ImitiqwertOliverqwertyChuck

As an Alakazam, Imiti had complete control over his mind. He could choose not to care about the rain, and that he did. He'd begun considering his strategy before Finian introduced himself. Let's see...Dark type meant that he was proof against nearly any direct attack on Imiti's part. That meant no telekinesis or manifestations of psychic energy, as well as nothing that would confuse or weaken his opponent.

"Thank you." Finian had given him the first move just as he'd decided on what to do. With that in mind, a liberal application of psychic energy sent the staff he'd been holding end over end at the Absol to initiate a series of attacks on its own. His ability to control it was by no means precise; the attacks were quite easy to block or dodge individually but they came at a rapid pace.

--

Oliver was by no means prepared by the Skarmory's sudden assault, but a year of jumping onto the backs of legendaries and wannabe gods gave you good reflexes. He sprang back, flinging one of the rods at Katara to get a free hand and following it with a stream of bubbles that would explode with concussive force. The remaining rod he stowed away so that he would have both hands free.

"I'll take that as a yes, then."

--

Chuck nodded when Luke introduced himself. "That I do. Your name is Luke, isn't it?" It'd probably be a really bad idea to engage a Lucario in melee combat. His fire attacks could all be used to a fair degree of effectiveness at range. "I hope you don't mind if I take the first move..." A small fireball sped toward Luke as Chuck backed the other way.

User Image~Kyle

Kyle would have let out a sigh of relief for the sake of the pitiable Ponyta if it wasn't for the fact that a close range Fire Spin was just conjured directly into his own face. Letting out a yelp and attempting to jump away from the attack, the Flareon only found himself defenseless the swirling torrent of peculiarly colored flames which followed him as he tried desperately to escape. Thankfully his fur naturally had an immunity to circumstances such as this else wise he would be charred in rather unappealing ways by now. Nevertheless discomforting to be trapped in such a vortex the only other option than to wait it out was to take action with fire of his own that could hopefully overpower and extinguish what was plaguing him. Conjuring all the energy he could muster into one outward burst it was only moments before an Overheat attack rolled off of his own fur. The figure of the Flareon soon being completely obscured by bright yellow, orange, and white flames that shot out from his body in all directions quickly overpowering the Fire Spin and having potential even to make contact with Skittles if he/she were still in the immediate area. Of course this secondary effect was not intentional but it couldn't be helped in the end. Kyle collapsed to the ground as his flames dissipated, huffing up oxygen as if there was nothing else to his existence. Such a performance took a toll on his body which was surely not used to stress like that.
User Image~Finian
Finian's gaze tightened into a more serious disposition as he reached his end of the battlefield only to find a psychically enhanced staff twirling his way. They weren't just playing around here, were they? One would normally waste time dodging and blocking as much of the oncoming onslaught as possible, but this Absol saw no use in such tedious actions. Flinching only the first time the wooden staff made contact with his wet fur the Dark type gladly took the brunt of the beating sent his way, preferring to use his energy rather in a counterattack. Oh how he wished the object striking him was metallic, then at least he could have an easier time breaking the hold on it the Psychic type had. However, perhaps, the set of spoons obligatorily held by the opposing Pokemon were a better target for what he had in mind. Already having a feeling that he would be a tad sore tomorrow by the sheer amount of strikes against his soaked body it was about time for his counterattack to commence and hopefully break the barrage set upon him. Accompanying the continuing torrent began a series of Thunder attacks. Bolts of sheer energy lacing their way down from the sky and just as quickly being absorbed into the muddy ground. Though not focused, the sheer amount of electric bolts enhanced by the storm and hopefully naturally attracted to the lightning rod spoons were likely to hit their target as long as the Absol found himself able to keep up the attack. His own stamina having a chance of becoming a problem as he felt a good crack to the back of his head by means of the damn wooden staff that was still going at him relentlessly. Hell, at this rate the weak looking weapon 'ought to snap at some point if this keeps up.

Faran

Faran grinned at the excitement in the other Pikachu's voice. It was really strange, if he wasn't so certain otherwise he could have sworn he'd heard it before. Oh well, he wasn't here to think about voices that sounded familiar, he was here to fight and win! He gave the Pikachu an odd look as it fidgeted about, wondering what was wrong. Was it just a nervous tick maybe? Some Pokemon had those he knew, Erinn especially had a ton of them. Shrugging the thought off, the Vulpix patiently awaited his new friend and opponent's answer.

