"I think the pleasure is all ours." Desmond's father nodded, that warm smile never faltering.
"I'll go start dinner, honey." No need to dilly dally while they had a guest, after all. Placing a kiss on the man's cheek, the woman turned on a heel and headed towards the kitchen, the sounds of clip-clopping slowly fading out.
"My name is Edmond, but you can call me Ed if you want." He offered to Mitsu, never waning anybody to call him by his formal name. "I'm sure Desmond hasn't introduced her, but my wife is Lily."
Even though Edmond's assumption had been right, it didn't appear to make his son less agitated. "C'mon now sport." Looked like his father had noticed. Almost immediately Desmond found himself in a headlock with a noogie messing up those blonde locks. "Wear a smile for the pretty lady, huh?"
Desmond didn't fight it. He soaked it up like an angst sponge and, had this man not been his father, he would've found himself face down on the ground eating s**t.
"Ah, well. Lets all go have a seat in the living room while we wait for dinner." Quite the hospitable man Ed was... Or appeared to be, as he gestured the two of them to follow him to their quirky living room with retro furniture. At least it was comfortable...
---
Cutey? Really, all this s**t was killing her. While she understood the whole 'big brother, little brother' thing, she couldn't help but feel a little bad for klyde "... I'm not bored.." She mumbled, looking up to Klyde sympathetically. Being the center of attention in the middle of a crowd had never been something she enjoyed... And three or more was definitely a crowd.
The second Jacob mentioned 'spending time' together, Riyo's mind recalled what Klyde had warned her about. How true was that? "I... Can help Klyde. He's my date after all and I don't want to bail on him." It was half true. She really wouldn't feel right about leaving Klyde to do s**t when he was the one who had brought her here... But the warning had lingered in her mind and it was going to take more than a charming smile and kind voice to convince Riyo there wasn't something else behind those soulless ginger eyes.

Mitsu continued to smile, though it was a nervous smile when she saw 'Ed' give his son a noogie. It didn't seem like Desmond appreciated it in the slightest. She would have giggled if the vampire didn't look to very miserable at the moment. Poor Desmond.
"Uuhh..sure?" She looked to Desmond unsure but took a hesitant step to follow Desmond's father into the living room. After a moment or two she took a seat on the couch, smile still in place. She wasn't really sure what to say to strike up a conversation so for the time being she remained politely silent looking to Desmond a little nervously.
----
"Ah I'm sure Klyde doesn't mind, do you?" Blake asked ruffling up Klyde's hair rather roughly before letting him go.
"Actually I do mind," Klyde grumbled, running a hand through the mess on his head.
"Don't be such a spoil sport," Jacob piped up. "We'll take good care of her."
"I'm sure you would," Klyde's eyes suddenly narrowed looking at the both of them in a meaningful way before he reached out for Riyo's hand. "I'm sure you're both home for a reason. Need to see dad for more money?"
Blake's eyes narrowed but only for a moment. "I can't come home to say hi to family? Maybe I just felt like visiting."
"Blake!" Claire finally came up to her eldest brother holding up Rosco. "Rosco wants to play with you. Come play!"
With a slight manner of disinterest Blake turned toward the small child. While it didn't look like he held contempt for her it was obvious he wasn't thrilled with her presence. "Why don't you go play in the other room, squirt?"
Claire sighed apparently used to that answer, bringing the stuffed raccoon back to hold him close. She was just about to turn and walk off but Klyde reached out a hand and guided her close. Stepping up next to him she wrapped an arm around his leg, the other holding onto Rosco.
"Come on Claire, you can play with Riyo and I in the game room." Looking toward Riyo he gestured back the way they came. "Come on, we'll play some mortal kombat."
Klyde was about to turn and walk off with the both of them but a hand clasped down on his shoulder rather roughly, the fingers digging into the muscle to keep him in place. Flinching, Klyde looked back with a grimace as Blake brought his head up along side his little brother's to whisper in his hear. "You can't keep her all to yourself, little brother. You know you can't win." He smiled rather cruelly before letting go and pushing Klyde forward. "Enjoy your games, we'll find you later." It was a promise.

