As the torrential wave had struck upon the lands Arun had been near the coast looking through the smooth stones alongside Arin. It had taken them by surprise and washed them further inland than they thought, and they at once figured the best place to look for others would be near where the wave had birthed: the shore.

"Hello!" Arun called out, bright eyes looking around for family, friends, and his ears fell back. Where was his family, his brothers, sisters, the family was so large, surely they hadn't...

He couldn't stomach the thought.

"Hello!" he called agan.

Arin was beside him, and walked close, she was much smaller than his large form, and she was cold, and wondered where the others were. Where was Zarin, those eyes and faces she knew well? True, she had come from the roguelands originally, but this was her home, those alongside the sea were her family.

((apologies for my slow guys! Syr should NOT be allowed to start reading series' of books XD!))

"Zehyr" The big black and white male smiled and touched his daughters cheek with a paw. "Your eye." He frowns leaning forwards to lick at the wound without any trepidation. "You need to see a healer." He whispers, all the usual jolliness had left his voice, his brow turned in a deep frown. "Stay with me now lassies, we need to find the rest of your siblings and your mother."

Turning his gaze on Hera he smiles gently "You did good me darlin' now let me look after ya okay?" He bends down and physically lifts hera on to his back. He did it with practiced ease, his hugs form holding his daughter easily as if she were still a little cub.

He looks at Zephr and nuzzles her cheek. "Stay by my shoulder lassy." He whispers, his ears tilting he looks to the sky.

A tiny red dot falls from the clouds alighting squarely on Poseidons head. "Posey!" Amphitrite clicks her beak in an agitated manner. "What happened..wheres the cubs?" Her small head flicks about her eyes wide and worried.

"Am, Am, I'm glad ya safe lassy, unfurl thee wings and go on a search for me. Find me kids lassy!"

The small deep red bird bobs her head and opens up her wings, heading out towards the sea. "I'll find them.." She calls her wings beating hard and fast on the search for any survivors out on the waves.

Das Tor

Pelleas had seen everything from the sky. The wave was so huge it had touched his wings no matter how high he had flown above the beach. His long tapered blue wings clipped the clouds as he lowered himself back towards the beach. He searched with keen eyes for the black and red shape that was Vuai only to see another familiar shape. Kivumbi, Vuai's mate, she seemed to be getting help but he dropped from the sky any way and landed heavily, his deep blue wings spread wide. "You okay?" He clicks his beak slowly settling his wings against his back as he hops beside the dark lioness carrying Kivumbi.

"Some wave huh?" He clicks his beak, trying to make a joke at a time like this, probably not a good idea but he had to look on the good side, his wings were working and it seemed that Vuai's mate had made it out alive, though obviously not unscathed. He eyes the other two lions, he didn't recognise them, though he had seen them when he was patrolling with Vuai. "Do you need wing?" He clicks his beak, he could hardly say paw now could he? Still, he could go and find Vuai and bring him here if they needed it. "He's probably worried sick." He clicks his beak and twitches his wings continuing to hop along the ground which was awkward for the vulture but his loyalty to the black and red lion who was his fishing partner kept him on the ground, this was Vuai's mate, he needed to check she was okay before he went to get him.

Welchenos's voice betrayed his own fear when he answered. "I haven't seen anyone - but I was a ways in land when the water flooded up. Do you know what happened? Have you seen anyone else? I can't find anyone!"

Panting, Welchenos had started climbing a rocky outcropping to see what he could see. "I can't even find my cousins or uncles or aunts. Do you know what happened? Everything was fine - and then it flooded!"

Neith smiled at the god and nodded.

"Would you mind helping with the search parties for now then? I am sure everyone would be most grateful for you to search when you return as well." She smiled at the god and then turned back to their small group.

She looked at Farooq, Mahatma and Dimbwi. "Would you both like to go out searching? If neither of you are injured. You can go as well." She looked at Dufi as she spoke. "Bring everyone back here."

She then went up to Kwaruza as Dufi moved towards Mahatma and Dimbwi.

"We will need to talk soon but for now who was the lioness you sent off earlier?" She wanted to know everything but at least she was making progress with something!

--------

Dufi was surprised to find someone actually talk directly at her and she wasn't sure the others would want her on their little search expedition but she could help. She wanted to find her darling red lion anyway. Where was he?

