Jack lost his smile as well and stood before James in silence for a moment watching the demon head off into the woods. he should have snapped her neck. Jack clenched his fist in responce and then looked at his hands. No, it would be more satisfying to watch him suffer. Slowly he vanished thinking about Merrill, is that how i might see her? he thought traveling back to the motel to reappear on her bed age of twelve laying on his back before turning over and grabbing a remote to the television he began flipping through channels.
Lyra managed to fall several different times before managing to twist her ankle on a tree root. breathing hard she sat where she was and wiped the tears from her cheeks wondering where they had come from. silently she sat there beginning to feel tired and cold, how long had it been since she had left the mechanics office? The lighting was getting darker as she rested there on the ground and she cursed herself for going so far from the motel room, if she did not get back she would surely freeze to death in this fall weather. She could see her breath as she wrapped the jacket tighter to her body, once again cursing herself for not wearing heavier clothing. Her ankle hurt as she tried to stand, and she fell back with a frustrated cry.

Merrill finished her shower just in time to hear the TV flip on. She sighed and put her undergarments back on, heading out into the room with her wet silver hair hanging off her shoulders. She stopped dead when she saw Jack sitting on the bed. He looked like he was twelve years old. Merrill grabbed her clothes and quickly put them on before saying loudly "What the HELL Jack!? I hate it when you do that. People will take me for some sort of ***** or something! You're a thousand years older than me! Act like it or god's sake!" Merrill didn't like it when Jack changed his age to such extremes like this, she preferred the Jack that looked like he was the same general age as her. She sighed and fell backwards onto the bed, sighing exasperatedly . "Jack can change his age at will... b*****d... I'm only getting older... It's like he's taunting me with that life span..." Merrill sighed and looked over at Jack and stared at him for a moment; even at twelve years old, he looked fairly handsome. She wondered if all immortals were so beautiful. It would make sense; they would be perfect, what would the use be in being immortal if you weren't beautiful? She sighed and moved up on the bed, groaned and said, "My aching feet... I'm too delicate for all this running around." She laughed lightly, she was joking of course.
=====
James made his way through the woods after Lyra. He was worried; he needed to find he, and he hoped she was okay. Now was not a good time to be lost in the woods. He heard a fain cry and he shouted, "Lyra? Lyra is that you?" James made his way towards the voice. He saw Lyra sitting, apparently she had fallen after twisting her ankle. James sighed a sigh of relief and walked over, kneeling down by her injured leg. "Hold still," he said as he placed his hands over her ankle, not actually touching her, and a soft white light glowing from under his hands. After a moment or two he took his hands away and sighed, saying, "Try and move it now. It should be okay." He stood up, smiled, and offered her yet another hand to get up, hopefully she took it.

Jack stuck his tongue out at her in a juvenile manner before growing quickly to his usual appearance, and settled onto the bed next to her. "Either that or you are just getting to old" he smirked climbing down to the edge of the bed and taking her foot into his hands. "Merrill, what made you take this job?" he asked thinking about what the Demon had said as he lightly kneaded her foot. Not looking at her he slowly realized this world would be very dull without Merrill, for once he was very quiet and very sober as he thought.
--------------------------------
Lyra's heart thudded as she heard the trees rustle as some one passed thought them. Quickly she looked up to see James and she sighed in relief just as he did for her. he was worried she thought bitting her lip as she held still for him, once again she felt bad. i am just full of mistakes today she thought depressed as she watched him do something to her leg. "he had your necklace" she said as she watched him stand. Slowly she moved her foot and found it no longer hurt. "i thought i might get it back if i talked to him..." Watching his hand and remembering the words that the other man had said. Monsters, they were all monsters, he had said including himself she assumed, so what would that make me? she wondered as she took his hand this time, it felt warm and inviting unlike the other man's touch.

