I like a theory I heard a while ago (and paraphrasing it here).

In one of the first episodes, after being attack by spearow, and getting hit by thunder?(not sure) Ash fell into a coma. It explains why he never ages, among other things.


There is a giant (albeit poorly written) essay on that very subject. Not so much a powerful literary work, but rather a giant mind****
