"I invoke the sigma protocol regarding Future incarnations of Torchwood sending agents back through time."

James stepped back in shock and was promptly joined by Edward, Elizabeth and Mary who all stood to some attention.
Edward stepped forward. "I am Edward, the leader of Torchwood here in 1842. We work together here on equal level, not as superior and subordinates."

Edward's eyes went to The Doctor and frowned. "I'm afraid I will have arrest him. He is named as an enemy of the crown in the Torchwood Charter." Edward approached the Doctor. "Good try Dr John Smith, or rather, The Doctor. You're under arrest!"
Whilst this was happening, James (as the second in command of the team) stepped forward. "What is this potential threat you mentioned? Explain quickly."

James nodded. "Very well. We will help." He grimaced however upon hearing that the Doctor was apparently an ally. "I assure you sir, he is, according to the Charter, an enemy. He will remain in our custody until further notice."

"Well...." The Doctor said as he looked at his situation, "I might have saved the Queen, but in the process of saving her made her realize that Great Britain has many, many enemies in the world." He paused and smiled, "But you humans, always changing your mind, evolving how you view the world." The Doctor paused and looked at the Torchwood agent holding him as a prisoner, "I have saved you all so many times. I've seen it all you know. Cavemen, space invasions, self-invasions..." The Doctor paused as he seemed to stare at something just over Jack's shoulder. It was a tall man with, gangly with pale skin and stretched features. He blinked once to try to get a better look at it, but it had already disappeared. As the image fled is mind, the Doctor continued on as if nothing had happened, "The truth is... you need me." The Doctor smiled, "I'm not saying to let me go, but I am an invaluable source of information."

Edward looked at him with raised eyebrows. "You are pretty confident for someone under arrest."
Elizabeth interjected then, surprising everyone. "Edward, maybe he could help us here. His Majesty the King does not know of our existence-"
"But we must act by the Charter Elizabeth!"
James looked away from the argument as he heard a bubbling sound. "Uh, Edward, we've got a problem!"

Edward looked round then yelled, "everyone, get back!" and everyone raced back as the bubbling turned into 20 metre high spout of water and a metal object rose up.
"That's the creature's ship!" Mary cried.
"We have to shoot it down! To protect the Empire!" James said, raising his gun in unison with Edward and both started firing.

Jack pulled out a small cylindrical device and aimed it at the ship.

Ten stared in wonder as the ship rose from the water. The bullets from the Torchwood guns seemed to bounce off of its metallic surface. Only Jack's much improved technology seemed to do anything to it that could actually be called damage.
"Well there you go." Ten said as he slipped out of the bindings they had him in. His sonic screwdriver really was a wonderful piece of technology. When the Past-Torchwood agents had stopped firing, Ten stepped past them, coming to rest between the giant alien ship and the agents.
"I seek audience with your leader under peaceful contract. According to convention 15 of the Shadow Proclamation. We wish to parlay and bring a peaceful end to this attack on a Level 5 planet in accordance to Article 57 of the Shadow Proclamation." Ten paused, as if waiting for an answer.

Edward and James were confused when there guns did nothing to the ship then jumped as Jack's gun seemed to make something like damage on the hull.
Elizabeth and Mary meanwhile witnessed the Doctor's escape and were about to charge him when he spoke his strange words to the ship.
The ship seemed to pause before a holographic screen appeared and a another squid-like creature looked down on them. "Who are you?"
