Eric sighed.
"Well cept no one knows anything about whats going on. Really this is just conjecture, I dont think anyone can really give us any answers."
He looked around.
"Theres not much we can do though about that, we've got to try to figure out whats going on. Even the folk that understand this situation dont understand this situation. We need to work on figuring this out."

"'We'?" Jett asked, giving him a look. Leo was closer and he was feeling very relieved that they were almost inside again, away from the open space of the Surrounding. "Who says 'we' have to do anything? The way I see it, 'we' don't have to do it. 'We' didn't ask to be here. So let the senshi figure out how to get us home. They say they don't know how it happened--but why did we end up at their base if they didn't have something to do with it?" he reasoned.
"They're related to this, somehow. And, you know what? I really don't care how. Just as long as I make it home."
...And what? And went back to living his normal, mundane life? With no more rainbow roads, no more gorgeous views of space?
...No more space whales, or giant bats, or mutant salamanders?
Sure, this might have been an adrenaline rush, but it had at least been different. Dangerous, sure. Too dangerous, probably. It was like a page out of a fantasy book, the kind of adventure every kid dreams of having.
Except, Jett was neither a kid, nor a dreamer. He did not dream of being the hero, didn't dream of saving the princess and bringing peace and unity of the world. But then--what did he dream about? Strange Mirror Pools?
Ugh. What a headache. Yeah. He was ready to go home.

"And theyve been so helpful thus far. If theyre related to this, they may not have our best interests at heart. As much as I want to trust them, to this point theyve just kept us alive. We need to start, ya know, planning."
He hated thinking like this, like these seemingly pleasent people were actually behind this whole thing, but he also hated being here and he hated being snacked on. This Jett guy seemed like a good bet though, Eric didn't even seem to notice his tone.
"Theres got to be something we can do beside just wait for these people to figure things out for us."

"Yeah," Jett said slowly, drawing out the word for a few seconds; their was obvious disbelief in the term. "...Sure. And what, exactly, do you propose for us to do, exactly? Because, I've left my spaceship back on Earth. And if you've got a spare hiding in your pocket, I'm disappointed that you've been holding out on me, Eric," he said, voice tart.

That got a chuckle out of Eric, who promptly turned out his pockets.
"Ah, no dice."
He smiled.
"Im not suggesting anything in particular, Im just saying we need to keep an eye on ourselves. Were in the presence of aliens and magic sushi worshippers, we need to think pro activly about how were going to survive this situation."
He motioned around him.
"For example, what do we know about space? And about this place, if it is actually space?"

"Does it matter? Whatever you know is pointless. What makes sense back home doesn't make sense here. Back home, whales live in the ocean. Bats are as big as your fist. Salamanders don't try to eat people. All right? I also know that bumps and bruises and breaks don't heal as fast back home as they do here. What do you propose we do, run around until we find answers just, you know, lying on the ground? We can't read the books in the library, the senshi don't know what's going on, and it doesn't look like there's some secret passage to teleport us back home, so what, exactly, is it that you want us to do?"

"You can start by stopping and breathing. We're here, we're safe. So long as thats still true we can take our time working the rest out. But the more we know, the more we can piece together, the better off we'll be in the longrun. I'm not saying a little brain storming and a can-do attitude is going to get us out of here, but it certainly can't hurt our chances."
He pulled a penny out of his pocket and flipped it.
"Pennies still flip, so the world can't be completely messed up yet. We just got to figure out what this place is, and where the 'out' door is."

Jett was not a religious person, but, oh, thank God Leo was right there. The aroma--be it in his head or not--was tantalizing. "...Yeah, I guess so. If you're going to base that status of the world on a penny flipping. So, here we are, at Leo," he said, though they were still a few yards away from walking in. "Maybe there will be more scouts here that can answer your questions? --I don't really have time to socialize, I'm going to starve. So."
He paused when they stepped in and held out his hand. "Good to meet you, Eric. I'll catch you later," he said; he looked towards the kitchens longingly and figured that Eric would rather chat and get some answers while Jett stuffed his face, so it seemed that this was going to be goodbye--for now.

He nodded.
"I'm going to poke around here before grabbing food, see what I can find out. I'll meet up with you if I hear anything."
He took the hand and shook it heartily.

Jett shook the hand without as much enthusiasm but looked towards the kitchens. He flashed a bored smile, and while he'd --somewhat--enjoyed company with Eric, his stomach was taking his full attention. And, his stomach was starving.
A bit light headed, Jett dropped his hand from Eric's. "All right. Good luck, hope to hear from you soon."
Because, if he heard from him, that meant that Eric had learned something--and whatever Eric knew about this place, Jett wanted to know. He offered a courteous nod of his head and then turned, shoving his hands into his pocket and walking towards the kitchens.
