Sonja hesitated in her assent considering her options. She did love to fly high but now that they had another flyer along with them, it wouldn't really be fair if she exhausted herself on her challenges and they couldn't travel as planned. Relenting she shifted her wings and soared back down to their level. "Fine, but later we fly high!"
"Sometime when we're not exploring, that would be a better time," Aydan agreed, pleased with himself that they'd managed to avoid an argument. He gave Velika an appreciative smile, knowing she played no small part in the new balance of their group.

Valika beamed an agreement with Sonja, then ruined Aydan's appreciation for her help. "When we stop to rest, we can see how high we can fly!"

Sonja's joyful laugh echoed through the skies, "That sounds like a great plan!" She corkscrewed in celebration once or twice before regaining her normal flying patterns. "Hey, Velika, you know any good tricks? Any areal acrobatic abilities?"
Aydan sighed and shook his head. A fleeting balance, indeed, he thought to himself. But he wasn't upset, not at all. He would simply have to figure out a new way to keep Sonja from pushing herself too hard. Easier said than done, perhaps, but the stallion was confident that his perseverance would eventually win the day.

Sonja grinned and responded, "For how long?"
"Perhaps we should wait to test new acrobatics until another time?" he suggested. Aydan was beginning to think this new balance was no longer in his favor.

"Woah!" Sonja grinned in amazement. "That's awesome! I'm going to have to practice to keep up with you! You'll have to show me some of your tricks too!"
Aydan shook his head. The balance had completely shifted and now Sonja had new inspiration. This could be a long trip.

"Well, the first thing you need to do is get reeeeeeally high... cuz I tend to drift downward when I'm flying like that," she grinned impishly.

"But not too high?" Aydan interjected hopefully.
Sonja snorted adjusting her wings so she bumped Aydan in midair, "I can fly just as high as I want. But first I want to see more of the area. So let's head though the night, nap in the morning, and we'll take up some aerobatic fun after that!"

Sonja scanned the ground in the slow fading light, "So much of this flatland looks the same. Let's veer towards the mountains, at least they're a little different."
"A little colder too," Aydan said following her gaze, "Is that snow I see on those peaks?"

"Aw, come on..." Sonja grinned at them slowly changing her course towards the frosty peaks. "You guys aren't scared of a little snow are you? So it's a little cold, just means we'll have to fly a little faster if we need to get out of there."
"The air's thinner there too," Aydan reminded her.
"Makes it easier to fly through!"
"I don't think that's how it works..."

"Makes it harder to breathe, which makes it harder to fly faster, which makes it colder," Valika nodded, not overly eager to try it. She was a far cry from a snowbird.