When the answer did come, Faran's eyes widened with shock and he tried to scamper away from the shock. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't nearly fast enough to avoid electricity, and he yelped, more out of surprise than pain, as the spark gave him a gentle zap. "Whoa!" he said, half appreciatively and half indignantly, "Oh, oh right, my turn now! I'll get you for that!" It was a playful threat, but the Ominous Wind that the Vulpix summoned and sent toward the Pikachu was very serious. It wasn't extremely powerful, but the force of the wind was enough that it might cause a lighter Pokemon to have difficulty keeping their footing.

Tris

As confused and indignant as his Eevee partner appeared, so was Tris. They'd put him up against someone so young? He'd have to be careful not to hurt her. Her Dragonite comment caused him to look at her skeptically, but the Ditto played true to his part, putting on a smile after a moment and approaching her. "Nope, I'm not a Dragonite," he said with a chuckle, "A Dragonite would snap you and me up in an instant and still be hungry. Wynaut!" The name of the Pokemon he personified currently was accompanied by a sharp salute and a wide grin. This was indeed entertaining. "No need to sound so disappointed though, I may not be a Dragonite but I'll give you a fight you'll remember. Wynaut!" The Ditto extended a hand to the Eevee, "Name's Tris by the way, you must be Harumi if I'm not mistaken. That's what the numbers said anyway, Wynaut!" Tris smiled to himself, before winking at his opponent in a friendly manner, "Mind if I call you Haru?" He would have fun with this yet, even if he had to make it so.

Era & Phione & Eon

"Look! Faran's started fighting!" Eon said, pointing down where the Vulpix and the Pikachu were. The male Pikachu looked over the fight with a slight puzzled frown, "His partner looks...strange though." Eon wasn't one to judge others, especially not of his own kind, but a Pikachu knew what was a Pikachu and what wasn't. Even though the pair were quite far down from where they sat something seemed slightly off about the other Electric Type that was fighting their Vulpix teammate, although he couldn't quite tell what it was.

Era looked down also at Eon's comment, feeling proud of Faran as he got jumped back quickly after being hit. That was good, never let them keep you down and you had a better chance. She was cheering for him, although she didn't shout anything out like the others. Not yet anyway. She glanced at the strange Pikachu upon Eon's comment and then did a double take as she realized he was right. "That's so strange..." she murmured quietly, also baffled as to what was so strange about it. "Maybe if we got a closer look...?"

Unbeknownst to either of them, Phione had meandered off over to a nearby duo who looked to be having a good time. Well, the Misdreavus did anyway, the Snivy looked to be unhappy even though he was wearing a fun outfit. The little Water Type was drawn over by the sight of the odd puffy thing that was in the Snivy's lap. It looked so bright and colorful and fun to touch, and that was exactly what he wanted to do. Era and Eon were a ways away from the other two, but Phione could still see them, so he knew it was alright. Coming up behind the oddly colored Snivy, Phione poked the angry-looking Pokemon on his tail, avoiding the sharp part of it. "Hi hi!" he greeted him, eyes bright with a happy smile, "You unhappy...Why you unhappy?"

Maestro

Maestro at last gave up trying to be around the groups nearby him; he couldn't stand the noise of this place. The Zorua's ears were very sensitive to sound, something that he took deep pride in because it was why he was so gifted in music. The uppity Dark Type scoffed in disdain and began to walk down the bleachers, intending to leave when he paused suddenly, eyes snapping onto the pocket where Tris was. Arceus, what is that fool doing? the Zorua thought, scornfully, but he paused nonetheless, looking down upon the Ditto and the Eevee who he was offering a handshake. Shaking his head Maestro stayed where he was nonetheless. Attack you idiot! Attack!

???

A figure was standing, cloaked in the shadows, on the edge of the arena. He silently watched the goings-on, unnoticed by any of the onlookers. What he wanted was uncertain, but he didn't appear to be going to move any time soon. A smile played about his lips as he stood there, glancing from Pokemon to Pokemon, but he wasn't about to approach any of them. No, he was waiting for a certain time before he would make himself known to any of them, but specifically the ones here who he cared most about. Truthfully he was only doing this for their sake, though they wouldn't know that until the moment he chose. That, and he wanted a chance to test himself again. It had been far too long. Although the hidden figure hadn't approached the registration point, upon looking down at his list of entries the official would find a note lying on it with a request to be added to said list. It bore the cryptic signature 'R' and nothing else to identify who had written it, let alone how it had gotten there since it hadn't been there the last time anyone had looked, but it was there now.

