She blinked looking at the tail. "Oh.." She was at a loss for words.. She'd heard her father say that they were lucky to live both on land and in water. but she'd never grasped what he'd met till now.

Nessie tilted her head to assess the kelpie, "What's the matter? You knew didn't you? I can't go on land like you."

"No.. well I guess I did I just never thought I'd meet one without the back legs who was big.. I mean.. I met a little mare.. but she was soo small. I guess some how it never sunk in that my father had meant that there were larger soquili without back legs too." She looked almost puzzled. "I'm sorry If I've offended you any."

Nessie rolled in the water to wet her skin again, "I'm not offended. All those things are true. Seathi are interesting little things." She sighed, "I've always wanted to go on land, but I can't. I have to find land-dwellers who are willing to talk to me."

"Seathi.. are annoying little prats who take things that don't belong to them." Her face soured as she thought about that little thieving mare. At the mare's words of having to wait for land dwellers, she blinked. "That sounds... unfair.."

Nessie grinned widely again, "They are sometimes. But anything can be welcome when you're alone with Hannibal all the time."
The small bone-faced turtle glared at her before diving beneath the surface.
"It's the way it is, I can't just grow legs and do as I like...Though sometimes, I'd like to."

She nodded. "I see what you mean... I couldn't very well not be the way I am." She smiled, a mouth full of sharp teeth. "Just like I can't ask a bird to become a snake." She chuckled.

Nessie nodded as she flapped more water onto herself. For a moment longer she hesitated, "I have heard...there are rumors...that there are bird like soquili?" She wasn't sure if it was true, but it was very interesting.

"Bird like soquili? Do you mean winds?" She'd heard about wings.. they had wings like a bird. Never seen one but at least she'd heard of them.

She pondered over this for a moment. In all her life in the lands she didn't recall the clawed ones other than the skinwalkers. "Only clawed ones I know of are the Skinwalkers. I'm afraid I'm not privy to any others.. Maybe they exist and I have yet to cross paths with them.."

Nessie sighed, she'd always wanted to know of the clawed ones--freaks among the others. That was something she could relate to, "Maybe whatever they are, if they exist--they'll come here one day. And I can see them." She rolled in the water, the sun was too scorching to not splash for long. "Who ever knows what is real and what isn't with the stories we hear?

"I suppose you're right.. I mean.. who knows what is just made up by mares to help keep their foals in line these days.. I'd think that the prospect of a soquili with talons would be frightening... though I wouldn't ming seeking these soquili out and perhaps seeing for myself if maybe these claws are nothing more than trinkets they wear...." She seemed to be calculating the joy of finding such a trinket to add to her collection.

"If you do that, will you bring me back and show me? I'd go, but well..." She gave out a low laugh. She felt much less monsterish around this girl, than she had in a very long time---maybe even since before her parents left.
"It would be cool to have removable ones, but neater if they were real. My mother told me all kinds of things...before she left." Her voice fell, why had she spoke of her at all? This always happened.

She chuckled lightly and nodded. "Yes I'll come back.. unless they kill me and eat me.. who knows what these others eat." She grinned wide at Nessie. She noticed the change in the other mare when she mentioned her mother. "As much fun as it'd be to have removable ones.. I think Croatoan might hit the cave roof if I came home with such a thing for my collection." She chuckled and leaned her head out to the other mare. " This might not be any of my business.. but ya know.. even if your mom left.. I think that's her loss. You're special the way you are. And the uniqueness you hold makes you a gem above her." She grinned wide and nodded hoping that it'd help the other mare out if only a little.