Merrill gasped lightly as Jack took her foot in his hands, but quickly stifled any protests she had; it felt quite good. She sighed lightly and replied, "I'd shoot you for that comment... but that might make you stop massaging..." She smiled for a moment, but then looked at him with an expression of confusion on her face, wondering why Jack would ask such a serious question. She thought for a moment and said, "Because I want to protect people... from dangerous creatures... why do you ask?" Merrill sighed lightly, thinking, "God Jack is so good at this... I'll have to ask him to do this for me more often." She tilted her head back slightly and exhaled slowly, and saying, "My other foot needs a bit of attention, I think... Where the heck... did you learn to do this?" For once in a long while, Merrill was comfortable, she might have fallen asleep right then and there if she wasn't so interested in why Jack was asking such serious questions... and enjoying the foot massage.
=====
James smiled and said, "Don't worry about it, the necklace isn't as important as you. I don't want you doing anything dangerous just to try and get something for me." James helped Lyra to her feet and smiled, saying, "Come on, we should get back to the room." As the two of them walked back out of the forest, James laid a gentle hand on Lyra's shoulder, content to simply walk next to her and not say anything. When they got back into the room, James sighed and sat on the bed, thinking things over for a moment. He looked up at Lyra and said, "The necklace was mine... My father gave it to me to give to someone I cared deeply about... Of course, I told you this already, but you don't remember... Since the immortal has it, he wants one of us to take the bait and go after him to get it... don't bother, not only will he not give it to either of us, he'll probably just wipe your memory again." James sighed again and laid back on the bed, looking up at the ceiling. He yawned and said, "We'll be fine so long as we don't make any silly mistakes... And I'm sorry about all this... I had hoped you would remember... now it just feels like I'm kidnapping you..." James sighed and stayed quiet after that, his long black hair splayed out on the bed behind him.

Jack looked up at Merrill with an eyebrow arched, "really, so super hero of you" he chuckled that didn't seem like her, but he did not question it as he reached for her other foot. "Go to sleep Merrill," he said dropping her foot before standing and taking off his coat, pulling at his tie he made to get into his own bed, "I have a feeling your friends are close, we don't want you passing out before we get to reintroduce ourselves now do we?" he said watching her as he unbuttoned his shirt. What exactly was she to him? he wondered turning to his bed again. she was something special he knew this, not a toy, not a joke, something more.. it was really confusing because he had not felt this way about anyone for centuries.
-------------------------------------
Lyra was happy to feel his hand on her shoulder as she walked, granted it was cold and his hand was warm, but there was something else that made her feel calmer around him. "I'm sorry i lost it" she apologized wondering why they would have taken something that belonged to her, even if it had been a gift from him. "i just figured that if they had taken it from me it might have been a key to helping me remember..." she added standing before her own bed as she watched him lay out on his, "i do want to remember..." she said in a whisper before settling on her own bed taking her eyes from him to try and suppress the shiver that had flowed through her body when she looked at him, and she rubbed her arms when she felt how cold the room was.

Merrill couldn't bring herself to complain about Jack's comment, sighing lightly as he continued his work on her feet. She tilted her head back a bit further and hummed lightly, just shy of a moan. "Damn it... if he keeps this up..." But her thoughts were interrupted as Jack stopped massaging her feet. She frowned a little and was about to ask him to continue when he switched back to business mode again. She sighed again, this time with a hint of disappointment and slight resignation. Merrill wondered if he would do that again if she asked, but she quickly banished the thought, returning her thoughts to the job and saying, "We'll catch them... we have to. Or else both you and me are in big trouble. We're getting up early tomorrow. So you get some rest too." Merrill sighed again and pointed at Jack, saying, "I'm changing my clothes, look and I will shoot you." She turned and removed her half buttoned shirt and her unbuttoned pants, reaching up behind her back and undoing her bra before she reached down and pulled out a pair of pajamas. Slipping them on, Merrill yawned again and turned back to Jack before sliding into bed and quickly falling asleep. She wasn't worried about Jack doing anything weird, she trusted him not to, though she didn't know why.
=====
James sighed, sat up from his bed and said, looking over at Lyra, "Don't worry about it. We'll figure something out." James stood up when he noticed Lyra shiver. He walked over and said, "Here, hold on." James took off his jacket and placed it over Lyra's shoulders. He placed his hand on her shoulder and said, quietly, "You should rest. You've had quite the day." He adjusted the coat a bit and placed a silent kiss on top of her head before turning and heading to his bed. Laying down and sighing, looking up at the ceiling. James didn't need sleep, unlike many demons. He was simply very adept at acting like a human, he was actually doing it subconsciously now, he had been doing it for so long. James smiled lightly and closed his eyes, thinking things through and wondering where they were headed.

