Ayreon was seated at Daedalus's right side, surveying the area and the other foxes. They looked like a good group, and for that she was glad. She hadn't meant to join his tribe, or any for that matter. The thought of being so... restricted... She couldn't stand it. But Daedalus had promised otherwise. She would still have the freedom to travel the world, even though he would be stuck on and around this mountain. It was the life he chose, though, and Ayreon knew he would never regret it. Daedalus had a passion for knowledge, acquiring it, spreading it, anything. And this tribe he had suddenly formed offered all of this and more.

So she joined. For him and for herself. It was a win-win, really. And today would be her first day even meeting anyone else in the tribe.

There were only a few things Adonis knew about this new tribe that he had decided to join in order to be with Tithe. One, he really liked the concept. Two, he had better get used to all of those caves in order to avoid getting lost when Tithe isn't around. Three, the mountain was huge, the Labyrinth was huge, every fox's brain seemed to be pretty huge. And lastly... That vixen... HAD to be related to him somehow... Adonis stared, wondering. There was no way they weren't. No one but his own father had that exact same swirly pelt. Was she... one of Caelan's mothers? Or sister? Half-sister, even, since there was no trace of red on her pelt.

He glanced at Tithe, then back at the strange vixen. "Do you know who that is?" He whispered to her. "Is it just me, or do we look... kind of similar?" Was it also just him, or did he feel sad that he didn't know his own family very well? Even if this strange vixen wasn't close family, he had still never met any of his father's relatives, besides his Aunt Aruna and her children. And that was only because they had grown up on the same tribe. Everyone else he had only ever heard of.

Maeve was much more discreet in her own examination of the boy. There was no doubt about it. He had to be an offspring of Caelan's. He looked so much like his father, down to the red crescent moon above his front leg. Her son must have found a rather interesting vixen to mate with, judging by the hair. It made Maeve sad to realize that she had never met her own son's mate and children.

And yet, she had met this boy's mate. She noticed easily the way he was with Tithe. They were so familiar with each other, and he had arrived with her and probably joined for her. Maeve had no idea Tithe was even mated. But then, she had taken a bit of time off from the tribe herself, recently, so if could have just happened then. Just then, Daedalus put an end to her thoughts with his words.

Daedalus smiled, his eyes passing over each fox before him in turn. In truth, they weren't so large in number, but the Elder-to-be was still pleasantly surprised by the amount of foxes gathered before him. It was all about perception, after all, and never in Daedalus's wildest dreams had he expected such a following. Considering the fact that forming a tribe hadn't even been the fox's original intent, anyone would be equally shocked. Then again, simply being here didn't mean that the fox was interested in joining. Official member or not, Orestes was open to all foxes that sought instruction on many different subject matters.

And the first order of business was for each fox to learn the names of all the others. That's what this meeting was about, as well as making sure everyone was well acquainted with the lands. The Labyrinth was a tricky place after all, and Olympus itself was only safely accessible through one path; right through Mt. Ilithyia's system of caverns.

After waiting a good amount of time, Daedalus cleared his throat. "I'm glad, truly, that you have all joined here, not just because I have called this meeting but because you are all interested in the Orestes Tribe," he began. "It means a lot to me. And since it appears to mean a lot to all of you as well, I would like everyone to get to know each other better. Many of you are new here, as we are a fairly new establishment, and we must learn to depend upon and in turn help one another, which is easiest to do once we all know each other on a level more intimate than simple acquaintances."

Not being a very social fox, Dervla sat close enough to hear when the meeting was starting but not close enough to make casual conversation while waiting. Instead she used the pre-meeting time to observe her fellow tribe mates to be. There were a few new faces to her but seeing how she had taken time away from the tribe to sort out issues with her daughter, this wasn't surprising.

Dervla made a mental note of the resemblance of one of the newer members to Maeve. She wondered if they were related in some way but decided it was not her place or the time to ask and would look into it later. The curious vixen also made a note to ask (so that she didn't just assume) and congratulate Daedalus on finding a mate.

Completely lost in her thoughts, Dervla almost didn't realize that Daedalus had already started the meeting. Quietly, she crept forward to join the group and focus on the rest of her elders message.

Her mates voiced interrupted her thoughts. Tithe had been worried, had, that her mate would not like this tribe. Yet, he seemed content now. Tilting her head towards him, the vixen flicked her right ear once, glancing at the direction he seemed to be looking. Head tilting, she looked back at Adonis, comparing them.

