Bane snorted. "I'm not sweating right now, and I think by the time I grew up I'd have used up a single can of bubbles, one way or the other," he retorted, though since he had asked he wasn't really annoyed with Aoi.

He was silent for a moment, collecting his words and trying to sort them out in a way that made sense. "Well I guess mine's as full of as many holes. I think this place has something to do with it."

Bane shrugged his wings out in a brief gesture meant to take in the whole island. "I mean it should be obvious from the sheer number and variety of fruit trees that this place didn't start out natural. I have no idea if there's any magic in the land, but it's so close to the water and with all this fog everyday."

Bane looked at a bubble as it floated by. "Bubbles are water-based. I think somehow I got equal parts of flame and water in my personality." He shrugged again. "Like I said, it's full of holes. If it was a matter of personality alone I wouldn't be the only one able to make bubbles."

Nodding, the glowing vixen stopped to watch Bane quietly. "I liked my theory better." She joked lightly, continuing to move ahead. Her eyes flicked to the water, waiting to see if she saw Freya. No such luck. She was growing slightly worried.

"It smells like a storm." She said, glancing over at him and flicking her tail. She looked up at the sky. Ah. Cloudy and dark. Perhaps they should go and take shelter? Did he even have shelter? Or was he the type to thick it out? He was a 'Daeva, he probably could withstand a moderate storm.

"Should we stop or continue?"

Bane shook his head. "We're fine. It only smells like a storm cause of all the water around here, it makes the clouds fill with water and turns the sky overcast." He looked out over the waves. "I've lived here my whole life, I'd be able to read the warning signs if there was anything out there to really worry over."

Bane looked over his shoulder with a solemn expression. "Unless you could getting drizzled on as dangerous," he said in somber tones as though it was the worst thing that could ever happen. "I wouldn't want the water to extinguish your glow." A glint of amusement in his eyes broke through the somber facade.

"My glow?" She flicked her tail, watching her glow trail after it and rest where it stayed. Chuckling slightly she shook her head, eyes reaching his.

"Or are you more worried about the rain bursting your bubbles?" She asked, looking at his flames. She had always wondered this but never had a chance to actually ask a 'Daeva. "When wet, is it possible for your flames to come out or not?" She asked, looking up at him. "Also, do the flames leave the ankle area without fur or not?"

Ah, she was filled with to many questions...

Bane rolled his eyes at that. "Water isn't going to harm more water, my bubbles will be fine," he responded, then turned his mind to ways he could possibly annoy Aoi with some questions of his own. They were sadly few against the arsenal she probably had for him, since she was completely normal aside from her glowing. They'd already covered that, so this was going to take some thinking...

Nope, he had nothing. Ah well, he could always use the isn't-it-obvious voice.

He raised up a paw for Aoi to inspect, raising an eyebrow. "I'd say it's distinctly furred, wouldn't you," he asked. No need for flames now, she'd seem him flame a bit earlier when he first found her in the trees.

"Since they're tied to my energy, like your glow, they don't require me being dry to work."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 14, 2011 3:00 am

Shrugging in response she didn't seem fazed with his response, instead viewing his paw quietly, nodding, and then choose to continue her way to help circle the island and make sure it was alright.

She had decided to halt on the questions, for now. Though poor Bane if she found another one, or two, or three. She wouldn't mind if he had his own she supposed, though she doubted he did. Her own self and life was not as interesting or different as his, nor would it possibly ever be.

Hm. She perhaps liked being bland, in a way. It kept herself having a calm, distant life that was near Freya at times. It meant little to no drama unless she was kicking Akira's mates a**. Though sometimes she did see herself one day having children she doubted she'd find a mate. Which in a way was fine with her. Why desire something you yourself knew was impossible?

For a while the two walking in silence. They'd already reached the end of the apple orchard, and were starting to weave in an out of cherry trees. They had lost their blossoms already, gone with spring, but the sweet red fruits were beginning to ripen and soon would be ready for eating.

Strangely enough, the more they walked in silence the twitchier Bane started feeling. Finally, when it got to the point when he feared he would physically start twitching, he stopped and sat.

"Your silence worries me more than your questions, Firefly," he said, eyes narrowing. "I can't help but feel you're plotting something horrible."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 14, 2011 3:31 am

Stopping where she was when he spoke, she merely turned around to glare at him comically. Firefly? What now? When did she seem the type to get nicknames, eh? Seriously? She glared at him more, considering names to give him. When she came up blank she turned her head to the side and frowned.

She'd punish him with silence since it disturbed him so much. Yessss. That was what he would get for giving her such a... strange nickname. Not even Freya gave her nicknames! She was just Aoi, always Aoi. Or brat. Or pest. Or b***h. But not an actual nickname. Hmmm.

Bane raised an eyebrow. "I know you're thinking about something," he warned, raising both wings high. It was actually not a bluff; already he noticed Aoi got a little thought crinkle on her brow when she was shifting through deeper possiblities. All foxes had a tell of some kind. His was a tendency to shift his wings like he was trying to find a more comfortable position.

