That made her grin. "Take his place? What kind of relationship do you have with him, that would make him think that?" An impish glee lit the vixen's eyes. The question was something she figured she'd be interested in if he answered, and if he took offense well. Lamia did like to spread the occasional bit of negativity here and there.

Sin eyed her, tail flicking to the side, ears moving as he listened to the sound of the creature before grumbling. He couldn't focus with her chittering away. He turned to look at her, head tilting slightly.

"We are half-brothers." He mused, throat grumbling lightly. "Same father. Different mothers. Our father was a cheater. Our mothers didn't know. He abused us. I was abused for not being like one of my brothers, who was deemed perfect. He was abused for being frail and also unlike his other half-brother, who at the time he hadn't even met." He shrugged at this, tensing considerably.

"I killed our father." He mused, laughing darkly. "Then my mother, than his parents after I found out my father had cheated. My siblings ran away at that point, and Yuki was merely a kit. I tried to track them down, kill them, when I met a grey kit. He was bit by a snake, dying, and had scars much like mine. I pitied the kit and took him in. When I found out he was my half-brother I couldn't kill him. At that point he had become family. I had protected him, cared for him, healed him, in return he loved me. I raised him to be strong. I turned him from a weak child into a strong, quick adult. Ever since he has been everything. I raised his mate when his mate was a child, and yet, I do not feel the same for that child as I do for Yuki. I will rip apart the throat of the Devil himself for that one boy."

His tail flicked at this, shrugging as if what he said was useless. "Yuki has been devoted to me as well. We protect one another. He is the only family-member I love. While I may have mended my relation with Runaiu, my half-sister, and tolerate Unia, my other half-sister, I only truly care for Yuki. He feels replaced easily. Though, he should know by now that one day he might need to step back a little, let me care for someone and him at the same time."

Lamia could feel the different emotions rolling off Sin and projecting in the space; she had to hand it to him, he could set a mood. She didn't feel remotely threatened though, let alone frightened like most foxes would be. Nor was she all that curious about some of the stuff he'd revealed. Lamia believed Sin was perfectly capable of killing his parents, though she couldn't quite comprehend the reasons he had given.

"Interesting," she said, instead. "Of course I could speak aloud the conclusions I have drawn from your tale, but-," she shrugged, "-I doubt you'd really care. Or I could be wrong, but in most cases my point of view isn't a most sought after one."

That and no one liked to get into debates about their past. Oh yes, she and Sin were so very much alike....and so very different. It was intriguing. Both with black hearts willing to kill and bask in the glory of their strength and the blood of their enemies, but for different reasons. Sometimes Lamia even questioned if she had a heart at all, for most of her time was spent in a numb, uncaring world, where only the corruption and eventual destruction of everything she knew was a certainty. Caring was a waste of time, for it couldn't save what you cared for and could only destroy the one who cared.

In that Lamia found she almost envied Sin. It had been so long since she'd ever cared about anything.

He shrugged, not caring. Her thoughts were welcomed, it wouldn't change how he felt about his past. "No, speak your conclusions. I'm interested." He mused, tail flicking. He moved closer to her, brushing his tail against hers. Why was he letting her speak to him like this? Why was he allowing this vixen to speak her thoughts to him? He wouldn't tolerate others, save Yuki and perhaps Ixen, and of course their babies.

His tail flicked idly, listening once more to the bushes around him, listening for the creature he had before and also making sure to pay attention if Lamia spoke.

Lamia stood there for a moment, wondering yet again what was it with Sin's apparent ease at touching, and gathered her thoughts. This was something new for her as well, to be even considering using a little tact rather than opening her mouth and blasting away. Really, she hoped she wasn't going (heavens forbid!) soft!

"You are kind," she said, glancing down and to the side a bit. "More than others would realize, I imagine." 'Perhaps more than you yourself realize,' she thought, but didn't say.

"You had reasons for killing your parents, sound ones. You felt pity for a dying kit that you didn't even know, and nursed him back to health. You were capable of forgiveness when you learned who that kit was." She allowed her eyes to rise back up from the ground, though still glanced off to the side.