As Ed lead the two of them into the living room, he had a seat in an obviously broken in chair with one of those skinny standing lights right beside it, most likely for reading a newspaper.
Desmond had a seat right next to Mitsu on the couch, purposefully slouching to get on his father's nerves. He knew it did, but any normal person wouldn't be able to see it in his face besides the occasional eye twitch.
Edmond didn't say anything about it. Like his son, he was trying to behave for guests... Though it was more because he didn't want a thing to seem out of place. "So, how did you two meet?" The elder vampire asked, starting the dreaded small talk that would probably lead up to some awkward questions.
"School." Desmond replied, his tone a little sharp and explanation very simple.
Ed immediately looked at his son, smile broadening as he shook his head. If this was the way Desmond was going to play...
"Since you're obviously going to school, what are you aspiring to be, Miss Mitsu?" It sounded like a genuinely curious question, something his son couldn't answer for her in one word.
---
Riyo took Klyde's hand the second it was offered to her, scooting close to him but doing her best not to seem... Intimidated. The air had gotten tense around this area, and she could almost taste it. So they were THAT kind of family. Moochers.
Noticing poor Claire trying to get her brother's attention made her realize how important Klyde must be to her. The younger brother appeared to be the only one who would give their sister the time of day. For a moment, Riyo recalled the night before Halloween and how she'd suggested they run off... Now there was more than one reason why she was glad they didn't.
Her ears only picked up the tail end of Blake's quiet words to his brother. Can't win? Can't win what? Mortal Kombat?
As they walked away from the scene, Riyo looked up at Klyde with a hint of worry. "You alright?"

Mitsu's brows furrowed at the sharp tone Desmond took with his father. The air of unhappiness seemed to sit around him like a thick cloud. Slowly she reached out for one of his cold hands to give it a squeeze hoping he could bare with it a little while. She had no idea he would be this miserable with his parents and it made her rather sad to realize.
"Oh um..." At first Mitsu wasn't sure how to answer. Should she tell him what she really wanted to do or what she was actually going to do....if she made it that far anyway. The further into the school year the more doubtful she became. "I'm going to go to school to be a nurse." She smiled though silently she wondered if it was the correct career choice now. "I would....really have liked to get into music but I enjoy just being able to play the piano."
---
Klyde only sighed a bit, giving Riyo's hand a squeeze before forcing a smile on his face. "Yeah, I'm fine. This was a rather mild interaction." He glanced back but his brothers had headed off toward their father's study. No doubt his father would be in a mood later. Best to avoid him if possible.
"Come on, I'll kick your butt at some Mortal Kombat," Klyde mused trying to lighten to mood.
"Me too! Me too!" Claire chimed, that smile returning. "Rosco and I have been practicing." Instantly feeling a little better Claire ran ahead to the game room, the raccoon held above her head like an airplane as she zoomed down the hall.

Desmond was quick to squeeze Mitsu's hand back, letting out a sigh and trying to relax a little. The fact that Ed had decided to ask one-sided questions did irk him, but it's not like he didn't understand why.
"Ah, you play piano?" Ed seemed much more interested in that. "How lovely. We had always wanted Desmond to play a musical instrument." He admitted offhandedly, giving hisd son a very short glance before continuing. "I'm sure your parents are very proud of you."
Oh s**t. Desmond flinched at the mention of her parents, looking at his father with panic and trying to subtly motion with his free hand to cut that s**t out.
Edmond noticed his son's crude yet effective gesture, brows furrowing as it seemed like he had walked into a mine field. Why the hell hadn't Desmond told him about that? "Ah... I... Apologize." Desmond's father said thoughtfully to Mitsu, hoping she wouldn't be too upset.
---
Mild? That was a little shocking. How bad did they really get?
Her mind dropped it when Klyde threw down the proverbial gauntlet, her hand tightly squeezing his with a smirk. "I don't think you're gonna kick anyone's butt. Especially not Claire's." Not only was it an insult to him but a confidence booster to the smaller girl. Two birds with one stone, right?

