Grus blocked the attack, then thrust a slightly shaking fist out towards Chaonis, aiming for his right shoulder. She figured he at least had padding on, so she couldn't really hurt him all that much. Plus he was a boy, and boys don''t like to admit they are hurt.
This boy seemed very keen on keeping her alive.
She nodded at his logic, saying "I understand. It's hard to get through though. When I'm fighting, I feel like I have chains attached to my arms." She rotated her wrist instinctively, as if there were something really there holding her back. "I can use my attack just fine, and I can throw things at people." She smiled weakly "And kick them. But when it comes to real hand to hand stuff I freeze."
She had learned the hard way that enemies weren't going to just let her go if she chose not to fight. She had watched a man die while she tried to defend herself from Lt. Mica. Her father questioned why she had a large bruise from the side of her knee all the way up almost to her hip. And she certainly couldn't tell him it was battling a senshi that wasn't a senshi.
Grus knew she had to get over this..wall that she had with fighting. And that it was going to be hellishly difficult. But if she was to be a senshi, she had to.
"Youma are a lot easier for me to fight." She said, hoping to redeem herself at least a little. "I can usually get through a youma fight alright. Maybe because they don't look like people." She finished thoughtfully, still holding the stance he instructed her to keep.

The hit connected with his shoulder, as he made no move to dodge it, his eyes still fixed on her intently. He had at least gotten her to punch at him, and she hadn't thrown up yet. Though he imagined he was probably too close to her for that thought to pass through his mind and not worry him a little bit.
He didn't back up, at least.
"We'll just have to break this conditioning of yours," he said sternly, "and use what we have available for now. You can throw and kick? Then we'll work on your footwork and your ingenuity. But you'll need your fists, and you'll need that fire in your gut. There's no avoiding that."
So he would have to work with her: that didn't mean he was going to go easy on her. He would adapt his style a bit, but he would try and subject her to the same things he did with other newbie or defense based senshi. Find them something to fight and then throw them at it, whether they were ready or not.
It's not like he wouldn't be there to help them if they needed it, right?
It sounded like a youma wasn't going to cut it, though. He was going to have to find her a Nega to fight. Cruel as it might be to some, it was the only way he could really see her getting over this hang up of hers. He nodded his head, cracking a grin.
"Well, youma aren't people," he said, though he had heard differently. Probably no need to tell her any of that, though, "they're punching bags and made of dust. All they do is hurt humans and serve the Negaverse. Besides that first half, the dust thing, that's just the same as a Nega. If you can punch one, you can punch the other. Anyway, your stance is good. Practice with it, you'll be able to move better. Defend or attack."
He pulled out his cell phone, to make sure he had her information so he could 'check up' on her later. And throw her in for some proper training, Danger style.

She didn't feel bad about throwing the punch; a good start to be sure. She nodded, coming out of the stance to stand with her arms folded behind her back, looking slightly awkward. "I played soccer when I was a kid." She said, fiddling with the bow behind her back "So kicking is the first thing I go to." She played volleyball now as a highschool, but being able to spike wasn't really going to help her much in a fight, unless the bad guys weapon was a ball of some kind..
But hey, they gave a girl a hobby horse, why not a ball?
"So your going to train me?" She said, her hands clasping in front of her skirt now while she tilted her head to one side. "I guess I can live with that, as long as you don't kill me or anything."
When Chaonis pulled out his phone she also flicked her wrist to make her's appear. She clicked one of the buttons to log his information, then said "Well I guess the only thing left is to tell you the secret I had, since you won and all." Grus hadn't forgotten their silly little bet. And while he didn't outright beat her, she definitely lost to him. And when Grus lost, she paid her bet out.
She went quiet for a minute, gathering her nerve, staring at the ground. She was probably insane..
In a few deft footsteps she cleared the space between the two of them. A quick kiss on the cheek wasn't really compensation for probably saving her life..
"I think your pretty cute." She said, stepping away while color reached the apples of her cheeks. She took a couple slightly shaky steps backwards and waved, smiling sweetly. "Thank you for the help, Chaonis-san." She said, adding the Japanese suffix to his name.

Chaonis nodded his head. Well, fighting with feet could be effective as well, so long as she was willing to defend herself and do the damage she would need to in order to keep herself safe. He was a fist fighter, of course, but he had met a few senshi who preferred to kick.
Maybe he would have to learn a few more moves before he could properly train her, but at least then he'd be getting something out of it too, right?
"I won't kill you. That kinda defeats the point, right? I'm not going to promise it's going to be easy, though. I'm... what are you doing?" he was cut off as he watched her scoot closer to him, then peck him on the cheek. He blinked.
Chaonis was very used to many things. While he had a habit of being a flirt and making lewd comments to the ladies, he wasn't actually a big hit with them. Or at least, not as big as one as he liked to boast and mock that he was. Sure, he could say all the ladies loved him and they only acted like they hated him to hide their true feelings, but that wasn't exactly true.
He got slapped more often then he got kissed.
Blinking at her, a moment of deer in headlights flashing over his face before his cocky expression reappeared with a smirk. He laughed it off and shook his head, bringing himself back into the moment before the recessive awkward gene he had inherited from Tony, and only began to notice recently, ran off with him.
Had to fight it. Had to maintain appearance. Would not catch the blushing bug.
"Yeah, yeah, I think I'm pretty cute, too," he said, not great with thank yous. So used to it as he was, he almost preferred people quipping at him and being grumpy. He nodded his head, though. "I'll call you," or find you and surprise you, "for another match. You work more on that mental block of yours."

Grus kept her smile in place while he reacted to what she had done. He didn't seem flustered or anything, so at least she didn't make things super weird. At least she hoped. His was the first advice to really help with her fighting inability. She didn't want to lose that help because she temporarily went insane.
She laughed when he said -Yeah, yeah I think I'm pretty cute, too.-, turning to walk across the street to the store with a large dumpster next to it while her nerves still fluttered. She needed to get away before her knees gave out. "I'll work on it!" She called, looking back over her shoulder.
"See you around." She said quietly, doubting he could her her. She jumped onto the dumpster, then the roof of the building and ran off.

Grus would never truly know how flustered she had, in fact, made the senshi of danger. He was absolutely stubborn and refused to show it, but it threw him off his game in a much more effective manner than any insult or punch ever thrown his way had.
He remembered this tactic from someone else, as well, only they had meant it as such. What was with girls and their need to kiss people all the time? He knew he was handsome, but damn.
Tapping his foot quickly, the only clear outward sign of how uncomfortable he had become, watching her as she walked away. He took a breath as she crossed the street. Relaxing a bit, he almost rubbed his cheek but thought better of it, not wanting her to look back and catch him in one of those awkward, scene from a movie poses.
"You did okay," he called, a parting shot as much as it was a goodbye. He grinned at last, shaking his head. He would definitely have to keep an eye on her, at least. Just to make sure she didn't get killed or, worse, let his good advice go to waste.
