There is a way to adjust your keyboard settings, I'm not sure how, you can google it. But its called international English keyboard setting. All you have to do, is push ',^,~,", or , on different letters that you want to add the accent to.. with the esset for german you have to press ctrl + alt +s and you get the esset "ß"

I've only been able to get that to work in Microsoft Word.

Start > Control Panel > Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options > Regional and Language Options > Languages > Details

Then you just pick which language you want and choose International Keyboard.

I can't figure out for the life of my how to do characters for Japanese and whatnot. I've googled so much crap and I've downloaded stuff and it doesn't do anything. *shakes fist*

Wow, I think I'm kinda late on this post. Nobody has said anything in forever.

I dunno, but it wouldn't have been the first time. xp

Anyway, I've taken time outta my "busy" schedule to reorder the characters in my original post in alphabetical (as alphabetical as possible, anyway) order, and added a couple characters that were conspicuously missing.

And I implore someone (whoever knows how it all works themselves) to post new instructions for Mac users; the original post by Kaji is corrupted.

There's a MUCH easier way to do this... the only things I have problems with are letters with a flat line (macron) over them. Other than that I can type:
ÄäËëÏïÖöÜü
ÁáÉéÍíÓóÚú
ÀàÈèÌìÒòÙù
ÂâÊâÎîÔôÛû
ßÞþÐðÇç
ØøÆæÃãÕõ
¡¿¡¿¡¿
all with ease.

Go HERE for more details.

Sorry Mac users... can't help you. But I'm sure there's an easy way for you too.

Japanese is a bit more complicated.... I'll edit this post with more info later.

バイバイ~~~~!!!

::edit:: omw to school but I'll get the info started:

Make sure your control panel is in classic view. Category sucks.
Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages > Details > Add
Then pick Japanese from the top menu and hit OK.

I'll teach you how to type Japanese with that keyboard when I get home today.

Ok... I forgot I was donating blood today and now I'm really tired so I'll edit my Japanese typing post after my very long nap.
