How about a quiz contest? Daily questions on various topics (maybe through a theme for each day- like food, school, historical periods, movies), answers to be PM'd to you/the moderator. You could go with prizes for the day, or for the whole. That would keep people coming back for more chances to win.
You could even parcel out the gold, so that everyone wins SOMEthing for trying.
If you want to attract attention throughout a 24 hour day, we could work out a schedule for the questions to be posted. I'm 9 hours ahead of Gaia Standard Time, so I could be posting things in the wee hours, and then someone else could take over when I head to class (around 8 or 9am GST), and someone could spell them and so on.

Hmm, I should really go through and set out which contests I want to do for this. The problem is, so many of them are very good ideas.
And yeah, like I'm pretty sure I had said before, I'm planning on giving out gold to people who join the guild and stick around for at least a week, posting at least once every day in the guild (sequential, so if they miss a day, they have to restart their count of seven active days). Which I don't think is particularly hard, what with the end of the school year looming for many.
As far as keeping it running all day long, that would be my preference. Since I'm done with classes for this semester at the end of this week, and my first week of break devoted to relaxing and such, I can probably be on for much of the day, moderating and such, and the late nights for me here are much less ungodly hours for people in other time zones (I don't know where Gaia Standard Time is set, so I don't know where I am in reference to that, but I'm in the central time zone, in the US). And hopefully, if we get enough people interested, and have the right kind of contests going, we can get the prospective members helping out to keep the thread alive, at all times of the day.

I would choose the contests that will a. draw in the most participants, and b. keep the most participants returning. An art contest will only draw in a certain number of people, and many of them will post some slapdash work and leave. A tektek contest that allows multiple entries, but only gives one prize per contestant (in other words, you can only win ONCE), tends to draw in plenty of people who return to see their competition and gain critiques. My quiz would also work similarly in terms of numbers, since most information can be found online and is therefore easy, but if you draw it out over several days, will encourage people to return.

Well then, I'm two hours ahead of GST ^^
Overall suggestions for contests include:
Art Tektek Poetry Random number gen/dice roll "Guess the Price" tektek Quiz
Comments on suggestions so far:Quote: Art competition: pros: You'd find good artists, a lot of people would comment on the art, vote on them and such. It is a pretty good competition in my opinion, but only if many people participate in it. cons: not many will join because some just wouldn't bother themselves with it. Then there are those who make epic graphics but can't draw too good, my suggestion is make a competition now, then wait a few days later after the 1st competition to make the 2nd, as in 1st week drawing competition, 3rd week graphics competition. Your funds won't be depleted that fast and it actually forces the members to post more often. Random Number: pros: many will join( easy to compete in), will probably be the most popular. cons: normally people would just roll a number, no chatting at all. So not that good a way to make people communicate with each other. Poetry: pros: I know there are a lot of people out there who like this, besides you could make a few subtopics letting people give their opinions on the poems, chatting ensues and friendships form Cons: Some poetry can be plagiarized >w< and I know of quite a few sites... Guess the price: Pros: same as the random dice rolling contest, but you can make them interact with each other as to giving reasons why the tektek should be priced that much/little. Cons: Same as the random number, some might just leave a price and leave And, of course, the comments you just made on it all.
I'll probably take a few days figuring it out and getting all details ironed out and such. Because for now, I should probably make sure that I do well on my finals, that's probably more important than making sure all this is set ^^

Tomorrow, peoples, tomorrow ><
Just two things:
First, I did stupid maths, I was off by a factor of ten for the amount of people I could award gold to for 10k/join-and-be-active-for-a-week. So I'll give the first 100 people that join and are active for seven days in a row 5k, I think with the contests that's incentive enough.
Secondly, what forum should I put all this jazz in? I'm thinking just the Guild forum, but I dunno.
Oh. And I suppose I still have to pick what contests to do. That'll be a job for tomorrow morning, I suppose.
Input appreciated ♥

I don't mean to lie, I just need better resolve ><
Tomorrow, something of some sort will go up. Even if it's just a simple topic posted, without any flashiness or any big contests running yet ><

Mm, been rather busy with stuff ><
I think probably the best thing to do is let the contest die down (though it's pretty much there already), send out any trades for current contests, and hopefully relaunch when I feel less overwhelmed.
Sorry it wasn't as successful as I had originally thought >< maybe I'll do it more properly; organize things better, make some neat little artsy stuffs, create an attractive little banner, and go around and advertise, etc.
We'll see~
