Chase, because of his sweet tooth, had more or less devoured his own piece of cake easily. He was not bothered by the fact that she had eaten only half of her piece, he took it as a sign that she wasn't one who cared much for sweets. He was pleased to gain this little bit of knowledge because it meant that he was getting to know her, which was really the whole point of the date.
Attraction to the blond had pushed him to ask her out but it was curiosity and the want to get to know her that made him like her. Of course he also hated seeing a pretty girl sad, so he was determined to bring some happiness into her life.
He chuckled at her words and flashed her this mischievous grin. "Oh I know, a good eye for detail and surroundings can definitely get you out of sticky situations," he responded easily. He had no problem being a little more honest with Kaia about his trouble-making history though he didn't explain how he knew. He figured she could either inquire about or she could assume that it had to do with being a part of the negaverse.
Of course if she had ever seen how easily he'd engage in fights then she could possibly infer that he had a sticky past but otherwise...he wasn't going to elaborate. His smile softened when she told him that the whole thing was endearing and he stood, striding over to her and offering his hand to her.
"Good, because I love it when you smile."

It was impossible not to smile when he insisted on showering praise down on her. Although it made her seem a little shy, she was still basking in it and growing used to it. The blush on her face was a little less prominent, though not gone, and her smile felt a little less like it was going to split her cheeks in half.
She did give him a peculiar look at the way he worded his 'sticky situations' answer, complete with a raise brow and a small smirk. It didn't stop her from reaching out to take his hand when he rounded the table to help her up, but before she pulled herself up she had a question to ask.
"And what are these sticky situations you speak of, lieutenant?" The wording wasn't enough to condemn him to anyone in ear shot, but she was admittedl curious - she knew that he was new, which meant the Negaverse could not have given him a lot of sticky situations yet. With that asked, though, she stood, facing him and waiting for her answer.

He gave her a small smile, one that pretty much said, "oh you know" as he shrugged, taking her hand in his and helping her to her feet. "I'm sure you'll see soon enough," he answered playfully. "I'm a bit of a trouble maker really," he frowned slightly as he admitted the truth. "But I promise, I'm more good than bad," he quickly said giving her his most charming smile. "I just like my fun to have a bit of risk in it."
He was hardly ashamed of his misdemeanors in the least but but he was not sure it was much of a turn on or a great conversation topic for a first date. Though, because they were both unusual teens in unusual situations. He figured that things would be alright. Or so he hoped.
"Let's go, there's just one little part left," he said stepping backwards, hand still wrapped around hers.

Kaia couldn't judge Chase if he was a mischievous teenager. After all, the things she did when she powered up were probably not very respectable by some standards. As long as he wasn't tying firecrackers to cat tails and pushing children off of playground equipment, she was just as happy to not ask questions about it. It wasn't important right now, right? This was a first date, it was supposed to be special, not ruined by her silly sense of propriety.
"I suppose I will just have to wait and see what kind of risks you're talking about," her smile was sweet enough, even if the one lifted brow made her look at least a little suspicious of him. What mattered is that she was willing to let it past and trust him.
"Lead the way," she squeezed his hand lightly and fell into step behind him as he turned and began to lead her out of their private dining room. Again, she was anticipating what he could possibly have in store - surprises made her anxious. She couldn't even begin to fathom what this one could be though. What else was left to a date?

While Chase was perhaps the definition of a troublemaker it was certainly not in the kind that Kaia might have thought. He did have a disregard for safety and people, including himself, did in fact get injured often when he played pranks he never intention hurt anything or anyone. Unless it was a fight, but while he would provoke them he made it a point to never strike the first blow. That was until he joined the ranks of chaos's soldiers when he stuck first and asked questions later.
Senshi were his exception, along with training sessions of course.
He thought about a response but instead opted to say nothing and simply took her hand as the exited the building, expenses having had been paid prior to the actual date. The valet had brought up his car as the had been walking to the exit and once again Chase opened the door for his date.
Once he was in the car they headed to their final destination, an outdoor ice rink that was lit softly with white light. There were a few other couples on the ice however it was mostly empty, which was nice because Chase wasn't sure how good he'd be once he was actually on the ice. Parking he headed over to Kaia's door, opening and holding his hand out for her to take.
"I know it's a bit chilly but I thought Ice Skating would be a nice way to take advantage of the colder weather and a nice end," he told her rubbing the back of his head with his free hand.