"That is Maeve." She hadn't compared them until now, it hadn't dawned on her when she first stumbled upon Adonis. Now, she felt silly when she remembered how possessively she had draped her tail around her mate when Maeve and some of the other vixens came near. Such a silly thing now.

"She does. Perhaps, after the meeting, I can ask for you if she is related to your parents?" The vixen glanced at her Elder, ear flicking once when he spoke. Briefly, she pressed into Adonis. Ever since they had become mates she had started to show slight signs of affection, though, they were slight. She did become jealous at times, this much even Adonis had to notice. And when they were alone, well, she was far more warm to him.

User Image Oh Anatolia was so embarrassed. She had remembered there was a meeting today really. She was actually looking forward to it since she really hadn’t gotten to know the tribe to well. In fact she didn’t really know any one ever since joining but the caves had been so interesting and she had gotten a bit too absorbed in exploring them. Then she had to leave the tribe because her siblings where all having babies.

Of course that made her a little depressed as she wanted kids of her own, but then it was pretty hard to when she didn’t even have a mate. She had met a good friend and Anatolia liked her but her friend was part of a different tribe a long ways away. However like a good tribe member she returned and went back to finding fascinating things like those colony of bats. Ugh well maybe not the best tribe member considering she was running late, last time she was oversleeping again. Serious.

Daedalus took a pause in his speech and glanced around the area; Anatola had just arrived. He sent her a reassuring smile, not at all angry at her for being late. "Well," he continued, "I could have us all go in a circle and say our names and tribe positions, but I won't. Instead, we feast." Daedalus stepped out of the way to reveal quite the spread of assorted meat and berries all lined up on the flat rock that lay behind him.

Prior to the meeting, Daedalus had gathered Ayreon and Maeve to hunt and then carried everything up the mountain between themselves. Together they had even brought down a stag just for the feast. Besides venison, the three foxes had also caught a number of rabbits, assorted birds, and had gathered some of the ripest berries they found.

"I hope each and every one of you will find something to your liking," he said, "and I do encourage you to mingle as we all eat." With that, the Elder ended his speech and moved away to allow everyone else access to the food.

Daedalus turned to Ayreon for a moment, grinning at her slightly. "How was that?" He asked so that only she could hear.

"Sounded like something only an Elder would say," Ayreon replied with a smile of her own.

"Coming from you that sounds like you're calling me unoriginal," Daedalus said, feigning hurt. Unable to keep a straight face for long, they both laughed for a short time. Daedalus nudged Ayreon away from him. "Go away," he said. "Talk to someone you don't know for once."

Ayreon just smiled and shook her head as she walked away at her Elder's request. At times that fox seemed hardly mature enough to be an Elder. But what did that mean, really? Just that he knew how to lighten up, as he should. Ready to take his advice, Ayreon looked around for a fox to talk to. There was one: black, beautiful white swirls, a tiny bit of red around her pelt. Ayreon approached her.

"Hello there," she greeted the other vixen simply. "My name is Ayreon."

As Daedalus ended his speech and allowed everyone to head toward the food, Maeve was practically the first there, since she had been sitting so close. She took a single rabbit from the pile and dragged it off, content to eat and watch the others for a bit. Of course, 'the others' basically consisted of Tithe and her mate. Maeve wondered if they would approach. He must be curious, and Maeve doubted that he knew exactly how they were related. Caelan must have a rather large family by now, after all, and the possibilities were endless.

As she sat, Maeve's eyes wandered. Dervla was sitting off on her own as well, but Ayreon had decided to approach the one other vixen that Maeve had never met. She would leave them to that, then. She knew Daedalus had strongly suggested everyone take the initiative to go around introducing themselves, but... Maeve wanted to wait until all of the other foxes took the initiative instead.

Out of respect, Adonis waited until after the Elder finished speaking before he responded to Tithe. He just stood there listening, allowing Tithe to press against him; he was comfortable this way. Once Daedalus had ended his speech, he turned to look down at Tithe. "If you wouldn't mind asking her, then sure," he finally responded to her suggestion from earlier. "Might as well, anyways, as we should be going around and meeting everyone."

