"Can't beat half price" He nodded towards Azzo before he wandered back out to the games.
"Bottle for 55 cents of cup for $1? And what kind?" He asked Arian as he opened the register and slide him a piece of cake along with plastic fork. "It is, the big 2-6." He grinned from under his dorky party hat. If there was something Corey loved it was attention.
"Thanks" Corey piped back towards Castille.

“Um could I have a bottle, of...” He thought it over briefly before adding “Of diet coke if you have it please? Or lemonade.” Arian asked Corey, rummaging for the coins as he did so, before carefully taking both the slice of cake and plastic fork in one hand and holding out the coins in the other. “Happy Birthday and thanks for the cake. It’s really nice of you to share your birthday cake like this with everyone.”

Azzo had finished playing his one game and walked around the arcade looking to see if there was anything else he wanted to play. There were lots of games that looked interesting, including boxing type games. He was itching to try those but he realized he was going to be late for Kickboxing practice if he didn't get a move on and since he was going to be gone for a few weeks he better get the time he could.
He passed by Corey and the people around him giving a wave. "Thanks for the cake man and happy birthday again." He gave a swift nod of his head before heading out the door back on to the street, s**t he was going to be late... so he broke into a run.

xxxxxChuckling, Talia couldn't help but entertain Corey's love of the odd beverage. She wasn't much of a soda person; Talia preferred water and tea mostly, but it was never a bad idea to get tips. Next time Talia ordered a soda she would be sure to try a mountain dew. Though ... maybe not in odd colors. The original one already looked radioactive enough for her.
xxxxxCorey's response was greeted by a tilted head of black hair. Bakery? Was there a bakery around here? "Bakery ... since when is there a bakery 'round here?" Talia always loved new places to visit and idly chat with friends and acquaintances, so a bakery to visit was right up her alley.
xxxxxTalia looked down at the kid talking to her now. She was pretty cute, but she wasn't about to let her kid down. Kids were gross, no questions. She handed a plate to Corey, assuming the kid just wanted cake. Therefore, she was surprised when she heard a very polite question asking what a certain game was.
xxxxxShe looked over to the kid who was eagerly awaiting an answer. "That? That's called DDR ... ah," she paused, realizing the girl probably wouldn't know what a "DDR" was. "Oh uhm, that stands for Dance Dance Revolution," she paused for a beat and then said, "Do you ... need help?" Truthfully, Talia wasn't super excited to help the kid, but DDR was one of her favorite games. She wouldn't pass up an opportunity to play it.

Ainsley followed Talia's hand with the plate with curiosity as she waited for the reply to her question. She wasn't in a rush, and so she waited silently until Talia replied. It was an interesting reply, but Ainsley did not know what DDR was so it was a good thing Talia had further explained what the initialism stood for. The word dance would have stood out normally but the fact it was there twice was quite interesting. She didn't know much about dance though, her knowledge limited to the ballet Gwenliana and the Snow Dancers had taught her.
"If you wouldn't mind," she paused. "I would appreciate it."
Appreciate was the word of the day in her little calendar of words and it was the first time she got to use the word appreciate in a sentence. She was fairly certain she had used it correctly, and the child looked up to Talia's face hoping not to find confusion from a misused word.

xxxxxTalia's hands found their way to the back of her head, laced together. She really did want to play the game ... but a kid.
xxxxxThen Ainsley sold the show. She was so polite. Talia was honestly astonished. She had never, never met a kid with manners like this. All the other ones she'd had time with had been rude or had an attitude or ...
xxxxxTalia was sold. She began walking over to the DDR machine nonchalantly. "Alright, well I'll play a game with you," she said over her shoulder. Glancing back at Corey she said, "I'm gonna help this little girl for a sec. Don't miss me too much!" She winked playfully and continued walking. Somehow, she imagined Corey wouldn't miss her presence too much.
xxxxxLuckily, little kids were pretty intimidated by the big, scary machine, so there was no line, nor any sticky fingers on it. Still, Talia didn't touch the bar. Better safe that sorry! She hopped up on the dance pad and waited for the girl to follow her. Just one game. "Oh, I'm Talia by the way," she stated.

Ainsley smiled a little when Talia had agreed to play the game with her. She'd figure out how it worked. Oh, she hoped it was as fun as the day she danced with Gwenliana! With a little skip in her step, the child moved over with Talia towards the DDR machine until she was once again staring at it face to... screen. She watched Talia get up on the machine's pad and quickly mimicked her by taking a step up, followed by the other foot. She was mimicking the proper actions from Talia so Ainsley didn't touch the bar either. Instead, when she got up onto the pad she looked to Talia as she introduced herself.
"My name is Ainsley, it's a pleasure to meet you."
She didn't know what to do next, and she waited patiently, looking between Talia and the DDR's screen which flashed colourful pictures while spitting out music.