Jack snorted and collapsed into his own bed while Merrill switched to her pajamas. removing everything but his pants he relaxed there for a few moments,big trouble, i wonder who would what that useless trash so badly he thought thinking about James. sure he had his own reasons for hating (insert name). the b*****d had blood on his hands that the immortal had been personally injured by, but other than that the demon really did not make enemies easily. listening for Merrill to return to be he turned back to watch her as she settled. she seemed slightly agitated by something for some reason and he really had no clue as to what it was. wondering if he had done something wrong he noticed her slip quietly to sleep before he could ask. sighing he decided he might as well sleep also, and before he could fully sleep he had to wonder what Merrill would do tomorrow when she finds out He had spent some time with James that evening. she might get mad, and he smiled at the thought before completely letting himself over to sleep.------------------------------------------ Lyra was surprised by James as he gave her his jacket and kissed her on the head. blushing slightly she gripped his jacket tighter as she watched him return to his bed. breathing in the smell of his jacket she wanted to say thank you, but was not sure if he was sleeping or not. quietly she stretched out on her bed and wrapped the jacket tighter around her body feeling the warmth flow over her as she easily found sleep being fairly exhausted from the day's events, slipping into R.E.M sleep surrounded in James' scent she began to remember.
It had been a warmer late summer evening when she had found a man lying in the street seemingly half dead from injuries and wounds. "are you dead?" she had asked unsure if the man would hear her and she jumped when he had moaned in response moving slightly before staying where he was simply breathing. Shaking she pulled her cell phone from her pocket and dailed a number, not a half hour passed and a coworker managed to help her get the man to her apartment. "thanks for helping me with my cousin," she told the man, for some reason not wanting to tell him the truth "no problem, sorry about his luck, we will keep an eye out for those nasty muggers" her coworker replied before waving good by to her. closing the door she sighed before walking to her bathroom and reaching for the medical kit to try and patch the man up. his injuries were rough looking and she wondered where he got them as she carried the kit back to her room where they had settled him on her bed. "Alright... Mr. James" she did not know his name, but he looked like a James to her, "how about we patch you up?" she asked opening the kit...

Merrill awoke to the sun shining right in her face, "What a terrible way to wake up... " she thought as she sat up and stretched her arms above her head. She looked to her right and saw Jack still asleep on his bed. She swung her legs out of bed, yawned quietly and changed back into her clothes before walking in between the two beds and getting her weapons. She paused as she was grabbing them, looking over at Jack. He had reverted to his older looking self as he slept, so he looked the same age as Merrill. She leaned over and stared at him, he looked so peaceful, but that was to be expected from him. Merrill just stood there, leaning over him for a few moments before she realized what she was doing and shook her head, going back to grabbing her weapons. When she was done getting ready, she was about to hit Jack to wake him up, but something told her not to. She leaned over and gently shook him, "Jack... wake up." Merrill said quietly, still shaking him lightly, she waited for him to wake up so they could get going.
=====
James sighed as he felt the hours roll by, feeling the change in temperature, the placement of the stars and the moon, and when the sunlight finally hit his face he opened his eyes. He sat up, ran a hand through his hair and looked over to Lyra, seeing she was still sleeping. James got ready to go, setting the black cube on the ground outside and heading back inside to grab their bags. Loading them into the reformed car, James inhaled deeply, and sighed, the immortal's arrival last night worried him; he couldn't let him get a hold of Lyra again, he saw the look in the immortal's eyes, how he would like nothing less than to kill Lyra in front of him like he had done for the immortal's lover. It was no use explaining to the immortal that she was just using him to gain his powers, and that there was no happiness down that road; the immortal would have none of it. James turned back to the room and headed inside to wake up Lyra, when she was awake, the both of them got in the car and left, heading down the road towards their next destination; anywhere far away from there. "Feeling well rested? We've got another long day ahead of us. We're heading for a safe haven. It's a place where mythical creatures can rest easy from the hunters and other humans, but they will welcome friendly humans. Anyone is welcome in a safe haven so long as they don't mean it any harm." James smiled and looked out the window as the trees and things passed by at high speed.

