"I shouldn't think interesting even begins to cover it." Xander murmured, keeping an eye out for the woman. "for some reason when I see her I think of a jackal..."
Soon enough the woman came back with a large bag and Xander handed over the billfold he'd been given, curiously poking through to look at the selection of things that he'd been sent to get. He saw quite a few things for the horses but blushed when he found a pair of 'cheek chillers'.
"Now then I put some more oils into the bag, you just tell the Boss man to rub it into his chaps a little at a time until they're broken in real good you hear?" The sales woman smiled as she returned Xander's change.
Xander's face was beat red as he nodded and picked up the bag, wanting out of the store as quickly as he could.
"You two come back real soon, I've got some stuff in back you'd love!" The woman called at their retreating backs.

Xander paused and looked over at Christopher, a bright blush coating his pale cheeks. He wondered if the other boy was serious and glanced over his shoulder at the girl in the shop, patiently waiting for them to make up their minds.
"Do you really want to go back there?" Xander lifted an eyebrow. "I don't mind too much but... won't you be embaressed?"

"I don't embaress very easily...." Chris said with a bit of a laugh "but she's a bit to cheery for my taste, I think I've had quite enough of her to last me for awhile... lets just go on to the pet store..." he moved to start off toward the pet store.

Xander relaxed and happily followed Christopher. "You said the pet store was at the other side of the mall didn't you? Just how big is this place anyways."
Stepping back so a powerwalker could breeze by, Xander had to laugh at the 'hot mama' that was ironed on the back of the old lady's sweatshirt.

"I dunno... this is the first time I've been here..." he said with a bit of a shrug "that's just what it looked like on the map... it should be just down that way.." Christopher pointed in the direction that they were already headed.

Xander nodded and adjusted his grip on the leathers that he had in the bag. Lord forbid he drop it and spill the stuff all over for everyone to see... He wasn't sure what he could say after such an experience in that one store but he didn't want any awkward silence with his new friend.
"So... do you have much family or did you move here by yourself?"

"I don't really have any family.. I'm here by myself.." Chris said as he continued to walk along beside Xander "What about you..?"

"I don't really have family either. I mean there's the people that I live with but they don't really count you know..." Xander looked at the ground thoughtfully and snuck a peek at Chris from the corner of his eye. He smiled slightly and continued towards the pet store, already hearing the sounds of puppies.

"Yeah.. I know what ya mean.." Chris nodded "I guess the pet store wasn't quite as far off at the map made it look like, huh..." he said as he caught sight of the sign for the shop.

Xander nodded and then caught sight of the store himself. He finally saw why it looked so far away on the map. The place was -big-. Bigger than normal. He was hesitant to step in through the huge doors but once he did he was overcome by the smell of sawdust that was set down for the puppies and other various animals. Automatically he wanted to run to see the Guinea pigs but he reigned himself in.
"Chris, would you mind grabbing a basket for me?"

"Sure.." Chris said with a smile and a nod, before moving over and picking up a basket. "So, what're we looking for...?"

Xander sighed and ran a hand through his short hair, looking at the rows of items.
"Well they've already got plenty of leashes... I think they wanted a few chew toys for the kids that are teething. Oh and a bunch of those brushes, you know the ones that have soft bristles on one side and metal ones on the other?" Xander put a finger to his chin in thought and started putting a few things in the basket.

Looking at the large signs that hung above each row Chris pointed to one not far from where they stood and said "The brushes ought to be down that way.."

"I'm surprised the store is so big, most of the malls I've been to either don't have one or it's minimal items." Xander spoke softly, moving towards where the brushes were located.
Acting on impulse he picked up a squeaky toy and turned to Chris, keeping his face blank as he squeezed it a few times.
