~Entry 27~ Sometimes I wonder if Gem really is older than me. She asked me what ‘equipment’ was. When I finally figured out what she meant by ‘equipment’ I just had to laugh! Is she serious?! I think I upset her, and I tried to explain it, but I was laughing too hard! And I can’t just walk up to her and clarify what it is now! That’s so… awkward. Do other siblings talk about things like that? I guess it doesn’t really matter anyway. She doesn’t have it, and won’t ever unless by some miracle. Though, if she gets a miracle, I want one, too! How about the chance to have my claws become regular feet at will? I still get a little jealous about not being able to wear shoes. And my wings should vanish while I'm running during track; though I have adjusted to that a bit. When she left I heard her mutter something about Conan. She’s not going to ask that big dog, is she??? …I hope she tells me before she asks. I want to see the look on the guy’s face when he figures it out, too. I’m sure it’ll be priceless. Maybe I could take a camera!
Why is my sister asking about her equipment anyway? Does she have a boyfriend? Is some moron trying to make the moves on my sister without asking me first?? She’s not ready for a boyfriend! Obviously! Whatever jerk is asking Gem about her equipment is going to get my clawed foot up his a**! I swear it!

~Entry 28~ What a pain. Got in my first fight in school today. He started it, so I don’t know why I’m in trouble. I simply finished it. Finished it pretty dang well if I say so myself. See, there’s a girl who has been giving me some attention. She’s cute, but she’s such an airhead, that she would be obnoxious to hang around for even an evening. So, apparently, one of the guys has a stupid crush on her, and has gotten pretty mad at me for getting her attention. He got in my face about it, and I just told him he could have her, and then he got all defensive and tried telling me how awesome she is and asking why I’d give her up so easily. She wasn’t mine to give! …and I might have pushed things a bit by saying I’m not attracted to balloons… He didn’t have to punch me for it though! It was the truth. I know mom would say I was rude and shouldn’t have said it since it wasn’t the ‘literal’ truth, but still, he was being a moron. Why’s he complaining after I told him to ride off into the sunset with the girls of his dreams?
Ah, so anyway, long story short, the fight ended with me standing on his chest, and him looking like a total wuss. Naturally, I told him so, and he gave a bunch of empty threats like tearing out my feathers and blah-blah-blah. So, I warned him that the next time he touched me, he’d get more than the beating he got today. By then, the teachers showed up and we both got sent to the principal and detention. Whatever. I made my point. It was just an hour of sitting in a classroom after school anyway.

~Entry 29~ I wish tenth grade was more interesting. Though, looking through Gem’s homework, I’m not sure eleventh grade would actually be that much more interesting. The first half of my day is pretty boring. There really isn’t a good time of day to hold a boring class. I guess it’s better to have them early and get them out of the way before lunch. The second half of the day is better. I like those classes. Especially since one is English. That’s my favorite one. She gives us a lot to read, but it’s mostly short stories and poetry. She says a book will be coming soon that we’ll have to write a report on. Excited!

~Entry 30~ I found the coolest bird ever!! Or.. bug. Or.... Something. Anyway- I went to the garden because I was getting mad at mom, and just needed some space to cool off. I’m old enough to know what’s best for me! Eh, that’s not the point. Maybe I’ll cover that later. I’m too excited to worry about her right now. This thing is apparently called a fire cheep, and can really only be described as a fire bird. Literally. It’s a fairy dream spirit something that looks like a bird of sorts, but consists of fire instead of flesh and feathers, and his wings don’t actually seem to be connected to his body. He doesn’t burn anything unless he wants to though.
I didn’t know such things existed until now. I was just flying over the garden, getting ready to land, when I saw the little flame fluttering around by where a camp fire had recently been. I wonder who camps out there. Of course, I didn’t know what it was, so I went in for a closer look. When I landed, it immediately flew over, which surprised me a little bit. Here’s the best part though! When it came over, we seemed to have a bit of a staring contest, and after a few minutes it said, “Looks like you’ll be more work that I had anticipated.” Yes! The dang thing talks! I was too shocked to reply at first, but then his words registered. I asked what he meant, but he only replied with, “That is for me to know, and you to find out.” Snarky little thing, too. Then I asked its name, and it flew over and landed on my shoulder. “You’ll have to give me one. If it helps, I suppose you might be better off considering me a male, and I do not wish for any cutesy or radical names.” I couldn’t believe how well he was talking. I suppose that the garden has more secrets that thought. So after trying out a few names, we decided on Cinder. Which works, I suppose, since he’s not quite like I’d expect a creature made up of fire and magic to be. He’s more like what’s after the fire, as cinders are. I’m glad he can fly. This’ll be even better than Klaw and Twitch flying with me! I’m not about to give up on my bird collection though!