Just then, his stomach growled slightly. The thought and sight of the stag may have made him a bit hungry. "Well, first shall we get some food?" He asked. "What are you in the mood for?"

Anatola gave out a sigh of relief as she got a smile from the elder. It wasn’t as if she thought she would be in too much trouble but it was a bit embarrassing when the one chance you got to see the rest of the tribe and you slept in. Luckily it looked as if nothing had started. However she did feel a bit guilty that she hadn’t gotten to help gather everything.

She looked around taking in everything and everyone in her tribe before she noticed the Female that the elder had been talking to had walked over. “Ayreon… that’s a nice name. It’s nice to meet you I’m Anatolia” She smiled.

A fresh start. Yes, that was exactly what the neon 'daeva needed.

Alone had grown too lonely, and despite what seemed like eons of self-imposed exile and solitude she missed...company. Once, she had something like a tribe, but they could be described as a 'bad crowd'. They weren't always the heros of the story. And she had been content with that, for a long time it was even...fun. But she had tuned from them...either due to a certain softness growing in her heart, or her friends sinking to all new lows.

No, those days were over. It was time to let the past remain the past. To turn her life around. At first she merely wanted to be alone, lest the demons reappeared...but she wasn't afraid anymore. Now...now she wanted to help others, not harm them. But Nimue surprised even herself when she chose to join a tribe.

"I hope each and every one of you will find something to your liking"

She hoped so too as she eyed the elder. Her elder. That would take some getting used to.

And now, here she sat amoung the tribe's members, even some new ones like herself, just a little shy despite herself and hoping that no one would ask too many questions about her heavily-scarred face.

Ayreon returned the smile warmly. "Thank you, Anatola," she responded. "I'm glad you think so. You're name is very pretty as well." Ayreon took a seat where she was before continuing. Her mind, in the mean time, quickly ran through a list of basic conversation topics. Deciding one on, she continued, "I'm curious, Anatola, as to how you found this tribe of Daedalus's, and why you decided to join it? Also, what is your position in the tribe?" Ayreon did sometimes have a bad habit of asking all of her questions at once. But, in her opinion, of which she had many, she had might as well get them all out as soon as possible before she forgets them all while listening to the answers of others.

Daedalus stood for a few seconds, watching Ayreon interact with Anatola, then watching some others slowly start to mingle as well. Some were still alone, such as Maeve, Dervla, and a very new member, a 'Daeva by the name of Nimue. He decided to approach her. Bowing politely to her as he neared, and offering a smile, Daecalus said, "Hello again, Nimue. I hope you are finding everything to your liking so far." He turned to the side for a moment and nodded his head at the display of food. "Please, feel free to take something to eat," he added. "I trust you're not having too much difficulty adjusting to tribe life? I understand how different it must be from what you're used to."

User ImageThere was the faintest of rustling sounds, then a male fox suddenly dropped out of some nearby trees. It almost looked like he was falling, except he landed quietly and gracefully on his feet. His fur was a brindled golds and browns, set in a pattern reminiscent of feathers. It was perfect for blending in.

The male looked around with bright gold eyes. He had an odd piece of fruit in his mouth, and his tail appeared to be wrapped around another such piece. His eyes lit on Daedalus, and he marched over to him, bold as brass.

When Kuari reached the male he set down the fruit as his feet then brought his tail around to reveal not only a second piece of the fruit, but a variety of nuts as well. He looked up into the male's eyes with no trace of hesitation or unsureness.

"Kuari wishes to join your tribe," he said in firm but polite voice. "He is hearing you have many cave dwellers, but not many tree climbers. Kuari is good tree climber, he can teach this skill to others so balance in the tribe." He indicated the food at his feet. "Kuari brings gifts for tribe to show friendly and good hunter. Would bring meat to show even better hunter-," here he glanced off at the pile of food in the gathering, "-but Kuari sees much meat already and does not wish to waste."

Then, hastening to assure, "But Kuari very good hunter is, can bring much kill. Very good climber, and can bring good things from treetops that only winged ones can usually reach."

His gold eyes darted over to the black vixen in the group. "Anatola friend of Kuari's. Good person, and says tribe is good home. So Kuari figures it must be very good, and wants to join to help keep home safe and happy."

((Wasn't sure where they are, but I figured from the trees it was kind of north. The nuts are walnuts and chestnuts, the fruit is pawpaw. Hopefully that was alright ;^^))