"Okay do one of you two want to lead the way? Sooner we leave the quicker we will make it back." It was slightly strange hearing Dufi talk and act like any other lion. Everyone was so use to see her talking to flowers and most of all the sea it was strange her being normal. She felt betrayed though by the waters that she loved and right now she needed to find those who were missing.

-----

Aysu got back soon enough, her mouth full of random plants and things that she dug a little hole and deposited them into.

"Kwaruza I am going to need somewhere dry! Everything is so wet but I can't have the injured getting wet still, it just won't help them!" She looked desperately at Kwaruza completely ignoring the new lioness - who ever she really was.

------

Kwaruza agreed with Neith's plan of action though she didn't want to see Dufi leaving, she wanted her daughter by her side. She looked around at the three Neith was sending off and smiled and nodded showing she agreed it was a good plan.

"The lioness I sent off?" Kwaruza looked confused for a minute. "Oh Aysu, she is one of the apprentice healers. Here she is..." She spotted her heading towards them and smiled, they also didn't really know where her family was.

"Okay we will check the dens though I am not sure any will help. We may need to go into the rogue lands, find dry grasses or something, lots of it. Aysu you need to stay here. Before you all go, will one of you collect grasses from the rogue lands? We will need a lot of it." She looked desperately at the group of lions Neith was sending off. This was going to be a mission to get this pride back together.

Kivumbi was relieved to see Pelleas. It meant her mate couldn't be too far off. "Pelleas...I'm afraid one of my legs is broken. And I can't find the cubs." Though the boys weren't really CUBS any longer. "Is Vuai alright? Where is he?"

The worry Kivumbi showed for her mate and cubs had Lith'elen shoving back her own worry for Betta and Koi. Her own beloved and one of her dear cubs were missing. "My son says there's a group gathering over that way." She nodded in the direction they'd been going. "Is that true?" Now that they had a guide, she looked to Kuhli and nodded. One of them could go looking for the rest of their little family. The white-maned male nodded and bounded off to look for his father and sister.

Kuhli made his way from his mother, the lioness she was helping, and the fishing bird the lioness so obviously knew. He needed to look for his father and sister and any cubs that were hurt or lost. And he ended up nearly running into a teal lioness smaller than him. Then again, thanks to his heritage, MOST others were smaller than him. He yelped and backed away quickly, hoping he hadn't hurt or offended her. "I'm so sorry! Are you okay?"

Kizi's ears went back, knowing all too well the fear the other felt. "The sea came up with a great big wave, and washed over us all." He nearly cried saying it. The sea was a part of all their lives. What had they done to anger it so? "I can't find my mother or father or brothers, either." He couldn't hide the fear and panic in his voice at all now, hearing it in the other's. "Maybe we can find someone else? Someone who knows where everyone is!" Whether his suggestion was hope or denial, one couldn't be entirely sure.

Pelleas clicked his beak and opened up his slaty blue wings. "Not found him yet, but theres a big group not too far away. I just saw you first." he smiles, his dark eyes looking up at the soft brown lioness. "Don't worry he's a big guy he can look after himself."

"Come on, lets get you home." He spreads his wings and takes a few awkward steps before flapping up in to the sky.

Uurmi gave a startled yelp when the lion very nearly ran over her, dodging to one side and bristling her fur as best as she could with it weighed down by water. It took her a moment to calm down once she recognized the lion - she'd seen him around before, but they had never really spoken with each other. Her fur smoothed down a bit and she gave a small laugh, quickly shaking her head and flicking some water off her tail.

"I'm fine! Just... A little shaken... But most of the pride probably is too, right?"

She sighed softly and glanced around, her ears falling as she saw what lions hadn't been washed away trying to find their families. Again she found herself wondering just how the pride had angered their dear friend. She shuddered a bit and shook some more ocean water from her fur, her fur curling even more from the salt water.

"How are you holding up?"

Iara was frantic. She herself was fine, well save for a small limp and being completely soaked and chilled to the bone, but her worry was for her family. Where was Posey? Where were her cubs? The blue lioness looked to the water and felt tears stinging her eyes. What had happened to make the ocean so upset at them? Her home, the waves which had always been so good to her- this wasn’t right. She still had the feeling that this was some horrible dream that she couldn’t wake up from. A nightmare had to end at some point, right?