~Entry 31~ So, I had to go see my school counselor today. He’s not too bad a guy. He’s got these figurines of dragons on a shelf behind a desk. Odd thing for a counselor to have in his office, but it just makes him the cool one. Apparently the teachers think I’m misbehaving or something? That’s why I was called down there. Well, what they call misbehaving, I call justice. And, from time to time, it’s also just having fun. I bet the jocks tattled. They’re such a bunch of babies. They talk a tough game, but get so angry at the slightest thing. Seriously though, they usually start it. I’ll admit that sometimes I can’t help but to grab an opportunity when one presents itself, but usually it’s because they’re doing or saying something insulting to me or my friends. If I was fighting them just because I wanted to, I’d be doing it a lot more than I do now. Don’t adults understand these things? He kept trying to 'get deeper' to the so called 'root' of my 'problem.' Some jocks need to be reminded that they’re not the kings of the school! I did try explaining this to him, but then he came back with the ol’, ‘if someone is harassing you, come tell us.’ That’s bullshit. Telling teachers didn’t get me anywhere when I was a kid, and it won’t get me anywhere now.

~Entry 32~ So, looks like I’ve got a little sister now. Why am I surrounded by girls? And not only that, but this new girl is a nightmare! Why would mom bring home a nightmare?! Doesn’t she know that Kris is a nightmare? He’s bad enough! Though, maybe she’ll turn out cool like Elliotte is? ...Who knows? Though, she kinda gives me the creeps right now. I met her before school. Branka, or something like that. She doesn’t make any noise. Just sits there silent. I get the feeling that she’s worried about something, but about what, I’m not sure.
Well, looks like I’ll just have even more incentive to hang out with my buds after school. We’ve been getting a lot of homework lately, so I’m going over to their houses a lot more lately anyway. I swear, these teachers get together to see how much homework they can dump on us each day. Especially on weekends! Weekends are supposed to be our break from school! It’s pretty easy, but there is a lot and it gets tedious.
Speaking of weekends, I went with the guys to a dance club this last weekend. It was pretty kickin’. Good music pumping loudly out of these huge speakers, and the dance floor had light-up tiles that responded to the pressure of the dancers jumping around. It was a lot of fun. Met this really hot girl there, too. All curves, and the best smile. She was on the dance floor a lot, which I consider a good sign. She likes to have fun, like I do. She was surprised when she noticed I had claws and feathers, but actually didn’t seem all that put off by them. Of course, I had them wrapped so that I wasn’t hitting them against everyone, so she didn’t get the full affect of them. Got her number though, so maybe next time. So, guess there’s more than one new girl in my life now, but I much prefer this girl to the one mom brought home.

~Entry 33~ So, ah, yeah, that new little sister of mine? ...She’s friggin’ creepy. She has this weird stare that she uses whenever watching anything. And I don’t really mean that she’s watching. She’s actually just staring. Like... staring. She’s not reacting to what I do or anything I say. Just this flat expression that makes it seem like she’s looking but not truly seeing. She just finds a good spot, and she looks at me until I’ve finished. She does this with mom and Gem, too. I don’t know what it is with her. And most kids like running around and making noise and having fun. Her idea of fun is apparently watching mom cook or bake or whatever. She doesn’t even sigh loud enough to make a noise! It’s just not natural! I do try talking to her though, and getting her to try whatever I’m doing, since I know mom would be pissed if I didn’t, but there’s only so much a guy can do. Cinder thinks I need to try something else to get her attention, but how hard should I have to work to get the kid to crack a giggle? If she doesn’t want to laugh, that’s her problem. I got enough stuff to work on. Mom and Gem are better with kids than I am anyway.
Speaking of Cinder, I swear he’s worse than a girlfriend. Oh, right, the girl who I was hanging out with? Total flake. She was hot, but even I have my standards. Is asking for a girl I can have a decent conversation with too much to ask for? The guys have better conversations when they’re drunk than she does on a good day! So, on the prowl again. Sorta. The high school girls need some reality checks before I go for them anymore. Might as well stick to bachelorhood until I can find anyone worth keeping around. Anyone! Wait, back to the topic.. Cinder. He’s been nagging me a lot lately about what I’m doing with my life. He needs to bug off! I’m fine with my life as it is. Got friends, food, parties, can still outrun the jocks, my grades in school are- ...fine. I suppose those could be better.. What can I say? Life is great! Aside from the whole creepy little sister thing... I don’t know what his deal is. He’ll get over it though.

