Also, as long as Corey Burton is brought in for the voice of Shockwave, it will justify whatever else Bay does to the movie. Because the world needs more Shockwave.

I was a bit skeptical of the Arcee design, but in motion on screen as an alien robot lifeform, it actually worked nicely.
There's no way to get it into toy form without it sucking industrial bearings though.

Mylian I was a bit skeptical of the Arcee design, but in motion on screen as an alien robot lifeform, it actually worked nicely. There's no way to get it into toy form without it sucking industrial bearings though. Have to agree with that. I did get the toy, and just looking at it I decided not to mess with it. eek I generally prefer mine to be in robot mode anyway though, so it didn't really matter. sweatdrop

Okay, the rumors have some bad news and some good news.
Apparently, Corey Burton will not be reprising his classic role as Shockwave. I was saddened by this, yes. Until I heard the rumor that Shockwave may be voiced by David Warner. If you cannot immediately hear his voice just by the name, he's the bad guy from the original Tron. Sark as Shockwave? I'm ready for it. mrgreen

meh midcore at best we'll have to w8 and see how that a** bay wants to do the voice he could sound amazing or end up sounding like wheelie from the 80s...

I'm not going to quote any one person but here's my 2 cents about why 86 movie was awesome and Bay was not lol. And I like Mylian's comment that we should compare on par so movie with movie. If Bay had 99 episodes to work with there might be more substance to his efforts.
In every epic movie there must be one thing that will destroy the massive villain. Recall all other movies with super evil doer and only a magic sword or person can kill ie. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Narnia etc.
The 86 movie could be a stand alone piece that actually made sense and follow through. There was a goal, a purpose. Unicron won't have been "evil" but to live he consumes others with no compromises. He will not settle for just 1 moon or asteroid. He will consume all. There was reason why Cybertronians need to fight or the cost is their entire species.
As well did you not notice the skills needed to put "rendering" in some of the scenes? Example when Blaster does his SOS and the "camera" rotates around him. That is not computerized, it was done by man and every motion drawn with ink and transparencies.
Bay can never compare to that. Throwing a bunch of mechanical things together and make it go boom really don't require skills. It's done and you can go back as far as Terminator to see the same "bots" going boom. So make something fancy. I have to give credit to him though for being the first to make a transformation scene of the bots and make it look real.
Plot and story do not make sense. Each movie can stand alone but there's no reason why Decepticons need to be on Earth. He relies on fans and public understanding of some history to get why Decepticons and Autobots lands. His movie begins with a question mark which later explains.
86 movie covered the question mark by an epilogue from a narrator and then the story rolls with a purpose. Bay's movie had one purpose, pay tribute to Transformers but has no true epicness.
For example if you compare the death of Optimus, the one in 86 movie was memorable and dramatic with reason, dialogue and pure war with no "evil" or "good". The death in Bay's movie was what? Was a child being an idiot and Optimus throwing himself amongst enemies with no real reason except he must die so the child lives. How is that epic? Completely neutralizes the death factor being meaningful. Not to mention there was no dialogue and only Optimus screaming for the idiot to run for his life. That was pathetic - self sacrifice is only worth any value if there was a true reason to die behind it and for Bay's movie there was no reason and unnecessary.

for thsoe freaking out at the gold bot name sentanel prime -- before there was TFA there was a Sentanel prime the first drawings looked like a gold ironhide - I have made my whos your daddy ironhide jokes already-
in later re drawings he dose look more impressive sadly the teaser dosnt help

Eh, I think it would be cool if it was TFA's Sentinel Prime. Bay's Wheelie was already Rattrap, so it's not like non-G1 characters haven't been in the movies already.

A new trailer was released during the stuporbowl for the upcoming film. In it, Chicago was under heavy fire, the skies littered with starships, and the city streets became a warzone for Transformers. Prime is shown landing- yes, landing from flight with engines on his back, and tearing quite a few opponents apart.
In typical Bay flair, the film is thus far showing a great deal of action- and perhaps a camera too close to truly appreciate all that is going on. Still, other hints at the film show my concern better. Apparently, the oft-seen junky semi truck is in fact Megatron. In bot mode, he will have a small cape on his left shoulder. Frankly, a truck Megatron just sits wrong with me. I'm sure it will grow on me, but for now it is not a good choice.

Prime's trailer turns into his jetpack? Golden. I'm guessing they make it out of Jetfire's parts. Looks like it's three nods in one, Prime's classic trailer, his jetpack, and a sideways Ultra Magnus nod. I approve of this.
And Shockwave is win. That design and David Warner's voice? Yes PLEASE.
As for truck Megatron, why not? He's been everything else so far. xd

Sentinel Prime has been leaked . . . Apparently, the fire truck leaked from the movie set was not a possible inferno, but this guy. Judging by the face, he is also the one that got a closeup on the moon.