"I envy you that ability to be kind." That last bit was whispered, so quiet it probably wasn't even meant to be said aloud. Lamia was lost in thought again, thinking that most of her dark past had no real reasons behind them; she would have left a snake-bit kit to die, and even if she'd raised something from a baby she was sure she could have killed such a thing without hesitating. Before that kind of thinking was encouraged, and even now she saw nothing wrong with it. Was it wrong that she saw nothing wrong?

Sin was unsure what to say at this point. Kind? He was kind? His eyes focused on her, narrowing slightly. She had called him kind. She had called him something most would not. His ears flicked, tail lashing for a brief second as the memory of faces he had tore into shreds screamed the word monster at him. He had been a serial killer, did she not realize this? How could one be kind if they were like him?

Yuki.

Yuki had been what calmed him. He had killed and destroyed when he had Yuki, but the day he saw the male with Ixen, the day he saw him smile at the male and nuzzle against him, the day his tribe depended on him was the day Sin wanted to change. Then he lost Cruor, and he felt like spiraling back into that dark haze once more. Yuki and Ixen's children came, and he felt like protecting them once more.

How could he be kind?

"Envy?" He questioned, eyes flicking to Lamia. "I am a selfish man, Lamia." He mused, the smile flickering, almost vanishing. "When I want something I hold onto it. I trapped Yuki, smothered him, I wanted no one to take him from me." What was that flickering in his chest? Guilt? Perhaps. "I tried to chain him down. It wasn't until I lost him, it wasn't until he returned back to me with worry, fear, and pain in his eyes that I realized I wanted to protect my family. And even then, I am selfish. I don't want to have to share my affection, his children are finding mates and I find myself holding myself back from stealing their affection back to only me, Ixen, and Yuki. I am hardly kind. I am possessive."

"Possessiveness is only the dark side of kindness. A trait does not have to be pure and pretty for one to possess it." Lamia looked up now, and wondered just how a hunting trip had turned into a philosophical debate on their personalities.

"Let me ask; how do you see yourself?" Obviously he thought on a negative, and generally Lamia tended to encourage this tend of thinking to drive others further into despair. Again she couldn't say why Sin was different, only that he was.

He paused, considering this before looking at her, black eyes flicking back into the forest, as if he was bored with this conversation. He wasn't, he merely seemed this way. The usually always creepily grinning demon had become quiet and thoughtful, humming for a brief second before looking back at her.

"Broken." He mused lightly, shrugging his trade-mark shrug. "I've killed many people, for enjoyment in the past, and to release anger. Not just my parents, either. I tried to kill one of my sisters and brother. I ended the lives of countless people all to have the pleasure of being in control of someones life, wether it was my own or not. And then I try to harbor some care for family that wasn't my own, and for a brother that was better off not with me." He laughed at this, almost harshly.

"I care for kits, protect them, and then I'd run off to kill their mother. My logic was twisted. Now I try to redeem myself, and am surprised when I am punished for what I've done. Redemption is not easy, and even now I find myself having days where I want to go back to that creature I was."

The corners of Lamia's lips twitched up into something that barely met the standards of being a smile; any smaller and her face would have just been expressionless. It was a kind or pleased smile, for kind was something that just wasn't quite Lamia and her eyes and eyebrows were set wrong for it to be pleased.

Nor was it gloating, malicious, impish, or menacing. Again, her facial expression was just all wrong for those types of emotions to be behind the smile. Rather she looked almost....sad. There was a hint of wistfulness to her face, like a kit sitting outside almost buried in snow and watching the inside of a den with a happy family laughing and warm.

It had been theorized in the past that Lamia was incapable of crying. Even more theories abounded that if the demonic vixen ever did cry, the tears would be of scarlet blood that poured down her face from an act of violence, not from her eyes. After all, how could someone who felt absolutely nothing, neither pain nor emotion, cry? But, even though those pitch-colored eyes of hers were dry and no salt-water stained her fur, for once in life Lamia thought she knew what it must feel like to weep.