Jack nearly fell out of bed as he felt Merrill's touch on his shoulder, it wasn't the normal slap or jab across the face or to the chest that he was used to so his flinching, although reflexive was rather uncalled for. "wow that was unexpected..." he told her stretching as his clothes reappeared on his body as neat and tidy as always. Yawning he simply followed her out of the room not needing to grab any items since he never needed anything. outside Jack vanished for several moments while Merrill headed out to the car. one by one he visited each room to try and find the demon and his companion. but it was well apparent that they had left, "s**t" he sighed to himself scratching the back of his head while he reappeared on the passenger side of the car. "well it seems your friends have left," he told Merrill who stared back at him like she didn't know what he was saying, "didnt i tell you? i saw your buddy last night, him and his human snack"
-----------------------------------------------------
Lyra sat dazed in the car lacking some sleep after getting up so early. Still snuggled in James' jacket she thought about her dream and wondered if it was one of the memories she had lost a long time ago. "James, your name isn't really James is it" she said looking over at him while he drove and sitting up in the seat as she sobered up slightly shaking off the haze of sleepiness to listen to him. "what is your real name, and how did we meet?" she wanted to know what had happened to try and compare notes, she could feel butterfly's knowing she might remember, but she had to make certain the memories were right before she told him and got his hopes up, it would be very disappointing to find that the dreams were just her own imagination.