"Tell me, or I'll pick you up and drop you in the ocean," he threatened, fancing he sounded like an odd parent trying to scare an errant child into behaving.

Oh hell no. He was not telling her what to do, hell no. Just for this she blankly kept staring to her right. Luckily she knew how to swim. If he dropped her she would be fine. Hell. She might bite his tail just to show spite. He was not her daddy, nope. Wait, she didn't have a daddy.

Either way! He didn't get to tell her what to do. Yes, they were both being childish, shocker. The blue vixen was very content staying mute and observing the ocean, see what he could do about it. Yes. She was a difficult vixen. Tough.

Bane watched as Aoi's face set into a mask of stubborness, and contemplated his options. Of course the most obvious one would be the actually follow through with his threat. Pick her up and dump her in the ocean, likely somewhere closer to the mainland shore.

It was the obvious part that stood out in his mind, and made Bane pause. It would be just what she might expect too. Even female Phims, generally the smallest in body of all winged foxes, with enough strength built up could lift other foxes. He was not only a Daeva, he was a male Daeva, biggest of the big when it comes to the species as a whole. Well making allowances for Guardians, though it was their long necks and bulkier bodies that gave them the size advantage in Bane's mind; height-wise a male Daeva and Guardian were the same when standing shoulder to shoulder.

Aoi was a normal female. On the list of things smaller than normal females was kits, permakits, and BCRs. Of course there were always a few exceptions, but in Aoi's case she was a classic example of a normal Modifox vixen. Bane not only had a good three feet of height on her, possibly more, he had his own sheer physical size. It would be child's play for him to lift her up.

'Which means she's probably expecting it,' he thought, eyes narrowing a smidge and wings shifting slightly even in their spread out state. Well, if she was expecting it...

Bane shrugged. "Fine then," he said. He walked forward a few feet, looked up at the open space between the trees, then launched himself into the sky. The fog swirled, disturbed, then quickly settled back into it's ghostly mist, hiding the male. All that was left behind were a few rainbow bubbles.

((I has potential, vauge plots for this, I shall poke you with 'em later.))

When he flew off the vixen pouted. What the hell? She did not like being ditched, not at all. Standing, the vixen heading for where she saw the bubbles. HM! Ha! She could follow that! Idiot, did she really think she was dumb! Feeling clever and smart, she followed the rainbow bubbles, tial swishing.

Hmpf! She'd find him and chew on his ear. Yea. b*****d thought he was smart, huh? She's show him.

((I did a time skip, sometime around evening I'm thinking.))

Bane was feeling satisfied with his day's work. He'd managed to make an entire round of inspecting his island from the sky, which wasn't the best way to see details given how many trees there were, but something he did every once in awhile. Oh, he'd also been leading Aoi on a merry chase.

Of course he knew his bubbles could last for a fairly long period of time if left alone in a damp enough environment. Usually he just kept the bubbles to an extreme minimum, and on sunny days they went up quicker. As though the weather was conspiring with him though, it stayed foggy and optimal for maximum bubble life expectancy. All Bane had to do was dip back down under the branches and coast low, leaving a trail of bubbles behind, then go back up and continue his aerial inspection.

At the moment he was on the ground, wings folding against his back and resting. He'd picked one of his favorite spots, a broad branch in what had to be the oldest cherry tree on the island. It was so old it didn't even produce fruit any more, and Bane worried that it might end up dying in his lifetime. Ocean storms were rough, and plently of saplings were vying for the space and sunlight.

He stared out at the mistly land from his high perch, mind shuffling through a variety of subjects and just wool-gathering.

Stupid man, she had decided she hated him. Yes. Hated him. Sounded pretty good right about now. She had decided that enough was enough, ignoring the bubbles in favor of something else to do. Like, say, visiting the places he told her not to visit. Hey, he ran off, so technically she could pull the "I didn't know where I was" trick.

So, she was venturing in the section he told her not to, tail flicking lazily back and forth. Stupid boy. Like she'd follow him... well... she would if she wasn't throughly annoyed and sure the 'Daeva was just being an a**. She would teach him a les-

'Thump'
"God dammit!"

Well, that hadn't worked out. Aoi found herself in a hole, a steep one. One she couldn't leave. How the hell....? For a second she contemplated yelling for help, but her pride got in the way. Screw that. She'd find some other way to get out...

((Realized in my last post I said he was on the ground, then in a tree XD He's in a tree, I was probably distracted when I wrote the last post.))

Bane sighed softly. He'd shifted forward a bit to a slightly narrower section of the branch so that he could rest with his paws dangling on either side and his chin flat against the wood.

He actually felt the quiet rumble he heard with his ears through the wood of the tree. His ears twitched, glancing in the direction he thought it came from. Sounded like a pocket of land shifted. It happened frequently enough; the very creation of this island made a few instabilities in the land, and with all the trees around sometimes the roots could shift things around as they grew. Sounded like land settling.

Bane hesitated. He was comfortable where he was, and it wasn't like the hole was going anywhere. Should he get up and investigate? He'd told Aoi to stay out of the cherry orchard and she agreed, so it couldn't be her. Yes, it was probably just land settling.
