Wow....Astra knew that she was close to Malodore and Jericho, but to consider them family? Riley must have cared for them a lot... More then her own father it seemed. It was a odd concept to the fairy, to have friends that were closer then ones own flesh and blood.
She considered Riley to be a close friend, a very close friend at that. But at the same time she felt a vast distance between herself and the other ghoul. She was powerful, wise, and able to influence everyone she met in some way. so much that it was rare to meet anyone that hadn't heard of her. Astra was sure even the teachers respected her. Hell, she rode a dragon for jacks sake!
And comparing that to herself...well, there was just no comparison. It was different sides of the spectrum as far as she was concerned.
Pushing those thoughts aside, she focused back on the current conversation.
"My dad...well, he's always been nice to me, and I know he wants me to be the best I can be. I don't see much of him though, because he's always working really hard on his spells. Sometimes he can spend weeks creating a single potion, and even then they don't always turn out the way he wants them to. But he'll keep trying to perfect them."
"My mum though is always trying to spoil me ." She said with a smile. "I have to ring her up often to tell her how I'm going, otherwise she'll get worried when she doesn't hear from me."

There was a flash of.. something in Riley's gaze when Astra started talking about her mother. It was smothered quickly, and she simply nodded her head. But Riley had gone quiet, and it was a little obvious that Astra had touched a nerve.
You're.. you're very lucky to have parents who care about you like that. It sounds.. nice.

Damn...She just couldn't win today, could she? Astra could have smacked herself when she had realized that talking about how nice her parents were, would upset Riley even further.
"Y-yes I'm really thankfully that I have such nice parents, b-but It's not just them who have been nice to me!" Astra said as she tried not to panic. "I mean, theres lots of others who can be really close like you said. I know Mal is really nice too! Cause Mal's really smart and it does all the doctor stuff, and it's really polite too."
"And t-theres also.." She tried to think of someone else that had been nice to her whom she thought was close to Riley. "...Petro!"
...Wait, did he even count?
"...Yeah, he's always trying to be brave, and he'll help you out if you're in trouble!"
Okay, she was totally had no idea at this point. Except one; running before she dug herself a even deeper hole.

Astra was obviously trying very hard to make Riley feel better, and it was endearing. Fortunately, she had finally hit on the one topic that could always make Riley smile.
No, it was not Petro.
Riley sat back slightly, her hand raising to touch the end of her ear as a fond and distant look touched her eyes.
Mal is really nice. Riley murmured in a thickly wistful tone. And smart. So smart.. and sweet.. and.. ah..
Riley sobered up, tinging slightly in embarrassment. Yes. I am very lucky to have it in my life.

Astra sighed with relief when Riley began to cheer up again, and watched curiously while her friend was happily thinking of the plague doctor and it's many talents, nodding in agreement with each one.
"Yes, you're really lucky too Riley, so don't forget it!" She tried to fix her with a stern glare to emphasize her point, but it was really hard to do so when you were glaring at...well, Riley of all people. Still, Astra wanted to make sure that Riley had plenty of good things to be happy about, even if her parents weren't all that nice to her.

You're right. Riley's gaze returned its full focus on Astra. I do not easily forget how lucky I am to have the support and understanding of those around me. And.. and how lucky I am to have Malodore's love. She'd faded off at the end there, and her skin was darkening just slightly. Carefully, she considered what she was about to ask, but decided that it was worth the risk.
Astra, if you don't mind me asking.. have you ever known love? I suppose you could say, this is a first for me. We are not raised to know or desire love. But your parents sound like they do love you. Do you.. understand love?

Did she know love?
That was...a difficult question to answer. It sounded simple, and Astra looked like she was about to answer, but she stopped herself and sat back, considering Riley's words more carefully.
In all honesty, she could say she 'knew' love...or at least part of it. Her parents loved her, she was sure of that much. But could she understand it? Was it something that she could sit there and explain to Riley?
"Well...I've known...one type of love?" Astra answered at last, the own answer sounding more like a question. "I think...that there's different kinds of love. Like my parents love, or Malodore's love...or even a friends love. But It's...it's hard to put into words...it's more like a feeling, I guess." She hoped that was close to a suitable explanation for the mindflayer.

It is hard to put into words. I understand your hesitation. Really, I am simply wondering if you have felt true love, in which case the answer is yes, because you are telling me you have felt it. The kind of love is irrelevant to me at this time. Though..
She chuckled nervously.
I guess I would also be interested to know if you've ever felt, ah, the love one exhibits in a relationship. But that was not my initial question. Now I am merely curious.

Now it was Astra's turn to look flustered, the question she was being asked making her feel a little uncomfortable. "Ahhh, n-no, I haven't felt that..." She replied, trying not to blush. "I...don't have a...er, I mean I'm not in a relationship."
Not that she felt bad for not having one, but the subject was still a little embarrassing. Especially when you were adding things like 'love' into the matter.

Probably for the better. Riley murmured quietly. It's terribly confusing. But still worth it, when the time comes. Her face lifted in lieu of a smile, and then she sobered up once more. Ah, but enough about me. Was there anything else you needed from me? She took one last look at Astra's wings.. and wished she could just give hers to the ghoul in her stead.

Astra wasn't exactly sure why a relationship would be confusing, but she would take Riley's word for it. At least she appeared to be very happy to be in one, judging by how she looked when thinking about mal.
But for now, she had more important things to consider then boilfriends and ghoulfriends. She didn't miss Rileys glance at her wings either, but she choose to ignore it.
"Nope, I think I'm alright now...thankyou Riley..." She said, smiling warmly at the mindflayer. "I was really scared before, but I feel so much better now, thanks to you." She then hoped off the couch, making her way towards the door. She was glad that she had confided in her the problems and challenges she was about to face, and now that she had, Astra felt like she had a chance of getting through them.
