bit longer, and soon he was pulling the meat off the fire and holding it aloft, glancing around for plates...which...were...not there.

Oops.

"Er," said Sparrow, feeling really rather stupid, as he was standing there with two forks and a pan and nothing else. "I had thought we would forget the rice, since you didn't seem to want it, and just have the meat, but there's...no...plates..."

Then he trailed off awkwardly, shuffling from foot to foot.

Still perched on the counter, Wren swung her legs back and forth while he was cooking.

Once the call for it being finished was up, the ghoul made a move to approach where the stove was... and placed her chin on the reapers shoulder so she could peer over him down at the food.

"Plates? Oh!" They had no plates... hmm.Taking her chin off his shoulder, she rummages around the kitchen some... looking for something. Finally pulling it out, she set the thing down on the counter next to the stove. What was it?

A giant cutting board.

"We share?" It was make shift and last second but... it was clean and one of the glass types. So it would not have grooves where bacteria might hide inside. It was just large enough that if they sat side by side, or close anyways, they could eat it. "If you don't mind sharing..?" Some did not like sharing so.. it was a test of patience. Not really waiting for an answer, she grabbed at the cutlery and brought back two forks and knives.

"Almost rea..." Sparrow started to say, but something had landed on his shoulder - something warm and gentle. Wren's cheek felt soft where it brushed against his own, standing so close to him that for a moment he felt completely immobilized.

Now he was completely and utterly confused.

And very nearly dropped the pan of meat.

Thankfully, however, Wren stepped away after a moment, and Sparrow breathed a sigh of relief that she would not hear, his face flushed a dull red. How was it that a ghoul like Wren could possibly make him this flustered so fast? It was probably the fact that she was completely unaware that she was even doing it; her big, doleful eyes, the skittishness, the uncertainty - she was quite unlike anyone he had ever met before.

And it was making him feel very ill at ease with his own self.

"Oh," Sparrow said, looking down at the cutting board. It was sort of like a plate...sort of. "That works."

He smiled at her, then proceeded to carefully shift the meat to the cutting board, setting the dirty pan in the sink. Moving to sit at one of the bar stools at the counter, he set the cutting board down, along with two glasses of water, picked up a fork, and handed it to Wren while he took one of his own. Then he held up his glass.

"To new friends," he said softly, and clinked his glass with hers.