The cake was wonderful!
She scarfed it down, leaning against a wall and watching everyone line up and get their cake. Once finished, she threw the plate away in the open garbage before wriggling a couple more tokens out of her pocket. She searched until she found a game tat wasn't a shooter, and quickly walked up to claim it.
It was a retro game, one where the people were made of blocks and all you had to do was jump right, and throw another small block to beat enemies. She played for a few minutes, then when she had lost her last life, decided it was time to go.
She looked back at Corey really quick, but decided against saying goodbye. She had already wished him a happy birthday right?
Then her phone went off. Castille rushed out the door to answer it, and continued walking down the street back home.

Corey dug out a bottle of Diet Coke, offering it in exchange for the coins. "Thank you. I'd rather have lots of company then lots of cake though."
His hand lifted to wave at Azzo as he left.
"Of course there is a bakery. I think there might be two or three in this city." Maybe Talia had arcade blinders. Though truth be told, some of the store fronts didn't try very hard to advertise what was hiding inside.
"Pastry Paradise is a couple blocks down from here. Got a good deal buying in bulk." He thrifty words were lost however because Talia was suddenly being acostered by a small girl. Corey watched with mild amusement letting her take on the duty. The little girl had asked her after all.

As Talia watched the girl hop up on the machine, she was suddenly regretting leaving the counter-side safe haven with Corey. She was heading into unknown territory! Well maybe not unknown. She knew the arcade like the back of her hand. What she didn't know well was how to deal with children.
But this one was so damn polite. Her hair was so adorable too! If I ever have a kid, Talia thought, she will be like this. Polite and cute.. With a wary glance at the girl's hand, she was surprised to find that they weren't covered in anything. If anything, they were clean.
Yup, this kid was a godsend.
"Ainsley huh? Well here's how it works. See those arrows?" she pointed to the little arrows that flashed on the screen. "When they line up with these spaces, she paused again to point to the arrow shaped spaces at the top of the screen, then continued, "you tap the arrow on the ground." She gestured to the ground and then said, "Think you understand it?"
Scratching the back of her head, she said, "It's a lot easier to play than explain." Talia inserted the appropriate four tokens and the music list came up. Four tokens damn. Games were getting so expensive!
She pointed to the little knob on the machine. "You can use that to choose the song. Why don't you pick what song you want to play?" Hopefully she wouldn't want to play a hard song. It would probably traumatize the poor little girl.

Ainsley listened carefully to the explanation that Talia had given her about the game and for a moment she stared at the screen, giving her a nod when she asked if she understood it. It seemed simple enough! Her eyes fell back on the screen as Talia put four tokens in, watching the counter as it began to tick down expectantly as it waited for a choice to be made. Her smaller hands reached up to the knob and she began to scroll though the song list once before finally making a choice. The song was upbeat, with only 175 BPM — featuring an attractive splash image — called HONEY♂PUNCH. The child didn't think to change the status from beginner to basic, or even past that, so when the song began to play it didn't overwhelm her with an ohmygoodnesswhatdoido reaction. Instead, the arrows came up smoothly and sensible.
The first step was a left arrow, and she tried to tap her foot to the left, just barely hitting it in time. It told her she did OK and the girl had a small grin as she went to try and hit the second and third steps which were an up arrow followed by a down arrow. She hit the forward step but managed to miss the backward step as she hit the side of the square instead of the center. It didn't discourage her and she maintained a sloppy first attempt, just barely holding on thanks to Talia's side, with a smile until it finally finished and she turned back to Talia, pointing to her score. It wasn't very good and if she'd been playing alone she would have wasted four tokens when the game ended abruptly.
"How'd I do?" She asked sincerely, folding her hands against each other while laying flat against her lower torso.

Talia felt sorry for the kid, she really did. She looked so ... happy, but she really wasn't doing that well. Talia, on the other hand, had played DDR since she was little, and knew the song quite well. She still missed a few here and there, but she was doing far better than the girl.
That was why the girl's expression shocked her so much. She was happy even though she was losing. It was ridiculous. Even at Ainsley's age, Talia would've never accepted losing with such a happy, carefree mien.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the song's end, and the cheesy announcers voice congratulating them on a job well done. Talia got a B, not bad at all. Ainsley on the other hand ... well not as well, but it was expected- it was her first time after all! She turned over to the brunette and said, "Ah ... you did great! Especially for your first try." She gave a forced smile and the continued saying, "Yeah, well it's always hard the first time, but you keep trying and you get be-"
Talia stopped mid-sentence because the time had currently caught her attention. Glancing up, she had noticed the clock by chance, but now nothing could tear her attention away. It was already 1 o clock! She had to be at tennis practice in almost ten minutes!
Turning back to Ainsley, she said, "Good job, but I gotta go! She ran towards the counter and hurriedly said, "Hey, Corey. Happy birthday. From your biggest fan~" She laughed and blew him a kiss as she skidded out the door.
