Dialga settled down and tucked her head down against the ground so Lancelot had complete access to the annoying briars. Her back twitched when she first felt his breath against her fur, causing a ripple from her neck down to her tail.
This was quite a new experience. Despite the wet garment he still wore, and now she knew he was orange all over, she could feel his body heat now that he was so close and she could feel her cheeks tint ever so slightly. She winced a few times when he picked one out that was super tangled but otherwise it was painless and she turned her head up to thank him, only to stop when she came face to face with him. "Uh...thanks..."
"How come you didn't chase!....me..." Shani poked her head up over the top of the hill, irritation transforming into a saucy little smirk on her face. "Ooooooo, what'cha doooooin?"

Lancelot could feel her body heat radiating off of her as he plucked the prickly objects from her fur. His own body heat seemed to rise in response despite him trying to act as neutral as possible.
When her eyes were suddenly before his own, Lancelot tensed in surprised with a slightly shocked and embarrassed look on his face. "No problem." He replied, "It was my... pleasure to assist."
As Shani poked her head over the tall grass, Lancelot took a few steps backwards from Dialga to face Shani in full. "Nothing of great importance."

Dialga sighed and got to her feet. "Child, you know as well as I that a game of tag would have been short lived. Why don't you go back to the others and ask one of them to play? You've tired me out already". She ignored the pouty look on the other gladier's face and motioned with her paw.
Shani pouted but what Dialga said made sense. At least her other friends wouldn't run out of energy so fast! "Fine, old lady" she teased and sprinted off towards home.
She just always had to have the last word. With one last shake of her head she turned back to Lancelot and smiled apologetically. "I apologize for her" she said and picked up his jacket, shaking it gently to make sure it wasn't harmed while she tried to get the grasses off it. "Here you are".

Lancelot silently observed the two as he tried to slow down his heart. Being face to face with Dialga left a feeling in the pit of his stomach that he couldn't identify. And it irked him.
"No need." Lancelot replied with a small smile. "Thank you."
The jacket fortunately did not pick up any grass stains; horrid things to get out of silk. "Will she be okay finding the others by herself?"

Dialga sat and watched the pink gladier grow smaller and smaller until she couldn't be seen anymore. Only when Shani was out of sight did she turn back to Lancelot and take his question into consideration. "Yes. I'll hear about whatever adventures she has along the way but eventually she will make it back to the others".
She turned back to him and smiled, noticing that he now had briars on his coat. "Hold still", she told him and gently pulled the annoyance off, being careful to not damage the fabric.

"That's comforting to hear." Lancelot chuckled as he held still for Dialga. "Thank you. I hope you don't mind if I say again, but it's quite pleasurable to be in your company. Thank you for gracing me with your... presence."
If, when Dialga leaves, Lancelot would no doubt miss her presence. Then, he realized, he didn't want her to leave. He barely knew her, but he liked her enough to ask her to stay with him. He could already hear her rejection. She had friends and family, and no one in the right mind would leave that. He wouldn't.
Lancelot chewed on his lower lip, deep in thought, as he felt the gentle tugs at his clothing as they foliage was removed.

Diagla dropped the last briar back into the grass and licked her lips to get rid of the prickly sensation. "Hm, I'm no grace. Just a lowly commoner that wandered into your kingdom", she joked and mock-bowed. Truth be told she was enjoying this time with him and she frowned as she thought of having to go back and deal with the group. A couple days vacation wouldn't be too bad.
Noting that he had grown silent she sat down next to him and left him to his thoughts as she watched the sun begin to set.

He gave Dialga a warm smile as she laughed and joked around. "A kingdom without people is just an empty field." He muttered to himself half joking, half serious. Should he ask her? It's not like he had anything to lose.
"Though it's beautiful. Something that I believe should be shared with someone." He paused, gathering his courage. "Would you like to stay here, at least for a little while?"

"That may be, but an empty field usually doesn't have a caring individual willing to look over everything", she frowned and nudged his shoulder as he put himself down.
Dialga blinked and turned her head to look over at him, slightly shocked that he asked her to stay. The offer was very tempting, but that responsible part of her mind just wouldn't let her say yes right away. Who would keep the younger girls safe from Cuan and keep Shani and Crimson out of trouble? But why did she have to be the responsible one all the time? The others had Nisha at least. Mind made up she smiled up at Lacelot a bit shyly. "Are you sure you don't want Shani to stay too?" she teased.

It was more comforting than he could ever imagine, having someone to push aside his worries and doubts. He felt his eyes widen at the feeling when Dialga comforted him.
A warm smile, a sad yet such a hopeful smile graced Lancelot's face. "Thank you. And I have to say... she's quite endearing... kind of. Your friend I mean." And you. He thought silently. "So... is that a yes I hear?"

(( I feel like this would be a good place to close this, unless you would like to go on. o uo ))
Dialga was speechless for a second then snorted and began to laugh. "I wasn't being completely serious about Shani. Though if you'd really like her to stay then I could get her back here. Just don't be offended if she winds up bored every five minutes," she warned and lay down on the grass completely.
"Your ears are not playing tricks on you, that is what you hear". Grabbing on to the ruffle of his sleeve gently with her mouth she tugged, wanting him to relax and lay down next to her.

It was hard to cover the sound of relieve from leaving his mouth, but somehow he did it. It's not that he didn't like Shani... but she was someone who would require Lancelot to go out of his comfort zone to truly befriend. It wasn't something he was ready for.
Gently tugged by Dialga, he lied down on the soft grass, no longer caring about his coat. She had said yes. Well, in a way. "I am glad. Very much so." His smile was no longer tugged down and his body relaxed, loosening from the tension he didn't know he built up.
So he lied with her, staring at the hills, the sunset, and the rising of the moon. He finally had someone.
The End