~Entry 34~ I swear I’m moving out of this house as soon as I can! I can’t believe mom brought that nightmare home! How stupid can she get? That thing is a menace! *a string of curses has been scribbled out by someone other than Chad* That girl is off her rocker! Stupid mutt! *and yet another line of curses scribbled out* I don’t think even that idiot Kris would do something like this!
Okay. I was cleaning out the cage, and since mom was in her room I decided to lay out the tarp and let them fly around instead of stuffing them into the tiny cage they usually get tucked into. It was fine until Branka came in. I looked over at her and she was just staring at me like usual, so I went back to work. Cinder was sitting on my shoulder, critiquing how well I was cleaning, and a minute later the birds started to cry out. I turned around, and.. It was too late for my dear Twitch though. That stupid girl... she killed him. She.. was eating him!
I can’t believe Twitch is dead. I can’t believe that stupid girl ate him! He was such a sweet bird. Never hurt anyone. I’m so *scribblescribble* angry at her! I didn’t do anything to her and she eats my bird! He was one of my first birds... I’d had him for so long... If she touches my birds again, I swear I’ll chain her up outside like the dog she is. Mom tried to talk with me about it, and said how Branka is a special case, but I don’t want to hear it! Gem helped me bury.. what was left of Twitch. In the back yard. At least she understands. She’s always so supportive, and let me vent to her, even though I could tell she didn’t like some of what I said. She said we would talk about it again later, when I’ve had time to cope, whatever that means.

~Entry 35~ Another girl! Of course mom brought another girl home! Such bull.. At the least, this new one isn’t a nightmare. Ourania. ...Actually, she’s kinda interesting right now. I might possibly be looking forward to when she grows. I wish Branka would go back to being a dew though. Stupid kid.
So, I’ve decided that I need to start making my own money. I started job hunting. Nothing really interests me right now. I just like flying and running. Trying to find a job where those are handy is difficult. Maybe some kind of delivery job. ....Holy Smokes! I should try pizza delivery! Maybe I’d get an employee discount! Aww... that would be perfect. See? I wouldn’t even need to worry about gas money, and the deliveries would be quicker since I wouldn’t have to worry about stop lights either! ...Oh yeah. I’m all set now.

~Entry 36~ Awwwwww yeeeaaaahhhhhh! Look who's rockin' at the pizza place! This guy! Got that job at the pizzaria as the delivery guy, and even though I'm not driving, I get extra for flying the deliveries around. Thankfully, they're pretty busy there, so I usually help with non-cooking things so that I don't constantly have to wrap and unwrap my feathers. Learning maintenance things, about money, and that sort of stuff. Pretty damn awesome, I must say. And, on breaks, I get to order my own personal size pizza! ..I just can't make it myself. There are days were I'm stuck tying my feathers back in order to cook, but it's not that often. The boss is cool, and my coworkers are fun. Stoked!!
Now, I just have to save up enough and get a couple raises before I can get my own place. ...Yeah. As soon as I can, I'm leaving this estrogen pit. I suppose I'll miss some things, but unless the mutt is sent to some institution before I get enough, I'm gone. Taking my birds and heading for, as they say, greener pastures. It's keeping me super busy, since I'm working as many hours as I can, but it'll be worth it. I've seen a place for cheap recently. It's closer to the human city than home is. Hopefully, it'll still be there when I'm ready. Maybe I'll even get one of my buds to be a roommate. That would be awesome! Two bachelors, livin' the dream! ...Ya know? Even if the mutt isn't gone by then, maybe I'll still go anyway. It just sounds too awesome to pass up!