Merrill blinked lightly when Jack told her about James, not quite comprehending the stupidity she was hearing. When she realized what he meant, she growled and angrily and got out of the car, moving over to the passenger side, throwing the door open and dragging Jack out of the car. She held him up by his collar and asked, loudly, "And you didn't think to tell me this before!? You just stood there and... I can't believe I tried to be nice this morning!" She let go, pulled out a gun and shot Jack in the face, growling and saying, "And to think I let you give me a foot massage..." She gave a loud 'humph' and got back in the car, leaving Jack's "dead" body where it was as she drove away. ===== James looked surprised as he turned to look at Lyra. He blinked a bit and said, "Well... No... but... How did you know? I mean... are you remembering things?" James smiled and had his question half ignored when Lyra continued to ask questions. He smiled sheepishly and said, "I'll tell you what, when you remember everything, I'll tell you my real name." James smiled and thought for a few minutes before launching into how he had met Lyra.
The man jumped from rooftop to rooftop, running at top speed across the city's rooftops like he was being chased by a demon. The reality was much the opposite. James sighed as he looked behind him, the hunters had apparently not followed him, and he finally had a break. Catching his breath, James stretched lightly and got ready to run again, just in time for the hunters to catch up. "You guys need a break? I can give you a moment or two if you need your second wind." The hunters yelled a few colorful words his way and James booked it in the opposite direction. He continued to jump across the rooftops and outrun the hunters for a long while, he was starting to think of it like a game. Until of course, she appeared. James had been cornered by a few of the guards thanks to the tactics of one Merrill Havik, the silver haired demon hunter. The clever use of a barrier and a few decoy troops had ensured a swift capture. Just when they thought they had him, James did something unexpected. He managed to break free of their trap and run away, but not before Merrill got one good shot off on James. That combined with his other injuries, caused James to stumble on a jump and fall off the roof and into an alley. James was then found by Lyra who helped him to her apartment. James didn't remember much from the following day or two, but he knew what Lyra had done for him.
James sighed after he finished explaining and said, "That's how I wound up meeting you. I'll tell you the rest of the story eventually." James smiled widely and looked out the window, studying the way the trees looked and how the area was arranged before saying, "Looks like we're almost there... we should be to the safe haven in... I'd say two hours, maybe less." Time passed quickly, the hours had rolled by while James was explaining, and he simply sat in silence for a little while afterward. The safe haven was not far off, but neither was Merrill, tough they had a head start, it would take some careful maneuvering to keep clear of her.===== Elsewhere, a man with a few odd scars on his face and a bit of a grin as well, sang along to a tune only he heard, but not because he was crazy. He was most certainly crazy, but he was just listening to music from his MP3 player. A few interesting twirls and a bit more humming and the song was over. The man pouted a moment, but his smile brightened up when th next song came on. This one the man sang along to as well, adding his wonderfully harmonic singing voice to the chorus as he strolled along the pavement. "Ah... I like Men at Work. They didn't even need to sell their souls to get so good... Then again, they're Australian... not much else to do down there," The man thought as he danced his way down the street. The man was, of course, being followed. Not by anything visible to the untrained human eye of course; the man was being followed by a flock of twenty seven spirits, all of whom looked extremely unhappy with their current situation. The man spoke to them through his thoughts, like a loudspeaker in an airport terminal, only much more pleasant and audible, "I do love a nice police raid in the morning. A triple homicide here, a double suicide there, it's all so very wonderful. Groups make my job a lot easier. So sit back, relax, and enjoy your time on this plane of existence. Any music suggestions? I've got the entirety of the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and today on here." Hearing no reply other than a grumbling from all of them, the man shrugged and replied, "I'm just trying to get you guys to enjoy your last few hours on earth here... I know if I could go out, I'd go out listening to my favorite bands. Well, just give me a suggestion and I'll put it on out there for you." The man continued to dance his way down the street, everyone among the living staring at him as though he was some sort of crazy person. (Enter The Undertaker. Hope you like what I decided to do with him Lyra. Leave me a message in OOC telling me what you think when you post. :3)

hearing gun shots and the squealing of tires people had begun to gather in the parking lot around the spot where the woman had taken her gun. The owner of the motel could not have believed his eyes as when he had caught sight of the woman taking out her gun and firing it strait into the mans head then driving off. Grabbing his cell phone he ran out of the office to try and grab the license plate number before she got to far, unfortunately the number was spelled to be uncomprehending so the man was unable to get anything. Cursing the man continued to the parking lot where he saw the body lying face up on the ground, dead as a door nail, a hole sinking right through the mans temple and blood left where he had fallen, "s**t, this is not going to be my day" the man said shaking as he clumsily pulled out his phone and began to dial 911. A groan came from the body and the man nearly peed his pants when he noticed it move, the operators voice could be heard from the cell phone as it clattered to the ground. "s**t that hurt" Jack groaned rubbing the sides of his temples where just a moment ago Merrill's bullet had passed through his head. he could feel the sticky blood in his hair as he ran his fingers over his scalp, "there she goes again, covering me in blood" he sighed as he looked at the fresh red liquid that was spread all over his hands and probably staining his shirt. ignoring the human the immortal vanished to who knows where leaving the man in his shocked state to look only at the blood stain he had left behind.
------------------------------------------------------
Lyra was stunned to see James' smile and she looked away blushing slightly as he told her she would have to wait. listening to his story as he told her what happened. "the other man had mentioned a Merrill, is she the same one you were talking about?" she asked him figuring it would have to be, since the other man had obviously been the one who had been there the first time. she wondered if this Merrill had been different as well, thinking how dangerous the other man had felt she did not know what she would have done if their had been two of them. his story seemed to add up to the dream she had had the night before, it was understandable that he would not now the exact details of how she had brought her to her apartment since he had been injured so she brightened slightly to think she might remember sooner than thought. she could still smell his scent on his jacket as she continued to hold it closer to herself. Watching the trees go by she listened to him and watched for any sign of other people about. by safe haven she figured he knew of a group of friends that could help them hide till everything could pass, people who knew him and could trick the hunters into looking else where. She was not prepared for anything she saw as they approached the encampment that the haven consisted of. People and creatures she had never seen before wandered the place going about their business as they pulled up in James' car. She waited in the vehicle as they stopped, watching the people move about the slight clearing as if they had lived their there whole lives, homes built on the branches of trees held curiously colored and long limbed occupants, doors in the trunks of trees revealed more human people in appearance as they came out, climbing walking or sliding down ropes ladders or stairs that reached to each level, There were bigger "Houses" on the ground holding some of the larger occupants and even stores for food and supplies, the place was in and of itself more of a town than an encampment. she noted as she watched several creatures haggle over merchandise or help to build more places to rest. She felt for a moment as if she were in a robin hood or Arabian knights book as she watched.