"No, it's okay," Mitsu smiled and tried to wave a gesture to let him know it was fine. "They've been gone for a long time now." Hoping to keep the conversation from getting too awkward Mitsu decided to ask a question of her own. "So, what do you do for a living, eh..." She wasn't sure she could use his first name so she settled on using the last. "Mr. Vogel?"
---
Claire beamed from down the hall when Riyo said Klyde couldn't beat her. "I'll be sure to win." She grinned before darting into the game room.
"Oh, you think not? Its one of the few games I play so we'll see about that." Klyde smirked trying his best to push his brother's presence out of his mind for the moment. He would worry about it later when they showed up again.
Heading into the game room, Klyde looked to the tv and to the old arcade machine. "We have Mortal Kombat on the arcade machine and on the gaming systems, which would you prefer?"

Edmond was relieved to hear she wasn't offended or upset. "Please, call me Ed." He insisted, apparently not into being formal among friends.
Desmond cringed a little as Mitsu asked her question, hoping to God that his father had the decency to neglect mentioning his side project.
"I own a large chain of hotels called the Starry Night Inn and Suites. We've actually just expanded and close to being nationwide." He sounded a little proud of that fact. "I actually just got done visiting each of our locations a week ago to ensure the staff is keeping up with our quality promises. A couple of them needed to be... Restaffed, but that's to be expected."
Sighing with relief, it looked like the two of them had dodged the bullet... At least... That's what Desmond hoped.
"I also-" Oh s**t, spoke too soon. "Have a side project going on. A couple of years ago, I decided to buy out a small chain of marital aid stores, and have since been improving the image of shops that most people consider degrading and disrespectful. It's more a fun experiment than a job, I suppose."
---
"To the arcade machine!" Riyo smiled and pointed to the huge metal box.
... And while Klyde may have beaten her at the game... It looked like neither of them stood a chance against his little sister. Honestly, Riyo had expected to lose. It had been awhile since she actually played a video game and unless you were a lucky button masher (which she wasn't) it took skill.
So... It was a little shocking to lose to a girl who was less than half her age and size. "... Wow."

"O..okay." Mitsu still wasn't sure if she could call him Ed. It was strange to call an adult by their first name.
When he explained about the hotels Mitsu smiled politely. "Wow, you must have worked hard to grow your business like that." But he also mentioned something else....something Mitsu wasn't familiar with at all. "What's a Marital Aid store?" That term had never been used around her before.....if he had said porn store she would have known what he meant thanks to Riyo.
----
Claire had happily pushed a stool up to the arcade machine so that she could see what she was doing. She was still far too short to really see the buttons or the screen without aid. The first round with Riyo she had actually nearly lost but when she played against Klyde she had stomped him into the ground.
"I win again!" Claire cheered striking a victorious pose on her stool.
"I don't know that I like this game anymore," Klyde whined, having been beaten without even landing a single hit.
"Flawless Victory!" Claire grinned holding Rosco up to his face and trying to mimic a voice for the raccoon. "Finish him." She giggled before hugging him. "Let's play again!"
"Oh, I think you've beaten us both into submission. Why don't you find something else for us to play." Klyde smiled at the little girl lifting her off the stool and setting her on the ground.
"Okay!" And off Claire went, rummaging through the room to find something else.
"Sorry, I didn't mean for us to entertain her all day. We can go do something else if you want. Claire will understand." Klyde offered as he looked at Riyo. "We can watch movies, or go get lunch, or go swimming." He grinned a bit sneaking in the last part.

