“The dreams when you’re sleeping are always more fun,” Shiya said actually grinning at him. “I once dreamed I could breathe under water and was swimming with all the pretty fish. One day I’d like to travel to the ocean and see some of the fish in person.”

"Grandpa once told me he saw a soq that lived in the water. It had long antennae and many squiggly legs. He saw it once when he flew near the beach," SkullCat told the mare, his eyes widening as if he was scared. His smirk betrayed him otherwise. "I asked my father, and he said he's seen soq that live in the water too when he flew near the beach...but they had tails like a fish instead of back legs. He said Grandpa was most likely pulling my leg."

“The ones with tails like fish are Mersoq, at least that’s what Aunt Undine calls them,” she said with a shudder at the thought of something having many squiggly legs. The only thing she could think was gross! Something like that had to be all slimy and ick.
Shiya shivered as the air started to cool. She moved closer to SkullCat for warmth. Glancing at the moon she was surprised to see how far it had moved. She tried to smother a yawn, not accustomed to being awake this late.

SkullCat moved closer to Shiya when a wind blew. He noticed her yawn, "Are you getting tired? I could walk you home, if you want."
He looked up at the moon when she did, then sighed. "It's so beautiful."

Shiya blinked sleepily and blushed. “I’d like that; I’m not sure how much longer I can stay awake.” After one last glance at the moon she slowly started to head back the way they came. “Shimmer’s probably starting to get worried. She’s not used to being left behind. I just hope Father hasn’t woken up, he’s like a mother hen when he’s worried.” She laughed at the image of a white with blue striped hen clucking over five tiger cubs that popped into her head as she spook.

SkullCat walked beside her, trying to think why her dad might act like her mom. "We should get you home then, so I don't get you in trouble. Wouldn't want to see your dad squawking and laying eggs..."
He smiled nervously at the lame joke.

Shiya giggled at the thought of her father laying eggs. She wondered if they’d be striped. “I really need to sleep,” she said falling against him as she tripped. She was worried that her sleepiness was making her look idiotic. She stayed leaning against him as she focused on putting one hoof in front of the other glad she was not far from home.