James continued smiling as the car stopped outside the safe haven. A few of the creatures turned and looked as James got out of the car, smiling as he waved, but when they saw Lyra get out of the car they frowned. It would appear there hadn't been a friendly human through here in some time. One of the creatures, a wood spirit, apparently the elder, approached James and asked, "Demon, why have you brought a human to our haven? You know as well as I that they are not particularly well received here." James sighed and replied, "And you know as well as I do that this place is called safe haven for a reason. You accept any and all travelers who need a brief respite from the hunters." The elder laughed lightly and nodded, waving the surrounding creatures down with his hand, so they would know that both James and Lyra were accepted in the haven. James smiled and bowed lightly in thanks to the elder, who simply laughed again and walked away. James smiled at Lyra and said, "Get the bags." James didn't show it, but their welcome wasn't exactly as friendly as he expected, and he was a bit worried about Lyra. The creatures wouldn't have done anything in front of the elder, but when the elder was gone, he saw a few of their glares return. When they removed the bags from the car, and James placed the cube in his pocket, he gestured for Lyra to follow him. The two of them soon reached an inn, whereupon James got the two of them a room with two beds st the base of one of the trees, and they headed inside. Setting the bags down at thee foot of the bed, James smiled at Lyra and noticed something, "You okay? You look... bothered by something. Oh right! Humans need food don't they... Heh, sorry about that, demons don't need food. We can eat, but we don't need to. Hang on, in one of these bags... Aha! Okay, hang on just a bit and I'll make you some food." James picked up one of the bags and headed into the mini kitchen they had. It was odd that a tree would have a kitchen, but most creatures needed to eat. James stood behind the counter and hummed lightly, fixing up a meal for Lyra.

Lyra followed hesitantly as Jacob helped her out of the car, it seemed some of these people were not happy about something and she warily stepped closer to Jacob as the elder approached and made it very clear what they had been unhappy about. Humans seemed to have a bad reputation among these people. Lyra had to wonder why as she grabbed her bags and then followed Jacob again noticing the still tense air coming from the other beings that glared at them. She was relieved when Jacob brought her to the room. sitting on the bed she felt slightly overwhelmed from the pressure and everything that had happened and did not realize she was hungry until James had said something. "James, perhaps i should not be here..." she said rubbing her arms as she sat on the bed clinging to his jacket for comfort sake. "why didn't you just leave me to the hunters?" she asked again feeling slightly fevered she wanted to go home, perhaps if she talked to the people running after them she would be able to return to her home and be left alone.
The smell of James' cooking wafted through the room and Lyra found it to be unappetizing and she began to feel rather warm and thirsty. Standing the room swayed and she found she would not be able to walk far as she sat again suddenly stretching out on the bed she began to feel chills run through her body and she pulled james' jacket closer to herself as her body temperature seemed to drop when in actuality it rose quickly and she began to breath faster, "James, could i get some water?" her tongue was dry and her body shivered as she wrapped herself in blankets, cold and thirsty she would have diagnosed herself with a fever if her mind wasnt so stressed from all the running they had been doing. not to mention the fevered haze a mind usually went into when sick.