"N-no Mitsu don't-" Ask... That... Desmond almost immediately planted his face in his hands as Mitsu finished her second question. Had he been warm blooded, his entire face would've been a rosy red color.
Edmond smiled at Mitsu's question, leaning forward slightly and folding his hands in his lap. "It's a sex store, dear." The older man said bluntly, not bothered by saying it at all. "Marital aid is just the polite term, though I've never really cared either way." Obviously.
A muffled groan came from Desmond's direction as his father explained it to Mitsu what he meant by 'marital aid'. If this was a foreshadow of how the night would be, chances are he wouldn't need a rope to hang himself. He'd just die from embarrassment.
"What's wrong sport? Ashamed of your old man?" Ed asked with amusement.
"Yes. Very." No point in lying since it was written all over his face.
"Dinner's ready!" Came a shout from the kitchen, the smell of delicious food wafting through the air and hopefully taking their minds off the downward spiral of conversation.
"Ah, well come along then. No need to let the food get cold."
---
While Riyo had also received an a**-whooping from Claire, she couldn't help laughing at Klyde. "No need to be a spoiled sport. You're the one who was making empty threats."
Watching Claire run off to find something else to do, Riyo shook her head as Klyde apologized. "Not like it's a chore. She's a sweet girl." And there he went with the pool thing again. "Klyde. I've never owned a swim suit and I don't plan on swimming naked in your pool." Riyo said, right to the point as her arms folded across her chest. "As for what we do next, a movie sounds good."
Looking back to Claire, Riyo thought for a moment. "Hey Claire. What movie do you want to watch?" Hopefully it wouldn't be something like My Little Pony or Barbie in Dreamland. But really, she didn't care. Riyo remembered when she was a kid and how she would've killed just to sit down and watch TV with somebody besides her stuffed cat.

"W..what?" Mitsu asked softly looking to Desmond, unsure why he had tried to get her to stop. It was all too apparent when Edmond explained. Eyes shifting down suddenly finding the floor very interesting, Mitsu tried to mask her embarrassment though it was hard since her face was gradually flushing a rosy red. "O..oh. I see."
The short exchange between Desmond and his father did little to help ease the situation but soon his mother's voice called from the kitchen and Mitsu stood up to follow, sticking close to Desmond. Arm wrapping around his she tried to hide her face hoping it would look somewhat normal by the time they got to the dinner table.
---
Klyde was determined to find a way to make this work, though the thought of just carrying Riyo to the pool house and dumping her in the pool crossed him mind. No....no that wouldn't end well. It could only end in claws and teeth. For now he would continue to silently ponder the idea.
"Okay, we'll watch a movie," Though he was a little surprised when Riyo called over to Claire to pick something to watch.
"Movie?" Claire's violet eyes began to sparkle as she went to the bookcase full of videos and immediately found one. It was one she liked to watch often so she knew exactly where it was. Trotting back over toward Riyo she held up My Neighbor Totoro. "This one is my favorite. Rosco likes the cat bus the best."
Klyde sighed a little, "Totoro again?" He had apparently seen the movie far more times than he dared recount, but he moved over toward the tv and hit the button on the blue ray player. "Come on bring it over."

While Edmond noticed their guests embarrassment, he made no comment about it. It was, however, extremely adorable to him.
Desmond followed behind his father, a little cloud hanging over his head as they walked. While he had no intention of eating, there was no way he'd toss Mitsu to the wolves and run off... As much as he despised dinner time.
As soon as they reached the oversized table, Desmond pulled out a chair for Mitsu to sit in... Which happened to be right across from where his parents decided to sit. As the three of them took a seat, Lily and one of the maids began placing different bowls of food on the table. It wasn't anything fancy. Mashed potatoes, some peas, and a bowl of salad. When that was on the table, the plates were sat in front of everybody with a nice juicy steak on them... Except Desmond. He got a glass of water.
It wasn't that they refused to cook things for him, he just refused to eat it. After awhile his parents decided to just give him what he wanted instead of wasting food all the time. Which was fine by him.
When everything was in it's place, Lily sat next to her husband with a satisfied smile. "Now don't be afraid to get as much as you want, Mitsu. I can always make more if I need to." Though the girl seemed so small she wasn't sure if she'd even eat the whole steak.
"This looks great, love." Ed said to his wife with a smile. They did it every night.
And now that they were together, Desmond expected the worst...
"So, how long have you two been seeing eachother?" Lilly asked as she cut into her steak, looking more interested in the two in front of her than her food.
---
Riyo gently plucked the video from Claire's small hands and examined it, a little smile showing up on her face. She'd seen this before, and if she remembered it was pretty cute... But not the kind that made her want to vomit. "Looks perfect." Though apparently Klyde didn't care to see it again. Oh well.
Handing it over to the older vampire, Riyo had a seat on the couch and waited for it to start At least everything seemed to be going pretty well so far.

