Found PurposeRed Velvet got up early and traveled downstairs to the kitchen, deciding to fill her morning baking some pastries for her mom.
She gathered her utensils, set up her station, and turned on the tv, taking care on lowering down the volume so it doesnt wake up her mom. She heard that a phony was talking about making cakes for a certain event as she gathered her ingredients, letting the tv drone on. She grabbed her basics to make a cake, Red Velvet mixing batter (of course!), but when she reached for the icing....there were no colorful ones, only white icing. "Huh?"
She went to the pantry and saw no back ups, then went back to the cupboard, hoping to see some food dye and saw....none. "Well shoot." She whispered angrily as she took the white frosting and thunk it down with the other ingredients. What was she suppose to do now? Red velvet is colorful cake and she preferred to make the icing colorful too.....but she is stuck with this white icing and it is just gonna be.....plain.
She rested her chin on her hoof, thinking on what to do when something white flashed on the tv. Turning she saw a baker using white icing too. She scooted closer in order to hear what he had to say.
"....using the icing to create a draping pattern on the wedding cake would give it a nice touch..."
Wedding cake?!
An idea struck. She could try making a wedding cake. Of course there was no wedding but it doesn't hurt to try.
Red Velvet made the 3 tiers of red velvet cake, layered the cake, and finished the crumb coating. Going back to the tv, she watched the baker use the draping technique again, copied, then saw him make bows, and copied. Soon Red Velvet wasnt looking at the tv anymore and started to get a feel of the cake. She added lace work at the bottom and little dollops of icing to the top.
Yet, it still bothered her that her cake was lacking color.... An idea struck her when she remembered some flowers are edible! She went outside with scissors and a basket, and cut off three perfect roses from her mom's garden.
Rushing back, she then gentle dried the flowers, took off the green parts and then arranged them on top.
Stepping back, she smiled at her work. It filled her with overwhelming joy to create something so simple yet beautiful. Hearing a small cry, she turned and saw the couple on the tv gushing at their beautiful wedding cake on their big day. Seeing the joy on the baker's face, she decided then and there, that's what she wanted to do. To bake delicious and beautiful cakes, and give them to couples who started a life together.
She wanted to be a wedding baker.
She then took a picture of her cake and send it to Cossi and post it online. then carefully, she packed up her cake and hoofed it to her Momma's place to show her.
In her excitement, she failed to notice the cutie mark covering her flank...