But no everything was still here. More and more lions were being dragged in from the waves, along with strangers that she had never seen before. Had the waves hit the rogue lands as well? She could believe it with the way that monster had reared up over the pride. She still shivered to think about it.

"Iara!" Jelani came out of the waves and rushed right to the lioness, "Are you alright? His gaze scanned over her and he sighed, "Good."

"You're fine?" Iara gave a weak smile to her familiar, "Thank goodness. Have-have you seen anyone else, Jelani?"

The waterbuck nodded, "I think I spotted Poseidon further down the beach with some of the family."

Oh thank goodness. She tried to make her way over by herself but the waterbuck saw her limp and made the lioness lean lightly on him as they made their way down the beach. “Posey!” The familiar form became a target and the lioness rushed over to her family. “Are you alright? Where is everyone else?” Iara’s gaze looked over everyone and the lioness immediately noticed one who was gone, “Talise! Talise…oh no.” Her gaze widened, “She was by the ocean for me – I – she wanted to collect herbs from the seaside.” She cried softly, “She might be…..because of the wave – because of me…oh Talise. We have to find her and the others!” Her soft voice was firm.

But her gaze quickly widened when she noticed Zephyr, “Oh dear!” Iara looked to her daughter and to the ocean. She had seen Amphitrite fly away – she knew she could trust the bird to find any survivors. For now she had to calm down. She was a mwani and definitely needed. “Come here Zephyr so I can see to your eye.” The lioness looked around with a sigh, “Then I’ll have to see who else needs attention.”

--------------------------------------------------------------

“Father!” Kaikane bellowed over the sound of other lions. He kept nudging the bigger, green lion that he looked so much like; the same lion that had grabbed him as soon as the monstrous shadow had appeared to swallow them all. They had been running away from the water and he had managed to make it most of the way, throwing Kaikane to safety just as the rest of the wave reached him. The juve kept nudging his father’s form. “Wake up? Please!” His paws patted over his father’s side, “You have to!” His eyes were brimming with tears. What was going on that the ocean tried to eat everything? Where was his brother? His mother? “Mom!”

“Kaikane.” The soft voice was such a relief. The juve nearly flipped in the air to hear it. “We need to find your mother and brother.”Pattin struggled to sit up before coughing out a lungful of water.

“Can-Can you get up?” Kaikane looked worried as his father wobbled to his paws.

“Yeah.” Smiling weakly Pattin nodded, “Let’s go.”

----------------------------------

He had watched the wave rising with great interest. What was it going to do? Destroy the pride? The young lion frowned. Would the ocean that everyone here held so dear do such a thing? Kaiaka sighed. It was a part of nature – so anything was possible. Shaking his head Kaiaka just braced himself instead of running away from the impact and waited for the end of the wave to reach him. He was luckier than most – he was further up the beach away from the ocean.

Swimming back to shore the lion couldn’t really remembered much of what had happened since he saw the wave first rise. But one thing he knew was that the wave had indeed brought destruction. Many were scattered about looking for survivors, for family and friends. And apparently their pride wasn’t the only place hit. “Hey.” The normally distant lion walked towards a strange lioness and gently nudged her, “Are you okay?” His voice was soft, a whisper of calm amongst the chaos.

Welchenos was quick to agree. "It will be easier to find people in great big groups then just wandering alone, and it will be easier to look, too. I hope every one is ok. But a big group has to be easier to find then just lone lions. We can probably head towards shouting if we hear any more."

Welchenos pricked his ears and listened, especially for his family, but for any voices, really - anyone from his pride who could help him restore a sense of normalcy.

His heart fluttered as Iara came from the waves with her waterbuck friend. Poseidon smiled lightly, a worried look crossing his eyes for the breifest moment, though he soon placed a small weak smile on his maw. "Iara." He whispers nuzzling his mates cheek gently, he grooms one of her ears and nods gently.

"Come, lay down Iara, you can look at Zephyr's eye while you rest." He smiles lovingly, it hadn't skipped his observation that she was limping. "Ya need to stay still lassy, we'll find um." He smiles lovingly at each of his family members. Several of his cubs were still missing but just as importantly several of his siblings were missing. "I just sent Amphitrite out, she'll find all who she can." He smiles and stretches his legs, he wanted to get going, but he didn't know which direction to take, he knew it felt right to wait until he had news from Ampitrite.

