+migurushii+ seragnel Mistress of the Dark I've been addicted to FF7 and FF8 mp3's lately confused If I could I'd buy the OST's Tis nice how far game music has come. I was just listening to my Xenosaga 2 soundtrack and was a bit surprised just how nice of music it was. FF8 I love! blaugh Faye Wong-" Eyes on Me" heart domokun Tis indeed most joyous that song o' doom.

I'd like to raise a topic if you don't mind Mistress
What do you all think of older songs getting covered? While not all covers suck... most totally ruin what the original intended. Anybody else like to add their 2 cents?

elryck I'd like to raise a topic if you don't mind Mistress What do you all think of older songs getting covered? While not all covers suck... most totally ruin what the original intended. Anybody else like to add their 2 cents? because people aren't original and run out of ideas? Or they think that because the original version was great their cover will be great too?

Anybody else like to add their 2 cents? i think it's all relative. maybe the cover is just a way for an artist to shill their record and instead of actually writing something worthwhile, they just rip it off. more likely though, i think it's just idolization. imitation is the sincerest form of flattery even if the imititation pales in comparison to the origional. the same agument can be used for hip hops blatant covering known as "sampling". you have to approach the cover as a seperate entity all together even though by it's very nature it begs to be compared. a perfect example is Alien ant farms cove of smooth criminal. as a cover, it has nothing on jacko's origional vocals but as a song in itself, it's great. you just have to take em with a grain of salt is all. or, at least, that's what i think anyway.

I agree that there just not as many new ideas going around..but that justs mean those guys better get there asses in gear and put some effort into making new record covers...so in other words I think it's just those guys are taking the easy way out...I wish I could say it was only in this part of entertainment that it happens

Mistress of the Dark Just talk about music here. Anything that has to do with music. Which music you like, which music you hate, what music is haunting you, bands, etc I had an idea of statements and people giving their oppinion about it, but I think that gets boring pretty soon confused hehehehe.. *tacklepounce'lick'snuggle* ninja *sneaks back out*

Im so undecided on this whole thing
Yeah I don't think it's cool all these bands are covering all these
old songs.....
But if they don't cover all the classics then the classics eventually would die
cuz like all these idiot bands will come up with even more garbage...songs that it took them probably like two minutes to write well there were sitting on the can...
Yeah the covers...most...kinda suck...so I dunno

There are certain songs that I love,
save for a few parts (such as the
singer's voice irritating me), and I'd
love to hear other bands sing them.
I think covers can be a nice tribute,
or simply an improvement. And then
other times I wonder if my ears are
about to bleed. :B