As James prepared the food for Lyra, he heard her speak. He smiled at her comment and said, "Nonsense! We'll be fine. The creatures here are just a bit wary of humans is all." James continued making the meal, and frowned when she asked James why he didn't just leave her. He stopped what he was doing, set the meal aside so it wouldn't catch fire, walked over to Lyra, looked her in the ye and said, "I can't let them take you from me again... You're more important to me than anything else in this world, or any other world for that matter." James smiled at Lyra and went back to cooking, every so often he glanced out at Lyra to make sure she was okay. James quickly noticed something was wrong when she tried too stand up but fell backwards on to the bed. He paused what he was doing again, and simply watched her for a moment. When she asked for some water James dropped everything and quickly got a glass of water for her and raced to her side. "You definitely don't look very good. Drink this. Is there anything I can do-?"
Just then the door was opened loudly and there was a harmonic voice sounding. "Hellooooooo! Good to see you buddy!" James immediately stood and said, bluntly, "You're not taking her Undertaker. She's going to be fine." The man danced his way in and shut the door behind him, one of his earpieces hanging out so he could hear what James had said. He smiled and replied, "Please James, call me David. And don't you think I should be the one to decide that?" James frowned at his old friend and said, "No, David, no I don't. Lyra's going to be just fine!" David smiled widely and danced around James, finishing a twirl by kneeling down in front of her. He studied her a moment and jumped up, twirled around to face James and said, brightly, "Well, James... You're right! I'm not here for her! She'll be fine, just a bit of homesickness and culture shock. I'm here for something much bigger, something much more... malevolent. And... I figured since you were here, I'd stop by and say hello! Why is it you always think I'm here to take someone?" David stopped his dancing around and frowned at James on his last sentence, but quickly resumed once he was done speaking, humming lightly along with his music.
James sighed and said, "Because you never stop working, David. You never sleep, you never eat, you never drink. All you do is take souls and dance to your music." David paused a moment and laughed before grinning and continuing to dance, as he did he said, "Now see, there's where you're wrong... I sing too!" David laughed and lightly sang a chorus in Danish to a particular song and paid little attention to James or Lyra as he did so. James turned back to Lyra and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, kneeling down and saying, "Don't mind him... he's a bit insane. You're going to be fine. I trust his word when it comes to health, alright?" James stood up and looked at David, who was frowning and standing still about an inch away from him. He was silent for a moment until he said, "Goddamn it Jim I'm a doctor not an undertaker... Oops, heehee, wrong line, haha!" James simply stared at David as he danced away, and said, "I see they took the rest of your marbles..." David smiled and giggled lightly before saying, "Yep! Haha! And they took my horse! Poor Binky. Heehee." The Undertaker was even more insane now than the last time James met up with him; it seemed being all alone with no one to talk to but dead people made life difficult, even for an immortal like David.

Lyra took the water from James taking note of his worry and feeling bad for saying what she had said earlier. Fevered she reached a hand out to touch his face before the door opened and she winced as she jerked her head to the side to see the young man that entered. "who?" she looked back to James to ask who this person was, but contrary to the young man's entrance James did not seem to be happy he had come to visit. Take who James, me? i don't feel like going anywhere..." she replied as the young man moved James aside and came up to see her. she blinked in surprise but could not say anything before he left her to talk with James again.
Watching the man she wondered if he had a screw loose when James turned to her again. she felt his hand on her shoulder and could not help but smile "you are warm" she said reaching a hand up to take his and rub it against her cheek before he stood again and turned away. hearing a voice she turned slowly to prevent the head ache as she looked about for a television set in the room, "who is watching star trek?" she said, swearing she had heard one of her favorite characters just a moment ago.
