Merit directed a light buffet with the tip of her tail against Raphael's shoulder. "Now Raph, ya know I was never one for those pretty speeches. I'd bore myself t' death if I had to speak like you or Galahad. Might be you're scarin' off all the potential new members," she directed back, voice and face so cheerful it would have been impossible for a more sensitive fox than Raphael to get upset with her. As it was anyone who knew the vixen knew she just enjoyed the art of playful teasing.
She looked down at Ariel and gave her a slow wink, still grinning cheerfully, and said, "I agree with Raph though, it's already gettin' kinda warm out. The heat don't bother me none, but I was born in warmer lands." Merit stretched in a fashion as lazy as her speech, but when her turned to trot back into the cover of trees her movements had the quick grace one associated with deer.

"Oh...." She looked between the two foxes and smiled softly, "If you wouldn't mind sharing your food...I would be more then happy to repay the kindness at the earliest possibility." She inclined her head, "You both have been so gracious already...I can truly never thank you for the hospitality that you have shown me today." She shook out her fur as she looked up at the sun. It didn't particularity bother her, but her stomach was rather hungry and now that Raph had mention the idea of food her stomach decided to rumble loudly.
"If you would please lead the way...I would be happy to follow the pair of you." Ariel smiled brighter still.

"I think it is you that scares them away," Raphael teased backk as Merit moved back to their home. He chuckled and shook his head fondly, then looked back down Ariel. "This way, then," he smiled. "And do not worry about repaying the favor. You're a guest, we're happy to share."
The long-hair Phim moved inland, easily finding his way through the trees and keeping at a pace that Ariel could follow.

"Must be th' accent. Had you up a tree for a week b'fore you'd come down," Merit drawled. She gave a short laugh, stretching a bit to relax muscles that were falling into the "standing-still" positions, and nodded in agreement with Raphael's statement.
"It's only right t' share with others. Never saw much sense in clingin' t' stuff t' keep all fer yerself. Havin' plenty don't bring ya happiness less you got someone t' enjoy it with ya, t' my way of thinkin'," Merit said, face thoughtful. She glanced down at Ariel. "If y're insistin' though I'm sure we c'n always find the odd job or two fer ya. Every set o' willin' paws is welcome!"

((I've got it now, I was just waiting on Aria to be certed~)) "It is not polite to make up lies about Raphael, Merit," Galahad's serene, distant voice came from the trees. The ice-blue male stepped into sight, as poised as always...but he was not alone. A bright pink kit stayed near his feet as she followed him.
"Raphael, Merit, this is Aria. I encountered her at the borders. As she has no home of her own, I have brought her here to be among others in safe shelter. It will be her choice when she reaches adulthood if she wishes to stay."
As he spoke, Galahad's eyes fell on the kit near Raphael. But she was not any young one, he saw intuitively; a permakit, perhaps? Thinking that was the case, he dipped his head slightly. "Greetings, stranger. I see that Merit and Raphael have already shown you the proper courtesy of our tribe. My name is Galahad, and I am Elder of these lands." He have her a small, peaceful smile and looked off into the distance. "Please, do not trouble yourself over repaying our hospitality. It is in our nature to give, and not to expect to receive."
He looked over his shoulder down at Aria. "Come, young one. Introduce yourself, and then I will show you around your new home." He looked at the permakit. "Perhaps you could accompany us?"

Aria's ears flicked in the direction of voices as she followed Galahad through the lush, green land. She smiled tentatively, staying a half step behind the elder who had found her as he gently corrected one of the foxes – Merit, she noted, putting the name to memory. She remember Galahad mentioning they had a carer; perhaps that was her?
There was a kit-sized fox with them, as well, and Aria watched her with curious eyes. She regarded them all that way, her eyes wide with anticipation, as well. Though Galahad had assured her that the others would welcome her, she was still nervous about the ordeal. After all, this was to be her new family, and she wanted to make a good impression. She wanted them to like her.
“Hello,” she said with a musical chirp. “I'm Aria. It's nice to meet you all!” There was a phim as well, and he seemed huge the the bright pink kit. They were all so...so different! Part of her relaxed at the realization, allowing her smile to become more natural as the introductions were exchanged.