Kaia appreciated the sweet gestures and smiled every time he did something kind, like opening her door for her. She had expected that, to tell the truth, but she had no idea why. Some lingering morals from the life she'd had before, perhaps.
Her eyes had remained trained on the window for the majority of their ride, hoping she would catch a glimpse of something that would give her a hint. It wasn't until they pulled into the parking space, however, and she saw the glimmering lights reflecting off of the icy surface that she realized where they were. She'd never seen one, not that she knew of, but she knew what it was simply because. Some things were like that in her mind.
"This is adorably sweet," she laughed, her bright orange eyes locked onto the soft lights glimmering in the distances, even as she put her hand in his and used it to hoist herself up. Her free hand reached behind her to shut the door lightly, then slid from the rink up to meet his eyes. "You really are simply filled with surprises, aren't you?" Her smile was sweet and her eyes seemed.. somewhat emotional. This was the first time anyone had truly gone out of their way to make her happy, at least that she knew of. "Thank you for being so thoughtful, Chase." The hand in his squeezed his fingers lightly to add to the words.

He wasn't entirely sure what possessed him to finally decide on ice staking as their final activity for the night but he was glad that he had chosen it. While there had been plenty of other options he had come to the decision that it was the best option and it seemed to be correct in the way she responded upon realizing where they had ended up.
He grinned sheepishly and shrugged his shoulders. "In case you haven't heard I'm kinda adorable," he joked stealing the line from some show he had watched earlier. "I kid, I kid," he said waving his hands playfully. "Have you been ice skating before?" He asked curious if she had since she had joined the negaverse, or if in someways she knew she had in the past.
Either way it didn't matter to him, he had no qualms about helping her learn, even if he himself wasn't that skilled. "I am full of them," he replied cheerfully. "I can't help it, I just wanted everything to be perfect," he admitted tugging on the hem of his vest to straighten it.
At heart Chase was a bit of a perfectionist, he was fully ambitious and always wanted to be the best. This extended to all aspects of his life including the dating aspect, even though most of his relationships ended in failure.

"And kind of full of yourself," she joked, reaching out with her free hand to poke him lightly in the chest. She was all smiles and crinkled eyes though, clearly not bothered by the playful words. She could handle a little confidence, just not outright narcissism - that was never attractive.
"No," she answered quickly, then paused and pursed her lips as she glanced at the rink ahead of them, "actually, I have no idea. Sometimes I surprise myself by what I know." She could almost see the way her feet should move in the bladed boots without even seeing the couples drifting around on the lake.
Eager, she tugged at the hand he was holding and took one step, then faltered when he admitted that he was trying to be perfect - for her. She stopped and turned back to look at him, her smile faded somewhat but simply replaced with wonder. "Chase Black, you have been absolutely perfect tonight, you know that?"

"Occasionally," he admitted easily unbothered by her statement. It was fairly accurate because truthfully he was full of himself, though he didn't publicly announce it too often it had the habit of slipping out more than anyone cared to hear. He had to watch himself occasionally when he spoke.
"I'd like to see what surprises you might have to show me," he replied happy that she was excited for this part. Perhaps it would be her favorite part of the night, he couldn't be sure but she was eager and he was more than willing to let her lead him towards the rink.
As she faltered he frowned slightly confused until she answered him. He looked away briefly in embarrassment and when he looked back he was smiling proudly at her, though his cheeks were tinged with pink from his blush. "Ah," he tried to find the words he wanted but she left him practically speechless. "Thanks, I'm glad you think so," he whispered quietly as the pair entered the rink.

"I don't think I have any surprises for you, unfortunately." She barely had any life that she actually remembered and what she did know wasn't very mysterious or exciting. Anything that was going to surprise him was probably going to surprise her too.
Then they were in the rink and as she looked up to ask him a question, she saw the blazing blush on his cheeks. It made her laugh, soft and sweet, because she had been beginning to think that he was incapable of being embarrassed. It was nice to see that he was still capable of showing that kind of emotion and, well, she did enjoy the tables being turned at least a little bit.
"Of course I do," she said softly and squeezed his hand, stroking her thumb across the back of it gently. Then, sure that he didn't want to dwell on his own embarrassment, she looked up and around the rink trying to find somewhere that they could get ice skates from. She hadn't done it before to her knowledge, but she was pretty sure this wasn't going to work with just their regular shoes. "What do we do now?" she asked finally, frowning as she continued to glance around in search of some kind of booth or.. something.

