“Usi, yes…” Tihrak said, looking somewhat distracted by the girl who had diverted his attention.

“Oh! I like the way you think, my friend.” The young hound smiled as he nodded his approval, not at all bothered by the fact that he had been caught ignoring his new acquaintance quite so obviously. Well, it was for a good reason, right?

“Then, let’s go introduce ourselves.” And in doing so, they’d exchange their own names as well. Tihrak stepped closer to the pretty pale hound with a wide smile. “Hello, miss. Would you allow us to escort to the fountain? It would give me great pleasure to do so. I’m Tihrak, from Babylon.”

"And I'm Omari from Cairo," Omari filled in and bowed his head, "It's a pleasure to meet you."

He allowed Tihrak to take the lead while he picked up his stick. The other hound had spotted her first, after all... And if his absent date should stumble upon them in the crowd he could always explain away this pretty female as his friends date. Ah, perhaps this day wouldn't turn out so bad after all... Omari was a social hound and he enjoyed spending time with friends, new or old. And he wasn't one to complain if some of the company happened to be pretty and female.

"No, no, my dear," he said eagerly, as he stood nearer to her, in attempt to encourage her into the water. "Just one paw simply won't do! You must dip your whole body and wade...." he stopped, again not remembering the correct tally, "Some number of times."

When she seemed not want to go into the water, in fear of the slaves he was quick to say, "Oh no! They wouldn't let those things in...those creatures don't feel love anyway. Here, perhaps if I go first you would be more encouraged."

He stood on the edge, teetering in his resolve, when she spoke of a teastand. In that moment, Nappa went to turn and went to step at the same time, managing to make a huge splash as he fell into the water entirely.

Halimah started a little in surprise at being suddenly addressed. She had been so absorbed in inhaling the delicious scents of a nearby cookie shop that she had been completely unaware that anyone was approaching her.

She turned her head, lavender eyes wide for a moment as she took in the sight of two very handsome hounds, one with sky blue eyes and a wonderfully friendly smile, and one who looked very strong and stylish wearing a red cape. Her surprise immediately dissipated into a beaming smile.

"Oh!" She dipped her head in a demure greeting, without taking her eyes off of the two males - they really did look quite handsome, both of them. "I am Halimah, also from Cai...ro." She hesitated only for an instant, and her eyes grew slightly worried for a second as she glanced at the caped hound - Omari, was it? - hoping she wouldn't see any sort of change in him. How thoughtless of her. Here was another hound from Cairo, and there was no telling what he might and might not know about her terrible embarrassment... perhaps it would have been better to try to affect a different name here, or at least claimed to be from another city... but no. Deceit was not in Halimah, she knew at least that much of herself. And it hadn't been a very big affair, surely it hadn't. Not exactly common knowledge throughout Cairo. She really shouldn't worry so, it wasn't as though the whole world concerned themselves only with her little meaningless troubles.

She reconquered her smile and straightened up again. "Omari and... Tihrak, was it? So pleased to make your acquaintance, and thank you, I do wish to see the fountain, and" - here she blushed slightly, something that was quite obvious especially in the lowering and slow swaying of her tail - "Unless I'm imposing, I would not say no to a bit of company."

It never struck Halimah that when encountering a couple of strangers in a strange city for the very first time, the first thing one should do would probably not be to hint that she was quite unaccompanied.

“Lovely!” Tihrak proclaimed quite happily, taking the pretty lady’s side with a small bow of his head. “You are most certainly not imposing.”

He then turned to look at the other Hound, a small grin showing his amusement at finding his name through the indirect introduction. Out of the corner of his eye, for a brief moment he saw a slave that looked remarkably familiar, maybe even similar to one of his own. However, focused as he was, the young Hound completely dismissed it as a figment of his imagination and quickly swept it from his mind.

“A pleasure to meet you as well, Omari. Two for Cairo then. I hope I can be a good representative of my new city. I’m originally from Giza and just recently moved.” He laughed, completely at ease as always, looking around for anything that might catch his attention amongst the stands and decorations. “They do apply themselves every year. This place looks amazing as usual. Halimah, would you like something to eat?”

Omari returned Tihrak's grin, very pleased at this turn of events. He flanked the female, making sure to keep some distance between them since she seemed a bit skittish all of a sudden. She might be used to a wider personal space and he didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable by standing too close. It wasn't very practical to walk next to each other in a crowd like this, but he was certain he could convince most slaves not to get in their way. It usually didn't take more than a prod from his stick to get a cat to move, and most moved before he even had to nudge them with it.

"Ah, Giza must be nice this time of year," he said, "Why did you decide to move to Babylon."

Omari didn't mind some company at all and found it endearing that this lady seemed to feel embarrassed for asking to join them. However, Tihrak was doing a great job keeping the conversation going so he just smiled to try to ease her mind further.

Haqikah's attempt at diverting Nappa's attention from the fountain to the tea stand was sort of successful, but she was not prepared for what happened next. Since her "date" had pushed her closer to the edge of the water she didn't stand a chance when he made his big splash. She hadn't dipped a paw but she was almost completely drenched and her jaw worked silently for a few moments before she was able to find her words again.

"You got my ears wet," she shrieked. Ah, perhaps not the most eloquent response, but she really meant every word.

(short tag... I might be MIA or at least unable to tag for a while. Feel free to skip Omari in the post order and just pretend he's silent if you'd like to continue in a faster pace.)