((So, the last bit can be toned down if I'm pushing things a bit, but I kind of wanted to have a bit of fun. Guess who's back? ^ ^ P.S. I added him in because Stark doesn't have a partner. If you had something in mind I can take this out, it's no problem.))

Isis

Isis nodded at the Archen's offer and grinned a little, "Don't mind if I do." She stated as she watched the bird like Pokemon shield itself with it's wings.

She had to make this work, those feathers didn't look like they could hold much but appearances were always deceiving. However Isis had no idea what Jonah's type was...she was sure he was part flying, but that could be a mistake...it could be like Sudowoodo.
So what could she do? A test attack couldn't hurt right? She'd just have to gauge the Archen's reactions.

Nodding to herself she gathered energy as she felt her body temperature cool down rapidly, her right fist then started to glow a frosty blue as she ran forward to try and break through the feathery shield with an Ice Punch.

Iris "Skittles"

Iris watched the pretty colored Flareon run around from his/her accidental Fire Spin. The Ponyta hoped that the pretty Flareon could do something, he/she didn't want to hurt the pretty thing.
As the Flareon started to glow with an odd looking fire like energy, he/she tilted his/her head at what the Flareon was going to do.

Iris then watched as his/her Fire Spin was quickly overpowered and mixed with the Overheat which then combined and spread out hitting Iris directly and kicking up a cloud of dust and smoke.

Iris coughed a bit from his/her position on the ground he/she was now laying on. The flames didn't burn as much being he/she was a fire type, but it still hurt quite a bit. The Ponyta watched as the pretty colored Flareon collapsed on the ground and looked at the gasping Pokemon in concern, "Are...Are you alright?" Fighting didn't seem to fun anymore...

He/she hoped the Flareon was ok...

.::Stark::.

Stark waited until the official looked down at his entry request, then sighed dramatically.

"As it just so happens, we are able to field an opponent for you, Mr... Dravin." Stark perked up at this, as the official looked over the entry forms on his desk. He wore a puzzled expression as he picked up an odd note. He gazed at it for a moment or two, then scribbled something on the form in front of him. "An anonymous entry has just been entered. I am entering him as your opponent for this round- your field is D-4. All the way at the end, you can't miss it." He made a few more scribbles, then closed his folder, looking squarely at Stark.

"Good luck to you, Mr. Dravin." Stark nodded his thanks, then proceeded toward the area designated for him. He stepped onto the field, looking about for his opponent, yet finding no one there. He took a few more quick looks, puzzled, then finally sat down, and waited for his opponent to arrive. Better be someone good- I need a good exercise after today...

?????

The watching figure's eyes fell upon the registration desk, watching with a feeling of pleasure as he saw the look of bewilderment upon the official's face. The unknown Pokemon's eyes followed the Absol's path as he walked off down toward the field at the end, only needing to see that to know that his request had been accepted. Of course, he had a bit of an advantage over the Dark Type, having seen his opponent first, but the anonymous Pokemon didn't intend to use said advantage. A fight was only good if it was done fairly, that was something he strongly believed. It would be fine though, he was certain. A smile spread across his face again at the thought of it. Yes indeed, the Absol would certainly know who he was before the match began, he would make certain of that.

As Stark waited a sudden burst of light would flash in front of him, and when it cleared a figure was standing there who hadn't been there before. Despite being rather smaller than the Absol, he seemed quite undaunted; his cape billowing in the slight breeze, sequins shining in the sun, and a top hat pulled down low over his eyes. The Eevee removed his hat with a paw, tipping it with a bow to his opponent. "I do believe we are opponents, yes?" he said, putting the hat back on his head with a flourish. He wore an amused smile as though he was aware of something that Stark was not, but one never could tell with this particular Eevee, he always was one step ahead of everyone else. "My name's Riley," he said, "And you are?"

.::Stark::.

Stark was beginning to wonder just whether or not this whole, "anonymous opponent" thing was a sham, when he was suddenly blinded by a flash of light. He growled and squinted against the flash, then shook his head to clear his vision. Obviously his opponent wanted to make an entrance. He squinted into the dimming light to see...

An Eevee. Just... an Eevee. It wore a sequined cape, and a top hat, no less, but still, it was just a plain, average, ordinary... Eevee. Stark cocked his head as the Pokemon- Riley, as he stated- introduced himself. Riley. An Eevee. Was his opponent.