By the time they got to the kitchen Mitsu's face was only tinted with a hint of pink. She did her best to put the information out of her head for the time being as the smell of food wafted over her. While she didn't eat all that often anymore due to the medication Suto shoved down her throat, the smell of everything was amazing.
Taking the seat Desmond pulled out for her, Mitsu marveled at the food set out before them. Everything looked so good "It smells really good, Mrs. Vogel."...and then she noticed Desmond had only water. She would have asked but she knew better at this point. Slowly she took the silverware sitting beside her plate, preparing to cut into her steak until Lilly asked her a question.
"Uuh," That was a hard question to answer....since Desmond had never asked her out. "We met in Science class when school first started." It wasn't a lie but Mitsu wasn't sure how else to go about it. "I transferred in from another school and Desmond was kind enough to befriend me." There was no reason to go over the details of why he had befriended her, they were passed that or at least hoped they were.....maybe just starting to...
---
Claire was as happy as a clam as she crawled up on the couch and took a seat next to Riyo. Once she settled in she placed her raccoon Rosco next to her effectively taking up a good amount of space so when Klyde turned around after getting the movie started he sighed.
"Really....I get to watch this movie again and I can't even sit next to my date?"
"You can sit next to Rosco, he'll be your date." Claire smiled patting the raccoon on the head.
"Great..." Klyde moved to the couch to at least move the raccoon but Claire was quick to stop him.
"What are you doing Rosco needs a seat too! He wants to see the cat bus. If he doesn't see the cat bus he won't eat dinner."
Klyde groaned a little. "Rosco...has seen this movie hundreds of times. He has seen the cat bus."
Claire crossed her arms with a pout looking like she might get upset. It was all she had to do to make Klyde cave and set the raccoon back in its seat and sit down beside it. "Fine." Reaching over he patted the little girl's head. "The things I deal with for you." Claire immediately grinned turning to watch the movie as it started to play.
Feeling effectively c**k blocked, Klyde looked over at Riyo on the other side of the couch. The look on his face had a slight warning look to it saying 'I don't want to hear a word about it.' Who knew Claire had her brother so tightly wound around her little finger.

"Awww~!" Lily promptly responded, taking a bite of her steak before she continued. "That's so cute!"
Desmond did his best to hold back his comments, instead taking a sip of water. He knew full well he'd technically never asked her out... And he did feel bad about it... But could he actually go through with it after all the s**t he'd put her through? What if she said no? Was that it?
"You know, Desmond..." His father jumped in after swallowing his food, a little smirk on his face. "Your mother and I got married after dating for a year."
Was he... Trying to insinuate something? "Yeah. I know. You've told me 50 times." Desmond commented, though he held back the malice.
"What a beautiful night that was." Lily mused, a content sigh as she reflected on her memories. "We just ran off and eloped. No friends, no family. Just me and your father in one of those gaudy Vegas wedding chapels." Which sorta made sense since they were creatures of the night and walking into a church probably wouldn't have gone well for the two of them.
"Then we got our own little apartment and worked our way up from there." It seemed like Edmond was also slightly starry eyed talking about it. Obviously the two loved each other very much.
"So... Have you two thought about getting married?" Lily asked out of the blue, a little smirk on her lips.
Desmond had been in the process of taking another sip of water... Until his mother 'popped the question'. Coughing and sputtering as the water went down the wrong pipe, he took a gasp of air before looking at Lily like she was insane. "E-excuse me?!"
"You're excused." She said simply, dismissing it as if he was asking to be excused for coughing so much. "You'd look so pretty in a wedding dress Mitsu. Especially with that white hair of yours."
---
Riyo had to hold back her giggles as she watched the apparently whipped Klyde have a seat on the other side of the couch. With an obviously teasing smile, she waved over to him as if the distance between them was a mile and looked back to the movie. Looked like Klyde would have to make kissyfaces with Rosco for this movie...
Maybe she could convince Klyde that he'd rather take the raccoon skinny dipping.