"I'm goin' to go and check the dens. Am went on out towards tha sea. Maybe some of the kids are there." He could only hope he would find someone there, Beyler, Tarni, Afina, Talise and Aysu, plus his own siblings and his mother was missing. "Stay here with your mother kids. I won't be long." He smiles to each of the cubs, touching them on the head with his nose before nuzzling in to Iara. "I wont be long, I swear."

The big male flickers his tail and trotts off towards the dens, towards the den where his family had resided not so long ago, before all this, before the waves.

-------

Squeezing out through the small hole left open in the dens mouth. Tarni's head still hurt and as she exited in to the bright sunlight she blinked owlishly casting away the bright spots that flashed before her eyes. She felt sick and her head had a bump on it. She would certainly have a head ache for a few days but otherwise she felt okay.

The question streaming through her mind was simply, what had happened? and WHY had it happened? More importantly where was her family? She hoped they were okay. Stumbling down the rocky sandy hump that had formed before their family sen she sits at the bottom letting her dizziness overtake her for a few minutes she lays down to let the world stop spinning.

Izzy's body had gone limp, for the days leading up to this moment, she couldn't imagen. It couldn't be- and it was hard to say so. This life of hers was so bittersweet and now she was taken by the waves that engulfed her very form away from the lands that were always changing. The roguelands.. Little did she know that she would happen upon the very pride of her dearest old friend..

Her face was nudged just slightly, her memories were running past her like a broken record. For a few moments, she would ly still, dead to the touch until the sound of her mother cried out. "WAKE UP!" Then her whole body jolted out of her deepest sleep and threw out water from her mouth. Gasping for air that was filled with the ocean.. Trying to rekindle her breath as she almost felt like throwing up. Her tongue dry now despite the salty water coming out of her. She looked exhausted, and delusional for a moment. Seeing her father and mother in front of her instead of one singled male. "Your- alive? Am..I dead?" She asked, as she tried to get up and waved about for a short time before grasping the ground beneath her to try and stop the world from moving around. "I couldn-" Then she looked back at where her mother and father were and now saw the singled out lion. "Where- wha!?" Looking quite surprised. "Where did they go?! Mother! Father!" She screamed out frantically.. Something she hadn't done in such a long time..

Under her father's touch, all Zephyr could do was cry. It felt so good to finally let the tears roll, even if all they did was burn when they connected with her torn flesh. When he licked it, she winced, pulling back with a hiss. It took her a moment to feel comfortable enough to shake her head, ending the brief crying spell along with it.

"Wouldn't even dream of leaving now, da," she teased weakly. When she looked up and saw Amphitrite, Zephyr felt hope. She'd always loved the little bird, almost as much as she did Jelani. Of course, that was only because she had been able to ride on the waterbuck as a cub.

Zephyr shook her head, preparing to go off with her family when she spotted her mother. Hell couldn't have stopped her from running to her side. "We don't have time for that right now, mom. We have to find Talise!" Even when she pulled back away from her mother, she stilled. If she didn't get it looked at soon, who knew if she'd be able to see again? So she sat still, and looked out over the crowd.

Was that...? No, it couldn't be him. With her good eye, Zephyr zeroed in on the black male. "Kou?" She murmured. What the hell was he doing here? Had the waves washed him in
?

When Clea could carry her son no further, Atl took on the role of scout. He ran ahead of her, leaping on top of the fallen to look for his father, regardless of their protesting. As far as he was concerned, if they were too weak to get up, then they could at least provide leverage for him.

He heard his brother, and turned back to his mother, frowning when he saw she had not only slowed, but stopped moving in general. She just stood still, like a rock. "Mom! Mom, come on. We have to go. They're over there, I heard them." Still she didn't move. "CLEA."

That snapped her out of it. "Do not ever call me tha-" She blinked, watching her son run off. "Atl!" Then followed after him. It wasn't long after she'd jumped over the prone form of the poor sap her son had previously perched on that she found Pattin and Kaikane. "Oh thank the Gods," she murmured.

Dimbwi seemed to recover from her shell-shock. "Up on the cliffs, the area is dry, above the waves." She motioned with a paw. "There is a path over there, past the trees. It is a gentle path, so cubs may climb it." She'd marched cubs up it once or twice herself during bad weather. It wasn't exactly dry at THAT time, but it was certainly dry NOW.

