"But you've never attempted to melt sand into glass before," Kashet countered. "Forgive me if I seem patronizing, ash from a burning plants is a lot less painful that melted glass around your paws if you get it wrong." He shrugged and tried to look as if it wasn't of little importance to him, but in his own was he was showing concern.

Kyra didn't want to admit it but he did have a point. If she got it wrong she could end up burning herself along with the sand. "I appreciate your advice...and I shall take it into account." She looked down at the sand once more, "I shall try experimenting with a smaller source of sand then this....just as a precaution." She looked up at the male, and then started to walk once again.

Kashet nodded and got back up, following Kyra again. "There's a certain kind of ash you can mix with sand that's supposed to help it melt better, but I don't really know the specifics. It was just some trivia I picked up." He glanced sideways at Kyra. For some reason he couldn't really get a read on this female. It seemed as though one minute he was annoying her and the next doing something she found interesting.

"Hmm..." She looked over at him, "I will have to investigate this ash...." Kyra paused and scratched behind her ear, then started walking again, catching back up to him. "So....besides making glass and meeting random daeva's what do you do out here?" She looked over at him curious.

Kashet tilted his head, smiling. "Not a whole lot, I suppose. I hunt in the morning when it's cool, rest in the afternoon when it's hot. Watch the scenery, there's certainly a lot of it here. There's some cliffs a good flight away from here that I live around for the superior thermals. I only come here during the full moon, to see the sand."

He shrugged lightly and looked back out over the desert. "Maybe it's not so interesting to you, but I've always found it fascinating how so dry a play can look so much like water from the air."

"Wow...." Kyra looked at him shocked, "I did not realize that there was so much to do in a desert." It was remarkable that he discovered that many activities to do in a place that most would consider barren. But looking at it through his perspective, Kyra could begin to see the beauty of the desert. No wonder he wanted to live here.

"I never made the connection before. Next time I am up flying I will have to take a closer look. Perhaps I can see the desert the way you do then."

Kashet looked at Kyra, unsure of whether she was being sincere or sarcastic. Sarcasm was certainly a common trait among Daevas and he'd certainly got reactions like that before from others who heard about his life in the desert.

"There is much to do almost anywhere," he said, finally deciding that Kyra had been sincere, "if you're looking. The desert is a quiet place, that is probably why it has been mistaken as lifeless."

"I can see how the desert can be misleading. But you are right. There is much to do no matter where you live. But since I have not spent much time in the desert I was blind to it's attributes...." Kyra looked around at the sand again. She wondered if she had been this blind to all the other places she had traveled, and decided that she had most likely.

"There is much life here I have discovered....most of it just adapted to blending in."

Kashet chuckled. "Well blending in happens everywhere, especially if you're prey, but I admit our prey blends better than most. It has to, there's not a lot to hide around." Kashet looked around at all the white sands as if to emphasize his point.

"Perhaps if you get a chance you can see the hills and cliffs. They provide shelter and a bit more to offer in grazing, so there is more prey and life in that area."

"I would very much like to see the hills and cliffs." Kyra smiled at him. "I am always up for a challenging hunt, it makes it much more exciting that way, don't you think?" She smirked sadistically. "The thrill of the chase has always been one of my favorite hobbies. Perhaps it is the Daeva in me." She shrugged her shoulders back.

"But regardless...Before I leave I will have to look around more closely."

Kashet smiled in a slightly feral way. "I think it is a part of being a predator more than being a Daeva. I've known a few normals that were like that." His expression went back to a normal one. "But if you'd like I can show you the way to the cliffs. I'm sure you'd find them well enough on your own since you can fly as well, but this way would be quicker. Plus you can get a look at the sand now that you can compare it to water in your mind. It's only ever like this on the full moon." Kashet glanced upward at the moon, then back at Kyra to see what she would say about his offer.

Kyra chuckled at the predator part. That much was true, it was in a fox's nature to be the predator rather then the prey. But yet, even some creatures tried to make fox's their prey. Daeva's it became a little more difficult with their size, but still, there is always something bigger.

"If you would act as my guide I would appreciate it. Also I am quite interested in the sand. I do not know the next time I will be here when the moon is out, and I do not want to miss my opportunity." The female looked over at the male and smiled.

Kashet nodded and spread his wing, deep sapphire that shaded to purple at the extremities. "Alright then, let us take to the sky." He crouched and then threw himself into the air. The sun had warmed the sands in the course of the day, but the night was half over and the heat was beginning to wane. There were no thermals to ride, Kashet and Kyra would have to rely largely on their own power to gain height. Once they got high enough they could glide for a bit to actually enjoy the view.

((I figure you can do a post of Kyra viewing the sand from above, then my next post will have them arriving at the cliffs or something.))

After the male took to the sky, Kyra flapped her wings to gain momentum, then continued use her wings. The wind wasn't as powerful as it had been when she was first flying in, so she was going to have to flap her wings more then usual to get to the altitude that Kashet was ascending too. She figured that he knew the perfect height and differed to his opinion.

Once they were at the perfect height she looked down on the sand and nearly gasped. Kashet was right about it looking like water during the moon. it was one of the most beautiful sights she had ever experienced. And to think if it wasn't for Kashet, then she would have never gotten the chance to see it for herself.

The cliffs were actually a bit of a distance from the fields of sand. Kashet himself was used to staying up for a good part of the night, he hoped Kyra was the same. The moon had dipped below the horizon at this point, though they'd passed the white sands and were now in scrub land. The sky was still dark, but soon would begin lightening to the steely gray of predawn.

Already mountains were seen in the distance, but Kashet was aiming for the cliffs just ahead. Finally the two set down. Kashet folded his wings and waited for Kyra to do the same, looking at her apologetically. "I should have mentioned how far away these were, I apologize. I suppose I'm so used to the trip myself I didn't think."