To be honest, though it had been his idea in the first place, Chase had kinda sorta forgotten that they had come to the outdoor rink to ice skate. Instead he was preoccupied with how happy and pleased his date appeared to be. He loved the way he face lit up when she smiled and the little crinkle at the corner of her eyes whenever she laughed. Frankly being with her, and knowing everything about the date was going great, made him feel like he was on cloud nine.
"I'm sure you have more surprises than you realize," he mumbled softly his amber eyes softening as he leaned forward. Suddenly, as she asked her question, he stood up straighter and looked almost startled. "Oh, right. Um, this way," he stumbled over his words turning away from her and leading her towards the rental booth.
"Just tell them the size, I skate with hockey skates because that's what I learned on but figure skates provide better stability for your ankles," he explained before telling the girl his own size and grabbing his skates. "You might not remember how to ice skate but you'd be surprised what your body does."

Kaia smiled up at him as he fumbled over his words and carefully led the way to the booth she hadn't known to look for. She found it endearing when his smooth facade faded and he showed that he could be just as unsure and nervous as she felt. She just squeezed the hand she was holding in her own and following him in silence, glancing around at the couples and the scenery as they passed.
Then they were at the booth and he was giving her a quick lesson in the how-tos of iceskating. She supposed that all made perfect sense so she simply followed his lead and told the woman her size. Then she sat down next to him on the little bench provided for putting shoes on. The one thing she was ultimately glad for was that the shoes were pretty self explanatory. At least she didn't have to ask how to put them on.
"I'm not surprised by anything my body remembers anymore," she said, hunching over to begin lacing up the skates, "I just kind of wish it would tell my brain about it beforehand." She smiled at her own silly joke and sat back to look at her finished lacings. Then she turned her head to look at him, obviously not quite sure about how she was supposed to start this all out. He had been a pretty good teacher so far, right?

"There's always a surprise just around the corner," he replied tugging on his laces to tighten them. "I bet," he commented looking up thoughtfully. He often wondered what it would be like to lose your memory and to rediscover what you did and didn't know. From the look on her face, it was an unpleasant experience, but he wasn't sure he ever thought otherwise.
"Be carefully when you walk," he warned standing then extending his hand out to her. "It's a little hard to balance on the blades but once you're on the ice, it'll be smooth sailing," he explained walking towards the entrance. "You can hold on to me as long as you need to, but you basically slide your feet back and forth to gain momentum," he paused turning towards her. "Eventually, as you get the hang of it you can pick your feet up a bit and it'll give you more control, it just takes a little bit of practice and the ability to be willing to fall."
He stepped on to the ice, pulling her behind him.

She stood when he did and put her hand in his when he gestured for it. She soaked his words up, her eyes watching his brighter ones, and as he began to lead her out onto the ice she didn't hesitate to follow him - not once. She was giving him her trust and that was something that didn't always come easily. After everything so far, he had earned it.
It was awkward at first as she set her feet on the ice and tried to imagine what he was explaining to her. Finding that his explanation was a little lacking for her watch-and-learn brain, her eye fell instead to his feet and studied the way he was moving them. She imitated him, awkwardly at first, but within the span of a few minutes she already seemed more confident about it.
She already knew she'd done this before.
Her hand stayed in his though, even as she found the easy grace of propelling herself across the ice. She squeezed it with a little laugh and shook her head at herself, surprised and not all at once. She didn't know if she'd ever done this well, or if it was more than just something she'd done for fun, but to her it was like riding a bike. Sure, she could fall if she pushed her boundaries, but the important part was that she knew she could get back up and succeed.
"This isn't so hard," she said with a laugh, a mischievous undertone laced through. She didn't have to tell him, he could probably see for himself, and the inside joke her words held were amusing at least to her.

Chase didn't have to look at her to know that she was getting the hang of it, even before she told him so. He could tell by the fact that he wasn't the one pulling her along but rather that she was propelling herself forward with a grace that surprised him. When she spoke he did look towards her, grinning like a proud parent at her skating. "Something told me you had done this before," he teased picking up his speed just a tad before letting her hand fall from his briefly as he skated ahead.
Once he was a few feet from her, he spun in a circle to face her. He waited until she was closer before he began to skate backwards, he remembered when he had first learn to do so. It was difficult but in the end he sorta preferred it. As he moved backwards he held both his hands out to her.
Most of the other skaters had filtered off, leaving the two of them alone in the entire rink, save for one or two employees. "We've got this place as long as we want it," he told her.
He liked being alone with her, or rather he just liked spending the time with her. Whenever she wanted to go, he'd go.