Mitsu smiled a little awkwardly as she started to cut up her steak listening to the story Lilly and Edmond had to share. It sounded rather cute, it appeared as if they were truly in love with each other.
"That sounds rather amazing," Mitsu smiled. It was hard to imagine they went from being a young couple starting out to moving up to a place like this with a family. Getting ready to try her first piece of steak, Mitsu put the meat in her mouth but just as soon as she began to chew Lilly uttered a question out of the blue. Nearly choking, Mitsu swallowed hard. "M...married?"
Her face flushed a new, she looked between Desmond's parents questioningly. "I...I..." What do you say to something like that? Turning to Desmond she looked to him for help, eyes full of bewilderment.
---
Klyde's expression quickly switched to say 'ha ha very funny'. He wasn't entirely amused but he would deal with it. Turning back to the movie he had seen at least thirty or forty times, Klyde watched with only particle interest.
They were half way through the movie when the door opened to the game room and a figure leaned over both Riyo and Klyde.
"Enjoying the movie?" Blake smiled down at Riyo, leaning against the back of the couch. His general stance said he thought a lot about himself.
Klyde was about to stand up, but a hand clasped down on his shoulder keeping him in place. Looking back he saw Jacob leaning over him with a grin. "Don't be so jumpy, Klyde."
Claire was immersed in her movie at first but the tension in the air was hard to miss. Feeling uneasy she grabbed for Rosco holding him close.
"H..Hey Claire, will you do me a favor?" Klyde asked.
"Y..yeah," She said softly looking up at her brother.
"Go get me a juice pack, huh? One from the freezer in the garage. Warm it up for me?" He tried to smile down at her to reassure her that everything was okay, it was hard though with Jacob digging his fingers into the muscle of his shoulder.
"Okay," With a quick nod Claire scooted off the couch with Rosco in tow and left the game room. Once she was gone Klyde only waited a few seconds before her turned on Jacob with a growl.

Seeing Mitsu's reaction, Desmond's glance shot back to his parents. "No. We're in high school for God's sake. Don't be ridiculous." Desmond hissed, trying to encourage them to drop the subject.
But it didn't seem to affect either of them. "Come now Desmond. You're never too young to love." His mother pointed out, that smirk apparently glued to her face.
"Your mother's right, sport. Besides, the sooner you get married, the sooner you can get your own place, and the sooner we can have grandchildren."
Desmond sat there in awe, his jaw dropped as he stared at his parents. At that moment, he was completely stupefied by their words. Had they really said all that? "You didn't just say 'grandchildren', did you?" He asked, trying to keep the hope that he had somehow misheard them.
"Of course he did!" Lilly chimed in. "You two would make such cute k-"
"I'M A GODDAMN VAMPIRE." Desmond practically shouted as he stood and slammed his hands down on the table. He was trying to express the fact that it was almost impossible for the two of them to have children. The fact that the two of them had been through a big mess pertaining to the impossibility of pregnancy made the situation more dire.
Both of his parents looked up at him at first with shock, but the smiles came back rather quickly. "Son, do we need to have a talk about the birds and the bees?" His father asked... They had completely ignored the point he was trying to make.
---
Riyo had been into the movie... Up to the point she heard the door open behind them, glancing back, she raised an eyebrow at Blake then turned back to the screen. "Yep." She said simply, obviously not impressed.
Though, her attention once again pulled away when Klyde sent Claire out of the room. Without a second thought, she reached for the remote and found the pause button, shooting a glance between the two brothers. "S-should I leave?" Her question was directed towards Klyde, becoming nervous at the tension that had formed in such a short time.
