"Oh!" She looked up at him confident again, before giving him a another shy smile. "People react differently to me being a Mermaid. Some accuse me of being a monster, Who wants to see a half fish ghoul around? Some find me a treat to the eyes, a trophy to add to their collection." she sighed before waving it away, "Though my beauty is nothing compared to yours as a Dragon." Her fin flipped again, splashing more cold water at him before giggling. When ever she got in water, she felt infinite more times playful and more willing to be herself. "Oh! That's Right!" She grinned as she shifted on the rock, facing him now. "I promised you a gift for that of flying! Since you have shown me the sky, I can give you a song proper to express my sincerity of happiness. Um, if you don't mind me singing after all." She shuffled on her rock before cycling through the songs in her head that she saved for special occasions. Most of them we're songs picked up from the human race and passed along to clans. One in particular was a more recent addition to their known songs. Her voice started out low, gaining rhythm and tempo as she sung. Music seemed to flow from the lake itself as if to aid her in her song. "When dreaming I'm guided through another world

Her voice continued to ring out across the lake, ripples on the surface played light over her. In truth, part of that was her FEAR at work. Entrancing while not. The song was meant to be pleasing and express her joy of the sky to him.
"Let's ask can we stay?

To the place where blind men see

To the place with golden streets
Although I would like our world to change
It helps me to appreciate

Her song seemed to take up so much time, her face and hands expressing each word as she continued to sing, her eyes met that of Sheridan's, Her neon blue to his Silver, as her tail whipped little droplets of water at him again, her mouth grooved upwards before she hit the final notes of her song.
"Come on, let's go there
Let's ask can we stay?
Up high I feel like I'm alive for the very first time
Up high I'm strong enough to take these dreams
And make them mine." And as the song closed, her voice started to die with it, the effects on the lake faded as well and there was nothing left but the silence. She was breathing heavy as she caught her breath from singing before smiling again at him.
"I think that's a song from the Human world that we picked up, but I thought it suited since you were so kind to have me fly with you." She started blushing before slipping from the rocks into the lake. "Ah...." She said again, turning red as a beet. Oh she hoped he had liked it. Higher by Creed Lyrics

"I don't believe anyone would have a reason to call you a monster."
He looked down, a twitch of his tail. She was no more a monster than anyone else, no more than he was. I thought about it, technically they were all monsters, feared by someone. But seeing her in her true form at that moment, it was difficult to believe anyone could think of Amphi as a monster.
"Hey, that's cold!"
The splash was returned with one of his own, a taloned hand dipping into the water to send a splash of water in her direction, a smile and a playful flick of his tail.
Hmmm? A gift? His head titled, giving her a curious look. What did she mean--a song?
Ah, he listened intently as she sang, tuft of his tail flicking back and forth with the tempo of her song, his head lowered to rest on his forelimbs. Her voice was beautiful, haunting. At some point during the song his attention was caught by the lake itself, the water seeming almost as if it were singing with her. Was this her ability?
"You sing beautifully."

"Many People would have a reason." She smiled at him and then giggled as he splashed water at her. "It doesn't bother you yes? The water is a bit chilly but not bad for a swim if you would like." She smiled mischievously at him, a mermaid in her element before she broke out into her song.
Once she had finished, she looked over at Sheridan who complimented her and blushed. "Ah, I am not as good as my sisters yet though! One day, Maybe in the future I will be able to sing you to entrancement, and victims will be drawn to go swimming with me in the deepest parts of the water." She sighed dreamily before shaking her head, sometimes a mermaid's talk of dragging people down could be creepy to other people.
She sent one more spray of water before sliding down into the rocks and underwater, heading to the shore.

He rose a brow at her words, but otherwise elected to remain silent on the matter. Maybe there were those who thought she was a monster (there were those who thought he was a monster as well), he was not one of them.
"The water is a little chilly for me tonight I think."
That, and he didn't want to get into any water until he knew there were no skitter sharks in there. He'd had quite enough of those things during the last gym class, and he did not wish to end his night by being eaten by one!
"Or maybe they're already trying to catch up to you."
An encouraging smile. He had not heard her sisters, but he did know she was already amazing as she was.
He watched her a moment as she swam, then made his own way to shore, climbing over the rocks, that same swimming motion of his flight in his movements as he moved across the land.

