Although other people have made similar comments, I will further elaborate on how people usually do not question their beliefs. It is every one not just religious people, who fail to question their beliefs. We rarely have reason to think that alternate ideas to our own might be better. If we questioned literally everything, it would slow us down a lot. It makes life easier to just use leaps of faith and fuzzy logic.

Not even the thing that is said to be based on questioning, Science itself, is free from frequent lack of questioning, and it gets even worse in the schools where things are taught as truths, that later may be defined false ...
Point in case: Pluto.
However, the place where un-questioning probably has wreaked the most havoc, is really in politics ...
To bring it partially back to religion, that is often accused of replacing politics, then i ask, what is ideologies but religions in disguise?
What is politics but religion in disguise?