...An Eevee.

Is this a joke? It's a joke, right? Tell me he's joking. Tell me this is some cruel trick and that my real opponent is on their way instead of this... kid. He waited for some sort of confirmation of this thought- a laugh, an admission- but got only that confident, knowing smile. And what exactly is he so smiley about? Finally, Stark let out a defeated sigh, and stepped forward.

"It appears you're right- we are opponents, as it turns out." Stark took a ready stance, regardless of his disappointment- he had expected something more... exciting, for his first match. Ah, well. All I gotta do is beat him and move on to someone more impressive. He looked Riley square in the eye, and let a small smile cross his features.

"My name is Stark Dravin. And I'm ready whenever you are, sparky."

Riley

The Eevee's smile broadened slightly at Stark's look. He was disappointed, that was fairly evident from the skeptic look he'd gotten at first. He could almost see the thoughts in his mind now; probably something along the lines of 'there must be some mistake' and 'it's only an Eevee?!' Riley shook his head slightly, grin never fading, the Absol would have a different opinion of him when this was over if he had any say in it. After all, a magician never should disappoint his audience; that was the ultimate failure. Still, at least he took a battle stance, Riley was grateful for not being written off entirely. At the very least he was being seen as someone to be fought. "Nice to meet you," he said with yet another grin, thoroughly pleased to finally be out doing things again after being in recovery so long. He planned to come back with a bang, and Stark would be the one who'd get to see it best. "Just be careful not to underestimate your opponent, alright?" He smiled slightly and spoke once more. "Now you see me..."

A moment after Riley had spoken, he was gone. Aided by Quick Attack, he moved faster than the eye could see, ending up on the opposite side of Stark and hopefully disorienting the Absol a bit. He didn't need much, just a little opportune moment to strike. In an instant he did just that, letting a Swift Attack fly in the direction of the Absol. "...Now you don't."

Katara

Katara batted the wooden rod away with a wing though it disturbed her flight. The Skarmory landed on the ground, her claws digging deep gouges in the ground as she reversed her momentum in order to get back towards the Poliwrath.

She almost didn't even see the bubbles before she began to react on reflex, her beaks opening wide to release a counterstream of energy taking the form of stars. The Swift attack collided with the Bubblebeam, detonating them halfway between the two contestants as Katara got back into the air and once again dove back at Oliver.

This time she would not pull away; that Poliwrath was responsible for keeping himself alive damn it, fighting like this was no fun.

Rozul

"Score!" The Pikachu declared happily as the first attack hit. He waited eagerly for the Vulpix's counterattack, widening his stance into a ready position to brace against the ghostly wind that suddenly rushed up around their area of the training field.

"Roj! It's going to blow it off!" "Just step on it!"

The Pikachu stood its ground, swaying a bit as it was buffeted by the wind but seemingly unable to do much about it. It was almost as if it was terrified of taking a single step.

But the moment the wind began to falter even slightly a counterattack came, this time a web of red sparks dancing along the ground, jumping in arcs towards the Vulpix. The Thunder Wave attack was joined by a few stray blue sparks.

Faran

Faran grinned as his Ominous Wind appeared to be giving the Pikachu some trouble. The Vulpix guessed that at least, considering the fact that his opponent didn't move although there was more than enough time for him to get out of the way. He was so pleased with himself for having landed an attack that he didn't take advantage of the opening in his opponent's stance until it was a bit too late. The red and blue sparks were headed for them as he blinked with surprise, realizing that he should have attacked, and he sent a Will-o-wisp at the Pikachu which went off its course and over his opponent's head because he was forced to dash out of the way from the major sparks that headed for him. He managed to get past the brunt of the attack though he didn't avoid all of it, wincing as some sparks off the side hit him. Thankfully it wasn't quite enough for its intended paralysis, otherwise the Vulpix would be in far worse shape than he was currently.

"Missed me!" he cheered, jumping up and down and quite oblivious to the fate that he'd just escaped. Gleefully, the Fire Type skipped about, completely forgetting that he was open for any sort of attack. Realizing after a moment that his Will-o-wisp had failed to go anywhere near Rozul, Faran scrambled for a quick comeback, acting as though he hadn't missed a step and let a stream of fire head from his mouth toward the Pikachu, the Ember hopefully aimed a bit more accurately.