"That's too bad. The water feels so nice to me." She giggled as she came forward, "Ah the bad news is, once I transform, I can't change back so..." She smiled at him again before waving, "It takes like an hour or so in this weather, out of land for me to change back." She sighed. The bad thing about her transformation was that she had to be completely dry. With how night had fallen in, she doubted that she could rely on the wind or sun to help dry her quicker and opted for laying on the shore.
"I think you can go back if you want...Since I have to dry out and all before I can walk on legs again." She amended before giving him another shy smile, "Thank you for everything tonight Sheriden. I learned so much and saw so much. You gave me a gift I have never had before." She reached out to touche his face before pulling back, her tail slipping in the water.

Sheridan hesitated, a twitch of his tail.
"I could...fly you back."
He didn't mind, and it didn't seem right to leave her there alone. If he flew her back, she could return to her human form in her room, rather than staying out in the cool night air by herself for however long it took.
Oh, now that he thought of human form, where had he put his skull pin. It was with his book right? But the question was, where was his book?

Amphi blushed at his offer, To be carried back, it would be nice and she would be dropped in her aquarium instead of waiting for her body to change back naturally. Mulling it iver, still red in the face she smiled hesitantly at Sheridan.
"If...If you don't mind, I would love a final fly back! And that way, I don't have to wait here." She flopped onto the beach closer to him before blushing again, "Though you might have to get your feet wet helping to get me." She smiled sadly, The water was a bit chilly so she really hoped he didn't mind.
"Um so how should we do this?" She looked at him.

It was Sheridan's turn to blush as he took a deep breath, watching the water for a moment before taking a step forward, then another. It wasn't that he was afraid of the water, or that he really minded the cold (truth be told he preferred the cold, having spent his life before Ammityville in the cold thin air of the high mountain altitudes). What had worried him was that he could not see what was in the water, and he was not especially keen on running into one of Professor Red's skitter sharks.
But Amphi had been in the water and nothing had happened, so it was okay, right? Well he'd find out wouldn't he.
He waded into the water until he was alongside Amphi, his head lowered until his neck rested on the water's surface.
"Grab on, I'll pull you out."
It wouldn't be too hard, so long as she didn't lose her grip.

This sheer amount of blush on the girl's face probably would've illuminated the lake with red, purple and blue. She wasn't sure why it was that Sheridan made her blush so darn much, but there he was! When he waded in, she gave a silent protest, her friend didn't have to do so much before over thinking the situation.
He was being kind to her, there was no need for her to over think it. Smiling at him as he waded himself in, she almost got a playful expression. "It's too bad, maybe we should come back when the water is warmer and we can swim together!" She chuckled as her arms reached up to hold on to his neck tightly. The air chilled her skin, but such was the price when you we're a mermaid, a very uncovered mermaid at that.
Her hands laced together as he pulled his neck up and she came out. unfortunately because of her transformation, even when the air hit her tail, it didn't change back immediately, instead little droplets of water rolled off her scales.
"Thank you Sheridan..." She whispered quietly, "For taking me home." She buried her head in his neck and continued to hold tightly, waiting for him to rush into the air.

The dragon smiled, glancing over his shoulder before raising his neck to lift the mermaid from the water and onto his back.
"You're welcome."
A few steps and he was clear of the water, wings unfurled and a moment later they were airborne once more, propelled skyward by a powerful leap. It was a short, peaceful flight back to the dorms, followed by a soft landing on the ground outside the dorms.
It seemed this was where they said good night (once she was safely in her room of course).
"Good night, Amphi, I will see you soon."
It was time he returned to his own room for the night, his books, and his (most likely hungry) pets.

She enjoyed the crisp air as they flew to the dorms. Luckily the both had the monster's so his dorm wouldn't be to far. Smiling as he set her down into her room, she waved.
"Thanks for a wonderful evening Sheridan." After the flight, which seemed to have sped up her transformation time as she walked on her two legs instead of her one tail, she leaned up and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek.
"Have a good night's sleep." She pulled back with a blush before running into her room. Quietly shutting the door behind her.
It had been....a really fun evening.