Merit chucked. "I was only teasin' Raph, I'm sure he knew I meant no harm in it." She listened while Galahad introduced the bright pink kit at his feet, and then listened more as the kit introduced herself.
"Ooh child, you got yerself a fine set o' pipes! I bet you could spin a fine tune if ya took yer mind to it," she crooned. Merit tended to make note of qualities like that, for one never knew when a bit of extra talent would be needed to help get a job done. A pretty voice would probably quicker soothe babes, old, and sick than her own Southern drawl.

Steelton was perched up in a tree, staying perfectly still so as to better hear his surroundings. He had thought he'd heard some foxes below him, but he couldn't quite tell where their voices were coming from. I do believe this is the only time I have wished for my sight to come to me. Determining whether friend or foe would be quite simpler he mused to himself. Straining to hear the voices, Steelton didn't notice the sound of a squirrel approaching and nearly fell out of his tree when the tip of its tail brushed against his leg. Sighing to himself, he resolved to fly above the treetops and attempt to find the source of the voices again. It had been so long since he had been in the presence of foxes.
It was a good few minutes before Steelton's sharp ears picked up the sound of voices again, particularly a small, sweetly high pitched one. He circled around, hoping his shadow wasn't causing too much attention before landing on a rock that was, he hoped, a good distance away from the talking foxes. He could hear their conversation clearly now, but their scents were closer than he had originally thought. A southern drawl reached his ears, which seemed quite strange to him. He was certain he had found his way further north....

"Oh.....It is a pleasure to meet you Galahad...." Ariel smiled at him, the cocked her head to the side as she spotted the bright pink kit. Ariel made a happy noise in the back of her throat. Even if that little one wasn't a permakit, it was still nice to be around someone that was her size. "Hello....I am Alatariel....but please call me Ariel." She looked up at the Elder and bowed her head to him. "And I would be honored if you showed me around the lands. I profess to having a curious nature, and your lands intrigues me My lord." The green and red perma chuckled to herself. "I don't remember the last time I was this talkative."
She walked over closer to the group and smiled at the kit, "Would you mind terribly if I came along on your tour. I have to admit that getting the chance to be around another kit puts a smile on my face, but I in no way want to intrude on your time with the Elder."

The general reaction was almost immediate and reassuring. Aria smiled at the tawny vixen's exclamation. It might have been hard to tell under such vibrantly colored fur, but the kit was fairly close to blushing at the compliment. If social interaction was hard forher to come by before now, compliments were much more scarce.
“Thanks Merit,” she said almost sheepishly. “I don't think I've ever thought about it before.” Was it something she was supposed to have thought of before now? Aria had absolutely no idea. Even if she did, it was set aside for a later time as the other kit-make a noise of delight.
“Okay then, Ariel,” she said with a nod. It was a pretty name, Aria thought. She smiled and shook her head. “No, I don't mind at all. It's up to Galahad if it's too much, so if he's okay with it, then I am too.” She was more relaxed by this point, her voice giving way to her emotions much as one might expect a highly expressive fox's face or eyes to. Her tail flicked back and forth with anticipation. There was something different about Ariel than herself; something in the way she spoke and composed herself. Or maybe Aria had just been away from other kits for too long. It piqued her curiosity, but she had the manners to stay quiet for now. “It'll be fun to have someone else!”