She turned away from Sin in an abrupt movement, a movement almost violent in it's abruptness after the still quiet that had fallen over the pair. "Hmph. But that's the difference. You actually want to change, and it sounds like you have changed. That it's hard doesn't take away from it." Lamia was pleased that her voice sounded normal, though her laugh held a touch of bitterness to it. "One who knows he's broken, who sees the wrongs in his life and attempts to atone for it despite that it goes against what everything he's done. His very nature, one might say. Now doesn't that sound so very self-sacrificing, and noble?"

'What a fool,' she thought, and a spasm of pain shot across her face. She was glad she had turned away beforehand; it gave her time to rearrange her expression back to a careful neutral.

He heard her words, and began to piece them together. Was Lamia wishing to change her ways? Or ways it that she wondered what it was like to feel the way he did? He watched her jerk away, and didn't stop himself from moving closer, despite the fact that he was sure if he irked her she would have no problem hurting him in response. No, it was this kind of thinking that hurt people. She might be seen as a monster, as she had said a long time ago, but he didn't feel that way. Strangely, he didn't.

He was unsure what to do, so instead he rested his head on her neck, sighing. "No, it doesn't. Not to me." He mused, shaking his head, resting against her again. "Then again, I've always had a different view of things." He paused, considering what to say. Lamia may be the way she was, but he didn't know what to do. He found himself more...calm around her. More at peace.

Peace, what a silly word.

"I don't care." He grumbled. "About what you did, or hell, what you are going to do." He flicked his tail at this, grumbling again. "I have no room to judge, no room to even say anything. In the end, as long as you don't hurt the people I love, its fine." He wasn't sure what he was getting at here, and he doubted she did either, but he wanted to say it anyway.

"You be who you are, do what you want, be what you want. If you want to change, then I will help you. If you don't, I won't judge you. I'll continue to stay close. Until you force me away, that is."

Lamia's laugh was only a syllable long, a short 'Hah' that was closer to a scoff than a laugh. Certainly the bitter edge still hadn't left. And it irked her that she should even feel bitter, or upset. Why? She never had before, so why should now be any different? Her old clan had been made of monsters as well, so it wasn't because Sin had killer instincts like herself.

Her body stiffened reflexively when Sin laid his head on top of her. Touch just for the simple means of comfort was as foreign to Lamia as tears. "When did we go from talking about you to me," she asked. Maybe it was because all these annoying emotions were clouding her mind, but she really didn't see how he'd made that leap.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 06, 2011 3:53 pm

"When I realized why you were acting different." He mused, laughing darkly, amused. "Sometimes we need to talk about ourselves once in awhile. I thought I'd do the same for you." He smirked to himself, highly amused at this point by how he was acting. His ears flicked, hearing a creature once more. Good, something for Lamia to concentrate on.

"I think I found dinner." He mused, leaving her side. Oh, he had plenty of time to be touchy, but this creature had been jumping around for some time, and was annoying him to no end.

Lamia looked back at him, one eyebrow raised quizically. She was normall so good at reading others, but Sin was really throwing her for a loop. "Found what," she asked. Whatever he was talking about, she wasn't following. She cocked her head to the side, trying to figure out if he'd heard something that she hadn't.
PostPosted: Sun Feb 06, 2011 4:25 pm

He laughed at her words. Thats what he wanted to know! Quickly, he leapt into the bushes, chasing out a creature that scurried straight to Lamia. A badger. He was lucky it wasn't a snake, he wondered if Lamia was bitten if she survived. Oh, he knew how to heal snake bites a bit, having healed Yuki as a baby. He didn't chase after the badger, letting her get it instead, tail wagging softly.

Lamia watched as a very angry badger came at her, teeth bared and claws digging into the dirt he ran. She sighed a bit; they were good for an interesting fight before dinner and the meat tasted alright. With two foxes around it would make a light meal that should last them 'til the end of the day. Still, Sin didn't have to chase the thing at her.

The match lasted a few minutes, but in the end it was one-sided; thick fur could only hold off her speed for so long, especially when she had size advantage and probably weighed a bit more than it too. She came out of the fight with a single scratch running down her nose and to her muzzle, so light that the blood was already starting to clot. At her feet, fur bloodied, was what was now a meal.

"Ever eat one of these, that fur is such a pain to get through," was all she said, lightly nudging the black and white fur.
