Illarion was sound asleep, warm and safe feeling. He was nestled tightly against something. He was in a half-awake state, remembering and yet dreaming. Coda....Coda was nestled beside him. Fallen asleep beside him, and a source of warmth and heat. His body tingled with her nearness even as he slept.
But after awhile of this half-awake, he realized that the close feeling of warmth was gone. Sleepily, raising his head, he groggily called out, "Coda?" Looking around the cave, he noticed her standing in the mouth of the cave. She was framed perfectly against the night sky, her eyes shining like amethyst.
Pulling himself up, he yawned as he made his way over. Softly, he nuzzled her then he ducked his head not sure if he should have done that. He stuttered for a moment,"St-storms over."

She had heard Illarion's approach even before she felt his nuzzle. The move genuinely shocked her. She didn't pull away from the gentle touch of affection. Giving a soft sigh she turned her gaze to Illarion before letting it wander back to the stars above. The full moon canceled out some of the dimmer stars with it's light but the sky still held sway over the young mare. Breathing deeply she broke away from stargazing before refocusing on the stallion beside her.
She took in his ducked head and heard the brief question that he stuttered out before she nodded simply. "It looks like it is over. We slept through most of it I guess."
Coda's gaze softened as she took in the cave interior and the stallion standing beside her. A silent decision lay in her eyes as she gave Illarion's ducked head a quick nuzzle. She pondered just how she'd go about explaining Illarion's presence. During their meeting and subsequent hiding from the storm he'd been kind, and although a little intimidating, he had acted with a chivalrous air about him. The full moon drew her gaze once again before she gave a content sigh.

As his head was ducked, he felt like instead of moments it was aeons. What if she reproached him? What if she left? What could he say to explain himself? As those thoughts whirred in his head, he felt her gentle touch on his skin.
She hadn't reproached him, she hadn't run...She had gently touched him. Coda felt something too. His heart was soaring in his chest, and he felt much younger than he had in a young time, though he was not old. It reminded him of the first time, that he had felt sunshine on his skin. Yet this was different still, instead of a sun that shone for thousands it felt as though this sun shone for him alone.
He couldn't exactly understand or explain how he felt that all in one small nuzzle, but he did. It was there, and the feelings of delight and happiness and confusion were present in his body.
Standing close to her, he glanced at the beautiful sky--only for a moment though. The only sky, he really wanted to look at right now was the heavenly coated mare beside him.