The seafoam lion considered things, then looked at the gathering lions. His gaze soon fell to Kwaruza. "You seem to know 'ow many are in the pride. Per'aps it would be a good idea to take stock of 'ow many are 'ere and 'ow many are missing." Without much more word, the god turned and calmly walked to the water. The waves were still angry, lashing at the shore, but it was no longer a tsunami like what they'd just seen. As the water greeted him, he closed his eyes and let out a pleased rumble. Oh, the sea, how he loved it. The sand soon was gone from under his paws, and he was paddling around seeking floating bodies.

======

There was a strange body on the beach. It wasn't a lion from the pride, but someone who'd been washed away from the shore and dumped on the pride's beach. Somehow, some way, Athena'd clung to a log just enough to not get parted from her daughter. The lioness slowly woke up, coughing up a bit of water as she struggled to push herself up. As she looked around, she tried to spot the familiar red form, marked by black and white. She coughed, trying to stand. "Eris..." She took a step, almost falling over. "Eris!" Then she spotted her, tripping all over herself as she went to her daughter and collapsing in the surf next to her. "Wake up for Mommy, sweetheart..."

Slowly, Eris came out of a fog. As blue eyes opened, she looked around, trying to focus. Her mother was here... But where was here? "Are we... Dead...?" No, she felt the water lapping on her... Somehow, she found strength and pushed herself up. As her gaze scanned the beach, she spotted some lions. "Come on..." Her paws seemed to be made of rock as she walked, but with her mother trailing, Eris approached the gathered lions.

Kivumbi's ears went back, worry growing...but she knew Pelleas was right. Vuai was big and strong and more than capable of taking care of himself. That didn't stop her from worrying, though. She nodded in response to the avian, however. "Yes. Home sounds wonderful."

Ellie couldn't help but notice the almost wistful tone to Kivumbi's voice when she said 'home'. Huh...a fellow once-wanderer, perhaps? She followed the flight path of the avian, making sure not to move too fast. No use jostling her passenger.

Kuhli sighed in relief that the lioness he'd run into was okay. And...it was someone from the pride. That was good. He vaguely recognized her as one of the other Pomithi, and gave her a slight smile, nodding. "Yeah. My mother was pretty shaken. And a lioness we found was as well." He sighed, smile fading. "I'm holding up okay. Hoping to find my Dad and sister. They weren't with Mom and I when the wave hit."

Kizi nodded vigorously in agreement. "Yeah!" He looked around, his ears up and eyes alert. They needed to find someone! And...wait. Was that...yes! He looked to the other lion, pointing in a direction. "I think I hear voices that way. Faint, but pretty sure they're voices."

Das Tor
Kivumbi & Elle

Being careful to fly around any obstacles the large blue vulture flaps his heavy wings and raises to the sky. The beach was a mess but he could see that lions were massing together in one place and in that place he saw familiar figures. "Vuai!" He calls folding his wings against his body he plumets and lands heavily on the black and red lions head. "Come, come!" He squarks, "Kivumbi is hurt but alive follow!" He stretches his wings and takes back off.

"Pelleas!" He smiles as the bird lands heavily on his head. The vulture was too big even for his extra large head but the feeling of the claws against his mane made him feel better. Of course his mind raced when further news rolled off the vultures beak. Kivumbi was hurt? "Father." He states looking to his jet black father and seeing the worry in his eyes. Smiling weakly he races after the flying vulture.

"Kivumbi!" he growls following the bright blue wings carefully over debre. "Kivumbi I'm comin' lassy!" his long stried took him barreling towards the dark lioness with her prone passenger. How badly was she hurt? Where were their kids? All of these things raced through his head but first and foremost on his mind, relief, Kivumbi was alive, hurt, but alive. "Kivumbi." He sighs trotting up to Ellie slowly, tears rolling down his cheeks. "Ya had me scared to death lass." He whispers almost ignoring elle he was so entranced by the sight of Kivumbi.

The big blue vulture lands before them and he clicks his beak at Ellie. "He'll thank you in a minute lady. He's just glad to see her alive." If a vulture could smile, he would have been doing so though that smile that twinkled in his eyes was edged with the tragedy of this momentous event.