Galahad hardly notced the ensuing conversation; he had sharp ears despite his habit of drifting off into thought, and he could tell there was something else nearby. Reminding himself that becoming tesne would solve nothing, the male loosened his shoulders and turned his head to look at his scout.
"Raphael," he said calmly. The othe rmale needed no further intruction; Galahad could tell he had the noise too, sensed the same thing. Once the Modiphim had taken to the skies, he turned his attention again to the females of his tribe.
"Please, Ariel, I am no Lord," he reassured the permakit with a small smile. He was uncomfortable with any honorary titles beyond Elder, and even that he only accepted because it was standard too. "We are equals in the eyes of Modeities, I would have it no other way."
He looked back to Aria, and nodded. "Then the three of us will go together. Merit, as Raphael is occupied, will you please see to it that we have enough shelter for our new guests?"
It took mere seconds for Raphael to be high above the treeline. While he didn't sense anything of ill intent nearby, they couldn't be too careful right now. Their tribe was new; they were still vulnerable. Easily catching a drift in the current, Raphael let the wind carry him as he scanned the ground near his home.
A flash of gray caught his attention. At first it seemed to merely be a voulder, but some of the gray didn't quite blend in. Descending closer to the earth, he noticed that it was...he wasn't entirely sure. He had never seen a creature like this. Reminding himself to be cautious, the Phim landed in the treeline above the gray creature and investigated further.
Feathers, a collar, horns...could this be a Guardian? He had heard of them in stories, but never met one before. Whatever it was, it did not seem to be there to cause harm. He decided to venture to start a conversation.
"Greetings, stranger," he called out.

Ariel blushed as she looked at the Elder. It was so strange for her to meet someone of such a high status, she didn't want to be thought of as a fool around him. "I apologize Elder....I was....trying to show the high respect that I hold you in." She smiled at him, then bowed her head. She would just stick to calling him Elder as her form of showing respect. "Merit..." She looked over at the fellow vixen, she talked a little funny but Ariel didn't have a problem with that. In fact it really amused her, Ariel could sit and listen to the vixen talk for hours just to hear the accent.

Steelton heard the rustle of wings nearby, but thought for a moment that it was nothing more than a sparrow flitting about nearby. He could swear he had heard the word 'Elder' said, and besides, he thought he remembered correctly that his coat color was very close to the color of stones he had seen before. As he was about to slide himself closer to the conversation in progress when he heard a voice from above.
Jumping to his feet, he whipped around and lowered himself, spreading his wings to fly away as quickly as possible. He hesitated though, seeing as he was being spoken to and not attacked immediately. He slowly let his wings fold as he answered the voice, saying warily "I do hope I'm not intruding on anything important, I was simply trying to find a place to rest for a time."

"Do not trouble yourself over it, Ariel," Galahad reassure the permakit. "Merit is a good example of the fact that we do not expect formalities all the time." He gave his carer a small smile to show that he was, in fact, teasing her, then turned his attention to Aria.
"Then the three of us will go together," he nodded. "Come here little one, so we can finish this tour and give you the rest I am sure you need."
Raphael made sure not to flinch as the larger creature reacted with surprise. As his tribe's first line of defense, he had to make sure he didn't show weakness.
Then it talked to him. It had! to be a Guardian! No longer intimidated by its large size, Raphael swung down to the ground and landed a few feet away from it with a dull thump. "No, you are not intruding," he reassured the Guardian. "I apologize for startling you, Guardian, it was not my intention. Greetings to you, I am Raphael, the scout for the Sanctimonia Tribe, whose lands you are currently on."
He eyed the creature curiously, then remembered his manners and averted his eyes to the ground. "Please, you would honor us by allowing us to provide you shelter while you rest. The rest of my tribe, and our Elder, are not very far away."

Merit fluttered her eyelashes at Galahad. "Aw, Elder, you sure know how ta say things that make a girl blush. Ya best be takin' care, or else every eligable maiden in the area's gonna be setting their hat for you."
She wasn't including herself in the count though, and she was sure Galahad knew that as well and would spot the teasing. After all, Merit hadn't made secret the fact that she prefered her own gender when it came to love.
"Well I'll let ya get all caught up with each other while I go make sure we've got enough space cleared for our guests. Might even clear and extra spot, just in case Raph brings back a guest of his own." A grin and wink, and Merit whisked off ahead of the others.