~Entry 37~ So, Ourania grew. For crying out loud, I can’t decide if I like this girl or not. For one thing, she grows in the middle of the night and goes yelling up and down the halls! For another, she leads mom on a wild goose chase, which I end up getting dragged into. Seriously! The dang kid went outside in the dark! This freaked mom out, and I got sent to catch her since I’m the fastest of anyone else there. Oh, and she’s naked while all this is going on. Mom didn’t even get the chance to dress her before she went running around! She's so inconvenient!
I woke up from her hollering like a banshee, and got up to make sure there wasn’t anything wrong. She ran by the door, looking as pleased as a kid could. I instantly knew who it was. When I called to her, she looked back, gave me this big huge smile, and ran back to jump and hang from my arm! I was way too tired for this and nearly fell over! And when mom showed up, the dang kid ran off again. So, of course, mom drags me along to help. Like, literally, she grabbed my arm and pulled me. Then the little sneak got outside! This just made mom totally lose it, thinking that Ourania would get lost, and when we found her again I had to chase after her. It didn’t take me long to catch her, but dang that kid can run! I mighta been proud of her if she hadn’t been the reason I was woken up. So, mom’s getting the kid dressed, and I’m going back to bed. ...Ya know, she kinda reminds me of me. ...Maybe she won’t be so bad. She’ll be a nice distraction from Branka, at least.

~Entry 38~ I don't think I'll be able to wait for much longer before getting that place for myself. I can't stand being here anymore. Gotta sit and take someone's smart mouth and then when I talk back, all of a sudden I'm the bad guy. That snot Nergui gives me an attitude about her idea of sarcasm, then can't handle it when I show her what sarcasm is. Interesting enough, I found out that she's even more self-centered than I had originally thought. Gets super defensive when talking about her looks. Like, sure, she's good looking, but to get that mad about a sarcastic tease? It was almost funny, except that she tried to slap me, and threatened to kick me. And if I even considered defending myself by hitting back? Ohhh, I'd never hear the end of it. She's lucky I have more self-control than she does! Then that other pup thinks she's so smart, asking me if I'm "a man or a child." What would she know anyway? She's just a kid, and jumps in thinking she's so intimidating. By then, even Gemini got upset enough to yell. I hate when she does that. Gem isn't supposed to get upset like that. Once I've got my own place, I won't have to worry about not hurting an airhead's feelings just because she's my sister's friend. How can Gem stand being around that witch anyway?
But, I guess I just have to let it go. I've got enough on my mind without concerning myself with them. The only people I'm concerned about are Gem, mom, and Ourania. Maybe Gabe and Elliotte, too. And that one girl, Ara... She was pretty cool when I met her with the guys. Thinking about anyone else though would obviously just be a waste of time.

~Entry 39~ So, I’m thinking about getting a new line of work. Soon, it’ll be too cold to be flying pizzas around, and I can’t be stuck inside all day with my wings tied up working by a hot oven. It was great while it lasted... Gem told me she got a job at some local sewing place. I’m glad she’s finally getting out in the world. She seems really happy lately, too. She must really like that job....
It’ll be tough finding another job that has things I like. Nothing quite like being able to take home pizza at half price at the end of the day. I’ve been giving it a lot of thought, and haven’t been able to come up with anything. Stupid winter. Interrupting my plans.
Though, I do have good news! A couple guys from school agreed to go in on the apartment with me. The move is on! I’ll finally get out of the stuffy old house, and away from all that... estrogen. Crazy women... The guys both have decent jobs, so once I find something to replace the pizza shop, we’ll be all set. I decided to try what Gem had done, and started just walking around town. Believe it or not, I think it might have worked. I filled out applications for a couple places, and I’ll just have to wait to see if anything fleshes out.
Oh, and, of course, mom wasn’t too happy to hear I was moving out. She thinks I should wait longer, at least until I’m done with school, but I can’t. I need to be off on my own! I can’t wait... The guys and I already have a floor plan worked out. It’s going to be awesome!

~Entry 40~ I've been so busy lately, I hardly have time to sit and write anymore! Well, I was done with the pizza place a long time ago. That's old news. I started working at a local theater. It's not anything big right now, but there's room for advancing. Right now, I'm just on the crew. Helping put together sets, going for supplies, a background actor, cleaning up after shows. Pretty darn easy, but decent money. Surprisingly better than what I was making at the pizza place. It'll do until I find something better.
I moved into the apartment with my buds a while ago, and so far, so good. A little cramped now that we've got all our stuff there, but it's better than being home with all my sisters. It's closer to town, too, so we get to go out and see our other friends more.
Also... it seems that Gem is getting married. To Conan. ...Not sure of how I feel about it. Conan's a good enough guy, but.. Gem's my big sister. I can't believe... It's hard to think of the shy mermaid getting married. ...I'm happy for her though. I am.
It does make a guy think though. I feel like adulthood isn't far off for me. I've had a couple girlfriends, but nothing serious. I'm enjoying being free, but.. maybe one day...
Oh! And graduation will be coming up soon! Imagine! No more school work! No more guys thinking they can tease me! No more rules! No more detention!! Freedom!!!