Harumi

Harumi let out a little sigh of letdown as she sat down on her haunches in front of the Wynaut before her.
"I could beat up a Dragonite..." The Eevee muttered softly with a childish pout as it was mentioned neither of them would stand much a chance against a Dragonite.
As the Wynaut held out his hand for a shake, Harumi shrugged and took it in her paw, shaking it in a friendly manner.
"Call me whatever you want, as long as it isn't 'Miss Eclipse.' I haaaaate that..." She replied with a smirk.
After breaking the handshake, the small fox Pokemon took a few steps back, pawing at the ground.
"Alright! If you don't give me a good fight, I won't respect you one bit for lying to me!"

Aiden

Aiden sat there in his area, blinking and flicking his ears.
Most of the other Pokemon had been paired up and even started fighting.
Where was his partner?
With a little sigh, the Umbreon rest his head on his paws and waited.
Eventually, a Scizor entered the area and approached Aiden.
The Umbreon's ears gave a little flick as the Bug Pokemon began to speak to him.
"Apologies, but it seems your opponent has gone missing. We took the liberty of pairing up with another Pokemon, though. If you'd still like to fight, please move to L-4 and wait for the Pokemon called Veritas," The Scizor said.
Yawning a bit, Aiden sat up and began to scratch behind his ear with his hind leg.
"Eeeeeyup... I'll be there..." He replied indignantly.
Standing up onto his paws, the Umbreon trotted over to L-4.
He sat down right in the middle and waited, just as he had with the previous area.

Imiti

The first thunderbolt threw Imiti backward, causing him to drop the spoons and disrupting his concentration on the staff, which dropped to the ground. He got up, teleported out from under the storm so that he was just above the barrier, and resumed the attack. The staff was now no longer limited to simple strikes. For example, at one point the staff attempted to trip Finian by his hind legs, and another to pick him up bodily by the horn. In addition, the spoons he'd been carrying became part of the attack as well, throwing themselves at the Absol repeatedly.

Oliver

Seeing the Skarmory's rapid approach with no sign of slowing, Oliver abandoned the remaining rod and drew two quite large, very real knives. As the Skarmory came forward, wings slashing, he brought the blades forward and down on the wings to parry them. At the same time he jumped up and forward as hard as he could. A great burst of water aimed downward and behind him gave him enough height that he landed behind Katara. He attempted a slash at her back as he went past, then followed it with another Hydro Pump in her direction.

(Yes, I broke my pattern of not naming attacks. There's only so many ways you can describe a jet of water. How many different "I shoot water" attacks do you need, anyway? >_>)

Basilisk :: Ren :: Jonah

Isis would find her punch going through his feathers rather easily, however it would stop cold as it hit something much too hard to be considered bone. Stopped cold, get it? Because its an ice punch and...well, yeah, you get it.

Cold ice spread out in a thin coat over his thick, rocky skin, a small and yet still noticeable crack under the Smoochums fist. It probably wouldn't have even chipped if the attack hadn't been backed by frozen water, something that was twice as hurtful as regular water to him.

His face didn't exactly show it at first...it stayed curious and friendly, and his eyes slowly looked down at his wing. He tilted his head to the side, "...ow. I felt that one...interesting..." he mumbled the last part, so low it couldn't be heard. The Archen looked at his right, frozen over wing, "Now its my turn, right?"

His wing began to glow white, glistening like steel as the tips of his feathers seemed to become sharper. He raised his arm up, coming down fast in one quick slash downwards. Give him some credit, he'd thought about it first! If anyone card to notice, his aim was sort of off...he'd been told not to hurt anyone, the most Isis would get if she failed to get out of the way, and maybe even if she got closer, were two or three scratches.

Basilisk turned around the minute he felt someone poking at his tail. 'Ren I swear if thats you I'm going to-' ah, it was a Phione, no cause for alarm. Wait, weren't those rare? What was a...you know what, never mind, it shouldn't surprise him anymore. Not if what Ren and Jonah had told him about the Ninetales was right, anyways. And wasn't there a Lugia at the garden event?

The grass type waved at Phione as he said hi, from the looks of it he was still a kid. He'd never really been around a kid, but he assumed this was what it was like. "Unhappy?" Oh, he could make a thousand mile long list of things he was unhappy about, it would be easier to ask what he was happy about. Ren had a reason for calling him "sir emo snake" when she was bored. "Right now I am 'unhappy' because I'm in this outfit" he gestured at his "cute" cheerleader uniform. "No man wears a skirt, much less the matching crop top" unless they were into that kind of stuff, which he wasn't.
